Pekingese of Mrs. W.

In the first years of my primary school1,

parents sent me to learn to play the piano
at a local culture club. I began to play scales and passages,
and then popular sonatinas, etudes and folk melodies,
under the watchful eye of nice Mrs. W. and her dog ... the Pekingese.

My teacher was a middle-aged woman of southern beauty,

always decorated with amber and gold.
The dog was familiar with the music: when I was playing with errors,
he was stepping out into the corridor. However,
he listened to the already polished works,
while lounging in his chair.

Mrs. W. taught me that music can be

both engaging and light, just right for playing in family.
After a few years I reached the basic proficiency
in playing the instrument.

The idea of further education emerged,

but already in the music school2. In front of my eyes
flashed the fate of a virtuoso
reproducing the works of other creators... Oh, no - I thought -
I will not give up games on the field for free.

At home I put the condition: I will pass exams to school,

but in exchange for a luxury snack at that time -
a can of imported peanuts3.

Will you ask about the moral?...
