Dear Representatives,
On behalf of more than 3.2 million Americans for Prosperity activists across the country, I write
today to express my support as this chamber brings The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (H.R. 1)
to the floor for a vote. This vote is a crucial step in delivering bold, pro-growth tax relief to
American taxpayers this year. We stand ready to help see this effort across the finish line.
Under H.R. 1, individuals and families would see their tax bills lowered and the filing process
simplified, bringing much needed relief to people who have been struggling to make ends meet.
Many of the distortive credits, loopholes and deductions that have riddled our code for so long
would be removedcertainly a good first step toward unrigging the economy.
American businesses would see relief as well, bringing a much-needed boost to the economy
after years of stagnation under an overly burdensome code. Our corporate ratecurrently the
highest in the industrialized world at 35 percentwould be lowered substantially to 20 percent,
which would make U.S. companies more competitive and encourage businesses to invest here at
home. Lowering the burdens on American businesses would mean more jobs and higher wages
for American workers, who have been waiting on this kind of pay raise for far too long.
There is still room for improvement on a few of the provisions currently in the House bill,
including the elimination of the proposed excise tax that would fall on consumers, we look
forward to working with our champions in the House and the Senate to address these
challenges as the bill moves forward.

We encourage you to keep this imperative process moving by passing the bill out of the House
and continuing the work of ensuring the best bill possible for the American people.

Sincerely,
Brent Gardner
Chief Government Affairs Officer
