Resolved, that Andres Bonifacio should be our national hero

Stand: Agrees, that Andres Bonifacio should be our national hero.
Introduction:
In 1993 Pres. Fidel Ramos issued Executive Order no. 75 entitled Creating the National
Heroes Committee Under the Office of the President. The committee was tasked to study,
evaluate and recommend national dignitaries for recognition of their achievements and
contributions to the nation. According to the committee a National Hero was recognized by the
following criteria: 1st he must aspire and work for the nation's freedom. 2nd he must contribute to
a life of freedom and order of a nation through ways such as formulating laws and enacting them.
3rd a hero should contribute to the quality of life and destiny of a nation. And lastly, he should
also be part of the people's expression and must think of the future generations. My speech will
explain why, based on the above criteria, Andres Bonifacio embodied these traits.
Thesis Statement:
Andres Bonifacio should be the Philippines national hero because the greatest hero is the
one identified with praxis, the melding of theory and practice.

Summary
In summary, Andres Bonifacio should be held as the Philippines national hero not only
because he displayed inspiring qualities that a true Filipino should have, but also because of his
thirst and hunger to totally separate the Philippines from its colonizers.
Conclusion
Rizal fought against the friars with the use of his pen while Bonifacio advocated for
revolution. Both used different ways to motivate the Filipinos during their time. But dont only
look at what they did, more importantly, you have to look at their goal. While Rizal doubted that
Filipinos are ready for independence, Bonifacio aspired and worked for the countrys freedom
believing that his fellow we should experience total independence and our own government. A
government run by Filipinos. A true hero is someone who puts words into actions, turn plans into
exertion, and someone who is brave and smart enough to know when to finally roll up sleeves and
pull out the sword to defend the nation.
