Sample Detailed Lesson Plan of TLE (Industrial Arts)

I. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
A. Competencies
Read and interpret electrical signs, symbols and data
Analyze electrical components and materials based on electrical signs, symbols and data
Read blueprints of electrical plans, diagrams and circuits 2.2 Identify necessary tools,
materials and equipment according to blueprints of electrical plans, diagrams and circuits
B. Objectives:
At the end of 60 minutes discussion, the students should be able to;
a. Identify and interpret the symbols and signs of electrical diagram
b. Examine the different signs and symbols and internalize how and when it will used
c. Organize a simple technical diagram using signs and symbols

II. SUBJECT MATTER/CONTENT

A. Topic: Interpret signs and symbols; signs, symbols and abbreviation

B. Reference:
http://www.depedbataan.com/resources/9/k_to_12_electrical_learning_module.pdf

C. Materials: marker, manila paper, camera (cp), chart of different electrical signs and
symbols

D. Content standard:
The learner demonstrates an understanding of the concepts and underlying
principles in interpreting simple technical drawings and plans in electrical
installation and maintenance.

E. Performance standard:
The learner independently reads and interprets specifications of simple technical
drawings and plans.

III. LEARNING ACTIVITY/PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activity
Routinary Activity
1. Simple Review/ Active Review

Teacher: Class:
Good morning Maam!
Good morning class!
Its fine maam!
Hows your day?
Did you still remember what we have Yes maam!
discussed last meeting?
So what is it all about? Student:
Anyone? Yes? Maam last meeting we discussed the
different types of electrical\technical diagram
There are two types of electrical diagram
and these are the pictorial diagram and schematic
Very good.. So what are those? Yes? diagram.

Thats right very good.

So how and when can you say that the Maam we can easily identify the diagram
because of its feature wherein, in pictorial it
diagram is a pictorial or schematic?
shows the external appearance of each
Yes? component. It is much like a photograph of the
circuit and uses simple images of parts while in
schematic diagram it shows the components of
the circuit using standard electrical symbols. It
shows the actual number of components and how
the wiring is routed but not the actual location.

Absolutely! Very good class..

2. Motivation
Class:
So now, we will proceed to our new topic Yes maam!
and before that I will give you an activity.
I will show you a different picture and after
that tell me your insight about the pictures.
Is that clear class?

So lets start

Electrical Wire

Connected Wires

Not Connected Wires

Voltage Source

Current Source

AC Voltage Source

Generator
Battery Cell

Battery

Class:
Yes maam!
(The pictures are all about different signs and Maam I think I saw that pictures during
symbols of electrical wiring. E.g. switch, fuse, our last topic in the types of electrical diagram,
galvanometer, ammeter, voltmeter, terminal or the schematic diagram.
conductor, cell, push button, etc.) Those pictures are the components of
schematic diagram using standard electrical
Are you familiar with these pictures? symbols.

So what can you say? Okay yes?

How do you say so?

Thats correct, these pictures are all

electrical symbols of a diagram which is our topic
for today

3. Introduction of the topic

Teacher:

Class I will present our objective for this

day and these are: Nothing maam!

At the end of 60 minutes

discussion, the students should be able to;
a. Identify and interpret the symbols and
signs of electrical diagram
b. Examine the different signs and symbols
and internalize how and when it will used
c. Organize a simple technical diagram using
signs and symbols

So class do you want to add more

objectives?

Last meeting we discussed the different

types of electrical diagram, now I will
teach you the different signs and symbols
used in diagram especially in schematic
diagram and for you can interpret and
make it with your own.

a. Developmental Activity
1. Activity
Yes maam

So before we proceed to our discussion

lets have first a quick activity which is
related to our topic. I will group you into 3
groups and each group will receive an
index card where the instructions are
indicated. Choose your leader to present
your output and a secretary to write your
answer in the manila paper and this
activity is good only for 5 minutes so you
need to be quick and of course and the
participation of each one f you.
Is that clear class?
You may go to your respective group.

Activity

Group 1

Materials:

Manila paper

Pictures of different symbols of

electrical circuit

Marker

tape

Instruction:

1. Read carefully the given brief statement

2. Construct a simple circuit using the given

pictures with description of different
symbols of electric circuit.

3. Use the brief statement as a guide in

constructing the circuits.

Final output:

Circuit statement:

A single cell, light bulb and switch are

placed together in a circuit such that
the switch can be opened and closed to
turn the light bulb on.

Answer:
1. Safety alert

2. prohibition

3. voltage danger

Group 2 4. warning
