I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, 85% of the students will attain proficiency level and will be able to:
A. describe and illustrate well defined sets, subsets, universal set and null set.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Introduction
a. The teacher posts on the board the learning competencies to be achieved.
b. Develop the students responses and connect them to the lesson objectives.
B. Motivation
a. The teacher will as the students about their collections at home.
b. The teacher then collect all the examples of the students and describe them in relation with the topic: SETS.
C. Instruction / Delivery
a. Discuss the definitions and give an illustration of the following:
Well-defined sets
Subsets
Universal sets
Null sets
D. Practice
a. The students will work in pairs.
b. Using the objects collected in the motivation, the students will answer the following questions:
How many sets are there?
Does each object belong to a set?
Is there an object that belongs to more than one set?

F. Evaluation
a. Write/List all the subsets of the given Universal Set.
U = {0, 1, 2, ,4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10}

E. Enrichment
a. Students will answer the following questions:
Give 3 examples of well-defined sets
Name two subsets of whole numbers using both listing or roster and the rule method.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Introduction
a. The teacher posts on the board the learning competencies to be achieved.
b. Develop the students responses and connect them to the lesson objectives.
B. Motivation
a. The teacher will draw a Venn Diagram on the floor.
b. The teacher will give a description in each part of the Venn diagram. The students will then step on the part of the
Venn diagram that best describes them.
C. Instruction / Delivery
a. Discuss the definitions and give an illustration of the following using Venn Diagrams:
Well-defined sets
Subsets
Universal sets
Null sets
D. Practice
a. The students will work in pairs.
b. Using the activity during the motivation, the students will answer the following questions:
Are there students who stepped at the center?
Are there students who stepped only on the right or the left side?
Are there students who were not able to step in any part of the Venn Diagram?
E. Enrichment
a. Students will answer the following questions:
Show the relationship of two sets using Venn Diagram
F. Evaluation
a. Write/List all the subsets of the given Universal Set and illustrate the relationships using a Venn Diagram.

A. Introduction

b. The teacher will draw a Venn diagram on the ground as illustrated below.
c. The teacher will then give a description on each part of the Venn diagram.

a. The students will work in pairs.
b. The pairs will work together in answering the guide questions to be given by the teacher.
c. Let the pairs discuss and evaluate using given guide questions.

a. Students must illustrate the relationship between two groups of objects or values using a Venn Diagram.

Set A = Students who play bato-lata A= {Ethan, Chris, Angela, Mayumi, Joanna}
Set B = Students who play shatum B= {Mayumi, Janis, Chris, Ethan, Nathan}
Determine which of the following shows union or intersection of the two sets.
Set 1 = {Ethan, Chris, Angela, Mayumi, Joanna}
Set 2 = {Mayumi, Ethan, Chris}
Set 3 = {Mayumi, Janis, Chris, Ethan, Nathan}
Set 4 = {Ethan, Chris Angela, Mayumi, Joanna, Janis, Nathan}

A. Topic: COMPLEMENT OF A SET

III. PROCEDURE
A. Introduction
a. The teacher posts on the board the learning competencies to be achieved.
b. Develop the students responses and connect them to the lesson objectives.
B. Motivation
a. Students will be given a task on listing the things that they have and the things that they dont have.
C. Instruction / Delivery
a. Discuss about the Complement of a Set
D. Practice
a. The students will work in pairs. (Partner 1 (A) and Partner 2 (B) )
b. A will list their appliances at home, same as B.
c. The students will then identify what appliances that they their classmate has and list it on their pair paper with the
following labels:
A = list of appliances that Partner 1 doesnt have
B = list of appliances that Partner 2 doesnt have
E. Enrichment
a. Students must illustrate the relationship between a set and its complement set using a Venn Diagram.
F. Evaluation
a. Shown in the table are names of students of a high school class by sets according to the definition of each set.
