STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM Spring 2018

The ENLACE Ambassador Program is a talented group of students who gain valuable volunteer
and leadership experience that transform communities. There are limited positions available,
which every student must go through an application and selection process. Student Ambassadors
are current SJC students selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship, professionalism and
desire to promote education and the better being of their community. Ambassadors uphold the
philosophy, mission and goals of ENLACE through personal example and Servant Leadership.

Qualifications
Must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester and stay enrolled throughout the semester
Must have and maintain 2.75 GPA or higher (GED 480)
Bilingual (Spanish/English) - Preferred
Practice and uphold professionalism including responsibility, dependability and punctuality
Sincere desire to represent SJC and ENLACE as a Student Ambassador
Knowledge of Microsoft Applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.
Reliable transportation Preferred

Responsibilities
Provide service learning hours with ENLACE/Herencia Latina Programs by completing a
minimum of 3 mandatory events each semester
Collaborate with various departments on campus
Outreach, recruit, mentor, make appropriate student referrals
Identify and attend professional/educational training/conference/symposium/seminar
Attend an ambassador training at the beginning of each semester
Attend bi-weekly meetings
Mentor high school students, work with parents, and conduct presentations Spanish/English
Plan, design, and carryout programs and activities
Must represent ENLACE with professionalism at all times
Meet with a mentor, coach or ENLACE staff at prescribed intervals to assure your academic and
personal success!
Work a minimum of 3 hours a week throughout the 2017-2018 Academic Year
Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA per semester.
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 20 lbs.

Other Information
Number of positions available changes by semester, and according to funding.
All responsibilities are required, as stated above, to receive stipend and other program incentives
Ambassadors are responsible for notifying ENLACE staff if they are unable to make their
scheduled event (within 24-hours of event start-time). If missing an event, Ambassador must
makeup missed event with an equivalent event that semester
One unexcused absence from assigned event or meetings will result in your termination from the
Student Ambassador program and all funding will have to be refunded to ENLACE

Sincere desire to represent ENLACE events and San Juan College
Enthusiasm to work with the Latino community, but not limited to
Comfortable in large or small groups and give presentations
Ability to work well with others
Responsible and dependable
Desire to learn and develop skill sets described above
Commitment and willingness to serve others
Aspiration to make a difference for educational advancements

Application Procedure
1. Fill out the application and submit by 5:00 PM January 10, 2018 electronically to:
avilao@sanjuancollege.edu or drop it off at the Herencia Latina Center in Room 1616, or the
ENLACE Family Center on 30th St.
i) Positions will be filled on a first come, first serve basis
2. Attach transcripts and class schedule.
3. If called for an interview, it will be a bilingual interview.
4. Reference check by ENLACE Personnel
5. You must attend an Ambassador training date TBA

If selected as an ENLACE Ambassador, you will be provided with a shirt which will be required to be worn at all events.
You will be expected to return the shirt once you have completed your service learning hours.
