The Exam is 3 hours long. We need to focus as the PTE exams are very intense. Timing is
crucial in all the sections. Hence we need to be vigilant and cautious about the time and look at
the timer appropriately.
Understand all the questions types thoroughly. This way you will save time and focus on
resolving the questions. Go through the PTE Practice tests and purchase the mock tests for your
help. Mock tests are harder than the real tests but it will prepare you for whats to come.
Speaking
Personal Introduction
The first section of PTE Academic is the Personal Introduction. You will be required to speak for
30 seconds to give an introduction about yourself. THIS SECTION IS NOT SCORED. But if
you are applying for an admission in university, it will give a good impression on the selection
team. It will also verify your identity.

To finish this part, just memorize what you are going to say before you appear for the exam. You
can talk about your name, your location, your occupation, your reason for appearing for PTE
Academic exam among others.

You can go like the following sentence:

Hello! My name is (your name here). I am (your age here) years old. I live in (your location). I
am working as (your designation). My hobbies are (list down 2 or 3 of your hobbies). I am
appearing for PTE exam because I would like to live and work in Australia.

You may add your own sentences but make sure you finish in 30 seconds. Next part will be real
deal, which is the Speaking Section.
Read Aloud
Read Aloud an easy question type of PTE. We should concentrate on punctuation and
intonations in this question type. Just read out loud the whole text on the screen once and
understand the sense of given paragraph before reading it again for scoring well.

You will be given 40 seconds and must read the text aloud as naturally and clearly as
possible.

There will be 7 texts for this section, each with 50-65 words.

It is scored in the following manner:

Content: Each replacement, omission or insertion of a word counts as one error

Maximum score depends on the length of the item prompt.
Pronunciation: 5 Native-like 4 Advanced 3 Good 2 Intermediate 1 Intrusive 0 Non-
English
Oral fluency: 5 Native-like 4 Advanced 3 Good 2 Intermediate 1 Limited, 0 Disfluent

DO NOT FOCUS ON THE ACCENT. Instead, focus on fluency and proper pronunciation.
Usually the answers are completed before 30 seconds, so do not worry about the timing at all.
Just keep your normal pace without sounding like a robot.

Utilize the time you get before your turn to speak starts. Read the texts properly and in low voice
to preempt in mispronunciation and tongue twisting.

The ability to read naturally is assessed, which you need to reading with the
correct pronunciation, rhythm, stress, and intonation.

Do give appropriate pause following the commas and full stops.

To practice PTE reading and to listen to yourself, use voice to text apps on your cell phone.

On the next page, you will find the preparation materials for Read Aloud section.
The sentences which are repeated in PTE Read Aloud are following, practice thoroughly for
good PTE scores:

Domestication is an evolutionary, rather than a political, development. They were more

likely to survive and prosper in an alliance with humans than on their own. Humans
provided the animals with food and protection, in exchange for which the animals
provided the humans their milk and eggs and their flesh.
Akimbo, this must be one of the odder-looking words in the language and puzzles us in
part because it doesnt seem to have any relatives. Whats more, it is now virtually a
fossil word, until recently almost invariably found in arms akimbo, a posture in which a
person stands with hands on hips and elbows sharply bent outward, one that signals
impatience, hostility or contempt.
The problem begins with the alphabet itself. Building a spelling system for English using
letters that come from Latin despite the two languages not sharing exactly the same set
of sounds- is like building a playroom using an IKEA office set.
Modern buildings have to achieve certain performance requirements, at least to satisfy
those of building codes, to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment.
However, these conditioned environments demand resources in energy and materials,
which are both limited in supply, to build and operate.
Three professors from Hamburg Universitys medical faculty travelled last month to
Ingeborgs sitting room in East Berlin to test her on the work she carried out in pre-war
Germany.
