Since the 1900s, the population has been growing drastically in a number of
countries. From Lebanon to Mexico it seems a majority of countries have been
experiencing this growth. With more people comes more problems. There is less space,
more natural resources are consumed, and it is easier for disease to spread. The
amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the highest it has ever been in centuries
(somehow we know this). Humans are only a couple thousand years old, which is like
still a baby for a species, yet we have advanced greatly in the realm of science. We may
have to consider that we have been planted on this planet as a virus by an alien species
to slowly kill it until it is a barren wasteland. These aliens want a huge population growth
in order destroy the Earth and then harvest the human species for food. 65 million years
ago the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Many scientific evidence indicates that dinosaurs
were big, awkward lizards. How could we possibly know what color dinosaurs really
were? Well we dont and we wont. That is not the point. They were indeed savages that
ate each other but they were also a highly advanced species cable of space travel.
During their explorations they came across a dangerous species from a galaxy
far far away. They went to war and the dinosaurs lost. The aliens wiped out the
dinosaurs using a dwarf planet (which happened to be the sister planet to pluto) and
flung into the Earth. This caused a massive disruption in the Earths tectonic plates.
Volcanoes erupted, the earth literally split apart and all of the dinosaurs died except for
3. These three dinosaurs were the leaders of the entire population of dinosaurs. They
are trapped in an immortal containment unit (a machine that preserves life and
consciousness as if to keep the inhabitat alive as long as they remain inside the unit)
and forced to watch a virus kill the Earth they loved so very much for the rest of their
days. The faster we grow, the sooner the aliens will come to destroy us.
This leads me to the idea of limiting family size. In China, they limit family size.
35% of couples are allowed to have only one child and 59% of those couples are
allowed to have a second child if their first child was a girl. In America, we cant limit
family size because freedom of speech. How would we stop people from having
children? If an extra child were to be born what would happen to it? What would happen
to reality TV if people were only limited to one child? Clearly that is not a solution that is
plausible for this country but I would like to go over a few pros for limiting families. First
off, average income would be higher, population would decrease a fair amount, there
would be plenty of schooling and job opportunities for the next generation, there would
be less pollution, less traffic, less trash in landfills and most importantly we would never
reach the amount of humans required for harvest (which is actually quite a lot but we
dont want to risk it do we?). While there are many pros to this, the government cant
stop love. Ever.
