Hospital Processing Cycle Operational Auditing

1. Input
a. Physical
Basic Facilities (The same for every business) = Buildings, human resources,
utilities (electricity, water, telephone), parking place, generator, air conditioner,
computer
Special Facilities (Different depends on each business type) = Medical equipment
(ultrasound and MRI machines, PET and CT scanners, and x-ray machines, etc),
medical supplies (hand gloves, face mask, needle, etc), medical inventory
(medicines)
b. Non-physical
Organizational structure (management), computer software, SOP (Standard
Operating Procedure), system (routinely conducted SOP becomes system)

2. Process
Process in hospital involves:
a. Human Resources (did the medical process)
b. Organizational Structure (work schedule)
c. System (payment system, operation system, etc) -> must be supported by other
function/division
d. Equipment (computer, medical equipment, etc)
e. Medical Supplies (hand gloves, face mask, needle, etc)
f. Medical Inventory (medicines)

3. Output
a. Accreditation
b. Unit: number of patients served
c. Time Consumption: time completion of medical process
Output can be compared with other hospital within similar qualifications to find out the
best practice.

4. Outcome (long run)


a) Customer (patients) satisfaction
b) Public health in general increases
Outcome cannot be compared.
