Thermal transmittance, also known as U-value, is the rate of transfer of heat (in watts) through
one square meter of a structure, divided by the difference in temperature across the structure.
It is expressed in watts per square meter Kelvin, or W/mK. Well-insulated parts of a building
have a low thermal transmittance whereas poorly insulated parts of a building have a high
thermal transmittance. Losses due to thermal radiation, thermal convection and thermal
conduction are taken into account in the U-value.

Energy Performance
h = 8.3 W/m-K
=22.7 W/m-K
Rt = 1/8.3 + ((0.0065/0.721) + (0.0125/0.19) + (0.0125/0.19) + (0.05/0.044) + (1/6.22) +
(0.1/0.044) + (0.0125/.35) + (0.0108/0.721)) + 1/22.7 = 3.7665
U= 1 / Rt = 1 / 3.7665 = 0.265 W/m-K

h = 6.1 W/m-K
=22.7 W/m-K
Rt = 1/6.1 + ((0.020/0.14) + (1/6.22) + (0.010/0.03) + (0.100/0.043) + (0.004/0.22) +
(0.05/0.08) + 1/22.7 = 3.8137
U= 1 / Rt = 1 / 3.7665 = 0.26 W/m-K
