Hurricane Maria

On September 20, 2017, Hurricane
Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico. It was
calculated the islands strongest storm to make
landfall in Puerto Rico in 85 years. The storm
caused destroyed houses, flooded roads, down
power lines, down trees, etc.
On early Wednesday, Maria weakened
to a category 4 storm close to landfall of Puerto named the James Webb Space Telescope or
Rico. Later that day, the storm made landfall
near Yabucoa at a 155 mph wind. Thousands of
Puerto Ricans took shelter in shelters as Maria
hit that day.
The storm also brought 175 mph wind
and pounding rain. Power lines were scattered
on several roads. Residents were stranded in
cars. Trees destroyed many cars and homes.
Flooding of the storm caused 19 police officers
stranded at their flooded stations.
After the storm, it left at least 27 dead
and millions homeless. Rescue workers drove
through the island finding and saving people
that have lost family, friends, homes, and
cars.The storm caused a level of widespread
destruction. The stormed pounded rain and
heavy winds for longer than 30 hours.
Puerto Ricans are still trying to clean up
the island. They have found destroyed houses,
smashed cars, people trapped in homes,cars and
other kinds of buildings. Puerto Ricans hope to
find friends, family, and pets soon. Soon
enough the island will be back to normal and
people will have homes, and found all family.

Lizzie, come on! My best friend, Mia,
shouted from downstairs. Were going to be
late if you dont hurry up!
At that moment, I was adding the final
touches to the cosplay I had done. I adjusted my
bright red cape before I put most of my blonde
hair on my right. I took one last glance at my
reflection, and I saw that I looked the best I
could possibly look. I walked down the stairs,
being careful not to trip and fall on my face like
I usually do. If I fall on my face, this whole
cosplay will be ruined. I told myself. Once I
finally reached the bottom floor of my house, I
saw Mia looking like an almost exact replica of
Wonder Woman. She had a fixed gaze on what
I was wearing once she saw me.
Lizzie, you look..wow.. She told me,

Oh..um..thanks. I replied awkwardly.

what I noticed, we werent missing anything, so
I told Mia to step on it once I got myself
buckled in.

The ride to the San Diego Convention
Center was full of Mia and I fangirling over the
possibility of meeting some of our idols.We
finally reached the convention center, and I felt
a smile form on my face as we approached the
building.
Little did I know that things were going
to start going down from there.
Everything went smoothly when we got
in, but everything started to go bad once the
power in the building went out. Mia and I were
in the middle of looking at some merchandise
as the building darkened.
What the heck?! An angry voice
shouted.
I payed a lot of money to get here, and
this is what happens?! An angrier voice yelled.
At that moment, some supervisors were
trying to calm down the angry guests. I decided
to check my phone, and I saw that a meteor
shower was happening at that moment.
Mia, you might want to see this, I said
as I approached her.
She immediately grabbed my phone and
read what was on the screen. Once she looked
up at me, the two of us exchanged worried
looks. Just as my mind started to fear for the
worst, the lights suddenly went back on. I
turned to Mia, who had an astonished look on
her face.
Mia, whats wrong? I asked her.
Uhh, you might wanna look down,
Lizzie, She replied.
 I looked down as Mia told me to, and I
saw that my feet were no longer were on the
ground. What the heck?! I thought. This
shouldnt be possible!
It turned out that the other people in
costume had received the powers/strengths of
the people who they were cosplaying as. That
meant that I had gotten these powers: vast
superhuman strength, speed, and stamina;
invulnerability; flight; super breath; x-ray
vision; telescopic and microscopic vision;
freeze breath; heat vision; and super hearing.
Fun, right?
Guess again.
I managed to get myself back onto the
ground, and I looked around the area. I saw
chaos unleash because people had no clue what
they were doing. People who werent
cosplaying were running around screaming like
someone just decapitated them. I was about to
start panicking, but I kept calm when I saw the
extremely worried look on Mias face.
What in the world just happened? She
suddenly asked.
Just as I was about to say something,
rumbling could be heard in the distance. The
people who werent screaming their heads off
turned to see an unusual figure approaching the
convention center.
If youre wondering what the figure
looked like, imagine a creature that comes from
your nightmares.
Then, imagine it ten times scarier.
Thats basically what it looked like.
The next few moments I barely
remember since they happened so fast. I believe
the creature ended up attacking some innocent
screaming people. I remember making myself
fly while Mia attempted use the Lasso of Truth
she had on her cosplay. The only other thing I
remember was more screaming, Mia shouting
my name, and my vision going dark.
So much for a normal day, huh?
I wish I could tell you more of what
happened, but I just dont remember anything
else.
I guess thisll a cliffhanger then.
