The people and the business world have witnessed the proliferation of computer system
that favors to meet the goal of Information Technology in a modern history of the computer.
Businesses thrive, flourish, compete and prosper, and in order for businesses to stay in the
business competition, they need to seek out for ways in maintaining a competitive edge. Before,
big companies used a logbook for listing stocks, computing sales, viewing pull-out deliveries,
and managing stocks, manually. It exerts too much time and effort for managing their inventory.

For retail businesses, it is a necessary to have an inventory system that gives the

goods have been sold. Failure to maintain an accurate inventory system will cause a big impact
to the businesses that it could lead to significant opportunity costs of missing out a good sale

In a retail company like EN Barong Filipino, multiple transactions are made on a daily
basis. These may range from marketing, product development, monitoring of cash flows,
promotion, beginning and ending inventory to clerical work. All these require manpower which
may mean a slash on the cash budget and the possible outpour of workload.
The researchers have come up with a proposed study to develop their existing manual

Developing this kind of system made an easier way for the user in processing the records.

Inventory is one of the most important in monitoring a stock that take place in business
activity. The inventory system does the entire task in computing the value with inventory (cost
and quality) and handling data or information. Inventory System maintains an orderly flow of
supplies, raw materials, or finished goods through an office shop/factory because of items in any
inventory. Represents cost, they need to be controlled. The purpose of inventory system for
management are to keep inventory levels and cost at desire minimums while maintaining to
proper safeguards over materials to places and people who need them. (Warren R. Planret, 2002).
Brian Sutter stated in the article that all of us have experienced inventory problems.
Inaccurate information counts that cause mischance or bad lucks, delays because of not accurate
information resulting in displeased customers, costly end-of-year write-offs, and wasted time
spent looking for lost inventory, are the most common pain points sited by businesses. Manually
tracking inventory is an old way. Upgrading your business will only result in more money saved,
improved record keeping, easily located inventory and time saved. (Brian Sutter, Fight Inventory

Inventory management systems were created to help dealerships implement, maintain, and
fine-tune their inventory plans. Dealers who use inventory management systems realize quicker
vehicle turns and a higher ROI (Return On Investment) than dealers that dont. Choosing the
right system can make a significant contribution to your inventory management efforts. This
strategy helps a lot to come up with a successful outcome. (Tim Zierden, 2009).
According to Audra Bianca, using Sales and Inventory Monitoring System, the company
scheduling, pricing, and other decisions in the supply chain. Sales and inventory data allows the
company to decide whether they will increase or decrease the production of goods in their
factory so the company won't have too many finished products or stocks stored in its
warehouses. It collects data to provide what is necessary in production scheduling. The system
compares current inventory status of a product and the number scheduled for production with the
number needed, and it can determines if the level of production must be changed. Automated
sales and inventory monitoring gives a company a competitive advantage by linking different
automated processes within the supply chain. For example, automating the ordering process for
customers and the production scheduling, then adjusting manufacturing based on up to date
inventory levels, makes a company more flexible, capable of deciding how to best satisfy the
According to Jeff Wourio, online sales and inventory system are designed to directly record
all sales and inventory transactions. It is less disturbing to a business owner than observing their
his inventory disparities to seemingly endless cash-register reconciliation. Perhaps the greatest
advantage to a comprehensive point of sale network is the freedom it can afford on personnel to
devote their energy to what genuinely matters the most helping customers.
Sales and marketing information systems are used to build a new good and services

or site analysis), determine the best advertising and sales approaches (promotion analysis), and
set product prices to get the highest total revenues (price analysis), Stair and Reynolds stated on

technology plays a major role. It makes our job easier, faster and more accurate. Due to that fact,
the automated scheme has become essential to small and big companies for they are expected to
give the best services possible. Nevertheless, some businesses still prefer sticking with the
system that is not integrated with technology. Probable causes are computer illiterate staff and
lack of funds. Companies, especially the big ones are recommended to switch from manual to
automated systems because this will improve the efficiency and productivity of the business
One of the most sought after automated systems of different companies is a purchasing and
inventory system which comes hand in hand. A purchasing and inventory system is very
important in every organization because a good purchase and inventory management can create
excellent productivity. Primarily, inventory work consists of input, output and restock. Input is a
process of buying new products into the inventory and replacing the old products with the new
ones. Meanwhile, output is a procedure of taking out the products from the inventory for sales or
usage and refill is a process of increasing the number of existing products in the inventory in
order to fulfill the insufficient products or escalating demands. Most of the retailing market is
using traditional way in the inventory management system where a person is assigned to check
and record the stock by hand using pen and paper. It is where operations with regards to all the
In an article entitled Stop Employee Pilferage: Inventory controls are key to dissuade
employees from stealing the author said that: Computers can only do much, but coupled with
inculcating honesty among staff and instituting the appropriate deterrents, they can work very
well in minimizing losses and pilferages. It is therefore highly advisable to do both the manual
and the computerized inventory system in a retail and wholesale business. (Junaito Villegas,
2009)
Most small businesses underestimate the importance of managing their inventory. They do
not realize that many headaches and fire drills are caused by the lack of control and knowledge
of their inventory. Whether it is a lack of knowledge of the quantity or specs of a certain product,
businesses too frequently use outdated inventory systems. Insufficient systems do not allow
them to get the most out of their inventory, because when used properly, inventory management
systems allow businesses to make a concise, real time analysis of products and markets that help
them make better business decisions. Inventory management systems also allow businesses to
better serve their customers since they keep a detailed and accurate record of purchase histories
and trends so they can reorder products more efficiently restaurant business was primarily

not easy to get using paper methods or an in-house spreadsheet. Systems that are specific to the
lab can be used relatively quickly without a significant learning curve or system customization.
The ability to analyze the inventory, item usage, purchasing history, and other areas (e.g., lot
numbers, equipment) are important improvements to spreadsheets and paper systems. If the
system includes equipment tracking, it can be used to determine the capital asset as well as track
the service history and lifespan of equipment. The ability to streamline and automate many of the
inventory control tasks will be increasingly important to reduce hands-on time while improving
the analysis of trends, reducing stock-outs, and avoiding expiring reagents. The ability to ensure
that the right reagent in the right quantity is present at the right time is critical to laboratory
operations. Given that reagents are approximately one-half of most labs' operating budgets, a
continued focus on this expense will assist the laboratory in continuing to provide accurate and
