Applications for research grants can be submitted at any time during the year. The
research proposal should be submitted in the prescribed proforma (Form-C & Form-CI).
The application should be forwarded, through the Head of the concerned institution
duly certified that (i) the core facilities are available and will be provided to the
investigator(s) to work on the proposed scheme, and (ii) the department/Institute will
discharge all its obligations, particularly in respect of management of the grants given

26.. Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facilities (SAIF) USERS

The instrument facilities provided by the SAIFs are being utilized by about 8,000 users
from academic institutions, R&D laboratories and industries from all over the country
every year and are one of the major sources of sophisticated analytical instruments for
research workers from many of the institutions who do not have access to such facilities
at their institutes. The users from almost all the universities in the country are using the
facilities at the SAIFs. The users also include about 800 industries including MNCs, large
and small industries in the areas of chemicals, agro-chemicals, petro-chemicals, drugs
and pharmaceuticals, food processing, soaps and detergents, cement, metallurgy,
electronics etc.

General Information

The facilities provided by the SAIFs may be utilized by any user/organization on


payment of nominal charges. The details about the procedure for using the facilities and
the charges for sample analysis, information about short term courses/training
programmes/workshops etc. can be obtained from the respective Heads of the SAIFs or
the websites of the Facilities (Annexure 1V).

When and how to submit a proposal


The deadline for receiving applications is 31 May each year.
Individual applicants must with a PhD and some research experience, but at the
beginning of their careers. They should hold positions at universities or research
institutions in one of the OIC countries. As a general rule, the grants are awarded to
competent scientists under the age of 40 years.
Applications should preferably be submitted by e-mail to
researchgrants@twas.org. The first page of the application must bear the handwritten
or electronic signatures of the applicant and the head of the applicant's institution.

When and how to submit a proposal


Research proposals can be sent any time during the year to CPRI.The individual project
funding is in the range of Rs 5 lakhs to 30 lakhs.The formats for submission of proposal
and other details pertaining to the scheme are available on the CPRI Web site (URL:
http://www.cpri.in) or can be obtained by writing to Head, R&D Coordination Division.
Proposals prepared in the format should be submitted through the head of the
respective institution to CPRI. The Principal Investigator is normally required to make
presentation on the proposal to the RSoP Expert Committee.

When and how to submit a proposal

The proposals should preferably be submitted in response to announcements made by


ISRO for such purpose from time to time. There is no last date for submitting proposals.
Decisions on support are generally taken twice in a year, during February-March and
August-September. Each proposal must name a Principal Investigator from the
institution forwarding the application. There may also be co-investigator(s) from
different institutions working on the project. But satisfactory completion of a project will
be the responsibility of the Principal Investigator and his institution.
