You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes (reading time). This time is to be spent in
reading the question paper.
The time given in the header of this paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.
Attempt all questions from section A and any 4 questions from section B.
All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the same sheet as the
rest of the answer.
Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks.

The paper consists of two sections


Section A - 40 marks (All questions are compulsory)
Section B 40 marks (Attempt any 4 from given 5 questions)

4. If 36 men can do a piece of work in 25 days, in how many days will 15 men do it?
5. In an army camp, 300 soldiers had provision for 13 days. If 40 of them are transferred to the other camp,
how long will the provision last?
6. At a uniform speed of 54 km/hr, a car covers a certain distance in 50 minutes. How much time will it
take to cover the same distance at 30 km/hr?
7. If 2.5 litres of petrol costs Rs 180, how much petrol will cost Rs 1728?

1. A man covers first 276 km of his journey at 46 km/hr, next 125 km at 75 km/hr and the last 56 km in
one hour. Find
a. The total time taken to complete the journey.
b. His average speed during the whole journey.
2. A train 140 m long crosses a bridge 130 m long in 18 seconds. Find the speed of train in km/hr.
3. A car driver travelled the distance of 176km in 3 hours and 12 minutes. Find the speed of the car. If he
drives the car with the same speed, then how much time will he take to cover 286km?
4. A train 120 m long is running at 54 km/hr. In how much time will it pass a bridge 180 m long?
5. An aeroplane covers 2500 km, 1200 km and 500 km at the rate of 500km/hr,
400 km/hr and 250 km/hr respectively. Find its average speed for the whole journey.
