I.A.F.F. LOCAL 191

PRESS RELEASE
November 5, 2017

I.A.F.F. LOCAL 191 ENDORSEMENT OF CITY COUNCIL

CANDIDATES
On September 12 of this year the citizens of Watertown were given an opportunity to
establish a new path forward for the City of Watertown through the primary election for City
Council. Overwhelmingly the results of that election showed that there was a desire for change,
and a discontent with a status quo that has time and again been mired in controversy and
complacency.
During that election Local 191 made a show of support for all challengers because it was,
and is still, our belief that a change of Council is needed to help heal the fractured labor relations
that exist across the city. With the primary election long past, and on the eve of the general
election Local 191 must now narrow our support. With only two seats open and three capable
challengers we are not able to endorse all contenders.
Given the fact the they have been steadfast in their desire to repair labor relations, protect
minimum manning, and listen to fact based and scientific research regarding the fire service and
protection; Local 191 has committed to endorse Mr. Ryan Henry-Wilkinson, and Mrs. Lisa
Ruggiero for City Council.
This endorsement is in concurrence with a letter of endorsement from the NYSPFFA
which was presented by Local 191 late last week. We wish Mr. Ryan Henry-Wilkinson, and
Mrs. Lisa Ruggiero the best of luck on Tuesday and look forward to a future council where their
contribution and presence lead towards a better future for Watertown.

Respectfully,

Daniel Daugherty
President - I.A.F.F. Local 191 Watertown, NY
