MFR 15
Multi Function Relay
Protection & Control

APPLICATIONS DESCRIPTION

The MFR 1 Series is a family of industrial grade protective Protection (all) ANSI # Complete generator
relays that offer multiple protective features in a single Over-/undervoltage (59/27)
Over-/underfrequency (81O/U)
protection and con-
package.
Voltage asymmetry (47) troller in one unit
Using a digital processor to measure true RMS values Overload (32) True RMS sensing
enables the control to have a high measuring accuracy, Reverse power (32R)
regardless of harmonics, transients or disturbing pulses. Reduced power (32F) Synchronization for
Unbalanced load (46) one breaker
The MFR 15 model includes a synchronizer and a load Loss of excitation (40Q)
(kW) and power factor (cosphi) controller via discrete Independent time-overcurrent (50/51) Load sharing
outputs to combine protection and control into one unit.
The SNY-I package offers additional functionality. It has Package SYN-I Discrete inputs for
kW load sharing capability for multiple unit applications. Synchronizer for 1 CB remote control
o Isolated operation
The compact size and multiple functions of the MFR 15 o Mains parallel operation Programmable relay
help to simplify switchgear design. The digital display Speed/frequency/real power outputs
offers a user-friendly interface to setup the unit as well as Voltage/power factor (cosphi)
monitor the operation and display any alarms. Remote real power set-point (0/4 to 20 mA)
PC and front panel
Load sharing via 0 to 4 Vdc analog line configurable
Interface RS-485/Modbus RTU Slave Microprocessor
Features (all)
True RMS voltage (generator/busbar) technology for
True RMS current (generator) accurate, repeatable
Configurable trip/control set points and reliable
Configurable delays for each alarm operation
3 configurable relays
3 dedicated control relay outputs Programmable

synch voltage measurement:
The synchronizing voltage must be connected three-
phase if the measuring voltage is connected three-
s2 (l) phase (N not connected). If the measuring voltage is
connected four-phase (L1-L2-L3-N), the synchronizing
Generator currrent L2 voltage may be connected two-phase (L1-L2). L3 is
s1 (k) connected only for compensation and is not measured.
