Set Induction: Goodmorning! Who here can tell me who Steph Curry is? ( A basketball player
on the warriors) Has anyone ever seen his pre-game warm-up routine? Steph spends a lot of time
focusing on dribbling because it is such an important aspect of the game of basketball. Today, we
are going to go through 5 different dribbling stations that will help you improve your dribbling
skills.
I am going to count you off 1- 5. Go to whichever station # I give you. Go to that station, read
the task card, and begin moving.
Station #2: For this Station #2: At station 2, you will be dribbling Station #2: Students will be

hoops. and dribble around the hoop. Be sure to switch
hands when dribbling. You can also try to
dribble at a faster pace if youd like.
Station #3: Station #3: At this station, you will dribble Station #3: Students will be

cones. cross-over dribble and go to the next cone.
Once you get to the end, swap with your
partner and let them go back. After a few times
of going through, you can try to dribble
between your legs if youd like. You can go
slower if you need to.
Station #4: Station #4: At station 4, 2 of you will get on Station #4: Students will be

attempting to steal times. Dribblers you can turn your back to
the ball them, cross over, dribble lower, and try
anything else that may help you get through.
After the 2 of you go through, swap with the 2
in the middle.

again, but you must swap hands, go through
your legs, behind your back, go really low and
fast, or any other way you want to change it up.
Then pass it back to your partner. Keep going
for as long as you can without letting the ball
bounce away.
Culminating Activity: For the last few minutes, you get to pick which station you liked the most
and go to that station. Go to your stations! Wait for the green light!
Refinements/Challenges:
To make this more challenging, I would encourage them to speed up while dribbling and to try
and keep their eyes up.
One refinement I could make if students have trouble dribbling is to tell them to slow down and
look at their ball to focus on making good contact with the ball.
Closure:
I am going to ask you a few questions, if you know the answer, raise your hand. Is it best to slap
the ball down with the palm of your hand or spread your fingers out and push it down? (Spread
fingers and push)
How high should the ball be bouncing when you dribble? (To your waist)
Where should you be looking when you are dribbling? (Not at the ball, at your teammates)
