Dornier 328-100 MAINTENANCE MANUAL SUPPLEMENT GPS ANTENNA (EGPWS) ~ REMOVAL/INSTALLATION General A This procedure has two tasks: (1) Removal of the GPS Antenna, (2) Installation of the GPS Antenna. There is one GPS Antenna installed on the upper fairing panel #5, located between stations 7991 (FR19) to 8386 (FR20), 34-45-10-020-801-A01 GPS Antenna A Airplanes with Honeywell MK V EGPWS femo Tools/Equipment (1) Sealant removal tool, hardwood or plastic. (2) Separator agent. B. Location Zones (1) Location Zones 240 - Upper forward transition fairing C. Procedure (Figure 401) (1) Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag EIN: Label Panel 2wM = EGPWS CIB panel, 18VE/S5 (2) Use seatant removal tool to break the seal around the edge of the GPS antenna. CAUTION: BE CAREFULL WHEN USING THE SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO BREAK THE ‘SEAL. USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT ‘SKIN, THE COAXIAL CABLE OR THE ANTENNA, (3) Remove any sealant from the screw holes of the antenna, if applicable. (4) Remove the mounting screws from the GPS antenna. (5) Carefully lit the GPS antenna to gain access to the coaxial connector. CAUTION: MOVE THE ANTENNA THE LEAST DISTANCE NECESSARY TO ACCESS THE COAXIAL CONNECTOR. DAMAGE TO THE COAXIAL CABLE CAN OCCUR IF THE CABLE IS PULLED TOO FAR OR WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. (8) Disconnect the coaxial connector. (7) Remove the GPS antenna and antenna gasket (8). Put protective cover on the coaxial connector. EFFECTIVITY 34-45-10 Page 401 Doc. Procedure (Figure 401) (1) Verity this circuit breaker is open and safely tag installed: FIN Label Panel 2wM = EGPWS CIB panel, 18VE/S5 (2). Visually inspect the GPS antenna, connector and cable for defects (3) Clean the GPS antenna base and aircraft contact area of any material, if necessary. (4) Beginning at one side or comer of the antenna, place gasket into position, carefully aligning gasket fastener holes with antenna fastener holes. Release film should remain on exposed “aircraft side” of gasket until immediately prior to antenna installation. NOTE: Av-DEC Gaskets are supplied with protective release fim on both sides of the gasket Leave release film in piace until ready to install gasket (6) Remove protective cover from coaxial connector and secure to the GPS antenna. (6) Place the GPS antenna into position and install 3 of the 4 mounting screws. (7) Carty out a bonding check: (a) Connect an chmmeter between the base of the GPS antenna and an aircraft ground point. Use the open antenna mounting hole for access. (b)_ Verity the measured resistance is 0.025 ohms or less. (8) Install the last antenna mounting screw. (9) Apply sealant around the base of the antenna to form an aerodynamic seal with the frame. (10) Seal GPS antenna mounting screws with sealant, if necessary. (11) Remove the safety tag and close this circut breaker: FIN Label Panel 2WM = EGPWS C/B panel, 18VE/SS (12) Perform the EGPWS ~ Adjustment/Test Operational Test per AMM 34-45-00A. (13) Put the aircraft back to its usual condition. END OF TASK-—---—-- eFFEcTIViTY ee ee EMTEQ 34-45-10 Page 403 Doe. No. 2:89565-010 prlcehans Rev.iR
