BAT RADAR

Bats are the only flying mammals in existance. Noticed for their extremely poor vision bats have no
trouble flying on the darkest nights and catching the insects that they eat. How do bats manage to fly
and see at night they fly by radar. The bat's radar system works on the same principle as the one that
ships and airplanes use. Like the radio signals sent by a ship or airplane. the bat also send signal that
bounce back when they strike an object. As a bat flies through the air he sends out a serial of sounds 30
to 60 per second. The sounds cannot be heard by the human ear. If the sounds hit an object they bounce
back like an echo. The bats' ears which can hear sounds as high as 100,000 vibrations per second pick
up the sounds, these return sound signals tell about where the object is located. The bat's radar system
is very precise. Tests have been made with bats in a crowded room blind in the light the bats could fly
by the room and never touch any object.
