Checklist for Microsoft Excel

1. Do not type (hard code) any numbers. All cells with numbers should be linked to the Data Box or be
a formula computation.

2. To grab data from a previous page, type =, then point to the cell on the previous sheet, then take your
hand off the mouse and hit Enter on the keyboard.

3. Do a Print Preview to make sure it looks pleasing to the eye!

Chapter 2:
1. Center heading across columns (make sure there are no empty columns under the heading).
2. Make the heading font bigger. Put a box around the heading. Shade the heading, maybe with color.
3. Increase column width to be slightly wider than the text and numbers
4. Formatting of numbers
Standard number format Accounting, 0, no symbol
5. Align text to the left.
6. Make sure your numbers line up. If they dont then you will need to correct the alignment.
7. Put bottom borders on the cell above where you are doing math. Put double bottom borders on the
bottom line of the statement. (Do not underline use the border tool) Right click Format Cells - Border
8. Formula
Use the @sum function if adding or subtracting multiple numbers rather than the + or - sign over and over

Chapters 3 & 4:
1. Formatting of numbers:
Format all numbers to the dollar, except for per unit and rates.
Format per unit and rate amounts to the penny.
2. Make sure your numbers line up. If they dont then you will need to correct the alignment.
3. Formula
Use the @sum function if adding or subtracting multiple numbers rather than the + or - sign over and over
Use the @round function if multiplying or dividing numbers
 Formula hierarchy (order of operations):

2. Exponents
3. Multiplication use the Round function
4. Division use the Round function
5. Addition use the sum function
6. Subtraction use the sum function
