    Letter signed by Superintendent Dr. Susan Hull addressing the issue of gas drilling in Grand Prairie, TX. This request was to allow for the continuation of close-in shale gas drilling site development in Grand Prairie, Texas within 500 feet of school children throughout the city. The Westchester-Grand Prairie Community Alliance was seeking 1,000 Ft. from the City Council. The City compromised with 700 Feet during a heated City Council Meeting on January 21, 2011. Dr. Susan Hull sent this letter (for inclusion in the Minutes) via School Board President, Terry Brooks. It was a disturbing night for those of us who were realizing the dangers of gas drilling and the harm that was being done to our children.

    RECOMMENDATION:

    It is recommended the Board adopt a resolution opposing the section of the City of Grand Prairies
    proposed Ordinance increasing the setback for oil and gas drilling from 500 to 1000. Increasing the
    setback would hinder drilling and potentially cost the District substantial funds in lost production
    royalties.
