The Master can expect that the inspection will take about 7 to 8 hours and be performed in the following order,
unless the order of inspection should be altered to fit the vessel’s schedule:
It should be noted that the Emergency Fire Pump, Emergency Generator, Emergency Steering and the
Oily Water Separator will be expected to be operated by the officer accompanying the inspector.
Any variation necessary to avoid disruption of the ship’s normal operation will be considered.
The order of inspection can easily be varied as necessary.
During the final meeting, a list of observations will be reviewed with the Master. This review is to
ensure that there are no observations that can be cleared because of a simple misunderstanding. The
Master is not expected to provide corrective actions or to indicate he agrees with the observations.
Please be kindly advised that as per TOTAL S.A. existing policies and procedures, the inspector is not
allowed to leave a written listing of observations on board.
