Río de Janeiro

Río de Janeiro es considerado una de las más hermosas ciudades del mundo. Esta
ciudad cosmopolita es la puerta de entrada a Brasil y es la más visitada y mundialmente
famosa de todas las ciudades brasileras. El Estado de Río de Janeiro está localizado en
el sudeste de Brasil, la región más desarrollada, más rica y poblada del país.

Fue capital del país por casi 20 años y hoy en día es uno de los principales centros de
cultura del país, con sus innumerables cines, teatros, museos, salas de concierto, casas
de show, galerías de arte y bibliotecas. Ofrece una gastronomía única con una oferta
excelente de cocina típica y regional brasileña así como también buena cocina
internacional.

La multitud de turistas que llegan de todos los lugares del mundo se solazan del espíritu
de la ciudad y su gente. Las oportunidades de entretenimiento, placer y diversión tienen
como límite sólo su propia imaginación. Aunque Río es una ciudad cosmopolita conserva
también numerosos testimonios de su pasado. Esto se ve en el barroco de las iglesias y
monasterios, el Art déco de fachadas residenciales bastante preservadas, en la
arquitectura modernista de los años 50.

El Pao de Azúcar (Pan de Azúcar) es la imagen más explotada en las tarjetas postales.
Existen dos funiculares que elevan al visitante a 396 metros. El acceso es a través de un
vagón de ferrocarril (bondinho), teleférico panorámico que ofrece una de las más bellas
vistas de la ciudad. Otro de los más bellos símbolos de Río de Janeiro es el Cristo
Redentor, situado en el tope del Monte del Corcovado, a 710 metros del nivel del mar. El
monumento mide 38 metros de altura y pesa 1145 toneladas.

El carnaval de Rio de Janeiro es el mayor del mundo y sin dudas uno de los más
magníficos de todos los carnavales. En esta colorida y gran fiesta se encuentran bandas,
grupos y escuelas de samba que esperan ansiosos durante todo el año la llegada de esta
fecha para lucirse y demostrar su alegría.
