In this road trip we have to chose 5 cities to travel to: total trip is 2850 miles

1.Sacramento, CA to Las Vegas, NV

2,Las Vegas, NV to Phoenix, AZ

3.Phoenix, AZ to Santa Fe, NM

4.Santa Fe, NM to Lincoln , NE

5.Lincoln, NE to Rapid City ,SD

6.Rapid City, SD to Sacramento, CA

Which Car
I had 6 options for cars:Mustang, Smart Car, Dodge Ram, Honda Odyssey,
Chevrolet Tahoe, and a Jeep Wrangler, I chose the Smart Car because the total
cost is $ 330.6 and the total gallons is 312.06, The MPG for the Smart Car is
36.2 and takes 0.69 to drive 25 miles.
Hotels, Sightseeing, and days driving
I'm going to be driving for 4 days and 8 days exploring the cities, in total my
trip will be 12 days long. At the all the cities I visit I will be staying at a 3 star
hotel the whole time costing me $600 in hotel nights, it will another $360 for
food on my trip, The total fuel and rent for the car will be $1905.6.
Total Costs
My trip touring most of the midwest has a grand total of $2865.6 for all the
expenses listed in the other slides. My family has a $2000 budget for this trip, I
find it not reasonable, the trip has such a high cost because of the rent for the
car. 1575$ is being spent just to rent the car for 12 days on the road, an other
nthing I might change is the hotels, $600 is being used for the hotels and that
is a bit much. At the end of the road, this trip is not worth while, a airplane
ticket is cheaper that this.
 Is it reasonable?
My family has a total budget of $2000, my trip costs me $2865.6, ad sadly it is not
a reasonable trip to take but it is close. I'm 865 $ off but a way I can decrease the
budget is by changing my destinations, perhaps in California, This will decrease my
car rent and my fuel. As well this will also decrease the amount of meals and
hotels. I decided my alternate route would be Sacramento - Oakland - San
Francisco - Fresno - Bakersfield - Santa Barbara - Sacramento. That trip will take
900 miles which is about 3 times shorter than my first trip, then I decided to spend
1 day at each city and the days I will spend driving are 1( 6 days in total). If I stay
with 3 star hotels the whole way, the total will be $ 450 and if I stay with the same
food plan too ( nice restaurants) the whole way it will be $180. 630$ is the total for
food and the total fuel cost will be 104.4 $ and the total gallons will be 312. With
the fuel cost the alternat trip will be 734.4 $ in total which is much more
reasonable.
Math
I used some measurement at the front of the packet to measure the total
distance of my locations, on the same part I used ratios to change the
measurements to another unit. Then on step 7 and 8 I used ratios to figure
out the total cost for the cars gas and the total gallons used in this trip. I
would say the critical thinking pillar was the main one I used, because some of
this math is not easy especially the proportions. This project clearly represents
the critical thinking pillar, some of the math was not easy especially the
proportions.
