Guide to the Preparatory Programme for Graduate

International Students Autumn 2017

Thank you for applying to the programme!


This programme is run by the seven national universities* in Hokkaido to help
their students study and research in Japan smoothly and in a professional
manner. It is only open to the international students enrolling in a graduate
school or the international research students who wish to enrol in a graduate
school of these universities.

3. Lectures
1) Research Ethics/
This lecture contains a series of
lecture videos, imaginary cases,
quizzes and explanation videos.
Students are expected to study
proactively by not only watching the
lecture videos but also pondering
over imaginary cases and checking
their understanding by answering
quizzes.
2) Information Ethics/
This lecture consists of 6 weeks in 6
total and is split into 2 sections. In
the first half, you will find some
study materials and small quizzes to
study individually. In the second
half, you will be mainly engaged in Lecture Style (Information Ethics)
group discussions using online
forums. For more details, please
refer to the attached Lecture Style
(Information Ethics).

3Academic Skills for Graduate Students/


This lecture consists of 3 lecture 3 1
slides and 1 reference slide. Each
slide features 2 5 topics and 25
carefully explains details in order
with a lot of figures and illustrations.
By this lecture, you can prepare
yourself for the research activities
ahead both technically and mentally.
