1. Course Description: This course aims to provide an overview of key supply chain risk areas,
particularly with the proliferation of outsourcing, use of information technology and global
logistics. Students will also see how companies are managing the preparation, mitigation and
response strategies to major disruptive events. Topics covered include science of catastrophes,
vulnerability and threat assessments, resources and capabilities identification/integration, basic
risk mitigation strategies, contingency planning, product recall and disaster recovery and
business continuity in supply chain settings.
2. COURSE OBJECTIVES: By the end of this course, student should be able to:

The students should be able to conceptualize supply chain risk areas in world and understand how
companies are managing the preparation, mitigation and response strategies to major disruptive
events in global logistics.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, student should be able to:
Relate the science of catastrophes from a theoretical perspective to practical
happenings in organizations and the World
Learn the vulnerability and threat assessments of supply chain
Map out resources and capabilities identification/integration for supply
chain
Understand the importance of basic risk mitigation strategies and
contingency planning with respect to supply chain
Participate in planning product recall, disaster recovery and
business continuity in supply chain settings for various companies
