IN CASE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE

1. Document the time and current temperature.


2. Contact Ralph Rodulf Maceda (Smart #09297246090) or Boyd Daug
______________ the cold chain trained technician to check up and or repair the
refrigerator.
3. Transfer vaccines immediately to an insulated container or its equivalent with
appropriate ice packs and temperature devices and record temperature.
i. Pre-chill the insulated container by placing ice packs and temperature
devices and record temperature.
ii. Prepare the temperature monitoring devices and place the vaccines by
placing the freeze sensitive vaccines in the middle or away from the ice
packs and heat sensitive vaccines near the ice packs.
4. If the repair will take more than 2 days, transfer the vaccine to another
refrigerator (solar refrigerator) or District Hospital.
a. The EPI Coordinator will transport the vaccines. In the absence of the
latter, the alternate will take charge.
IN CASE OF POWER CUT
1. Documents the time and current temperature.
2. Use the generators.
a. Contact the gasoline station with the MOA to request the gasoline to be used
and the generator technician.
3. If No. 2 is not feasible, contact DORELCO for information concerning the estimated
time before electricity will be restored.
4. If the power will be restored in less than 10 hours.
a. Keep the vaccines in the refrigerator and place ice packs in
the body and freezer to help maintain the required temperature for as long as
possible.
b. Keep the refrigerator door closed. Place DO NOT OPEN!
sign on the refrigerator.
5. If the power will not be restored after 10 hours.
a. Transfer vaccines to an insulated container or its equivalent with appropriate
ice packs and temperature devices and record temperature.

i. Pre-chill the insulated container by placing ice packs inside for at


least 1 hour or as the temperature reaches between +2 to +8 C.

ii. Prepare the temperature monitoring devices and place the vaccines by
placing the freeze sensitive vaccines in the middle or away from the ice
packs and heat sensitive vaccines near the ice packs.

iii. Transport the vaccines to the District Hospital.


The EPI Coordinator will transport the vaccines.
In the absence of the latter, the alternate will take charge.

iv. Transfer the vaccine to the solar Refrigerator.


v. If iii is not feasible, contact the ice-maker store with a MOA within
vicinity and replace the ice packs after 24 hours.
