Resolution no.

____ Series of 2017

“A RESOLUTION MANDATING THE SUPREME STUDENT COUNCIL TO AWARD AND


RECOGNIZE DESERVING JOSENIAN STUDENTS”

WHEREAS​, Article II Section 2 of the USJ-R SSC Constitution states that “The members of
the USJ-R SSC believe in the policy of the state to promote the welfare and
interest of the students by defining their rights and privileges to establish a
sound relationship among them, the faculty members, and the school
administration to ultimately prepare them for a bigger responsibility as
law-abiding citizens.”

WHEREAS​, Article III, Section 1 of the 2012 SSC Constitution stipulates that, ““We
envision that the USJ-R Supreme Student Council to be an excellent student
council which serves as training ground for the future leaders of the Filipino
society equipped with leadership skills and imbued with Christian values
who will work for general formation to a new world through a new youth.”

WHEREAS​, The SSC Constitution of the University of San Jose – Recoletos’ Student
Manual 2012 Edition states that, “The SSC shall embody the ideals and
aspirations, foster brotherhood and unity, promote the general welfare and
perpetuate lasting rights and values to the students.”

WHEREAS​, The Supreme student council is hereby ordered for the destruction of any
forms of oppression in the entire University of San Jose- Recoletos.

WHEREAS​, the Supreme Student Council is recognized as one of the channels of


developing and improving the student’s potentials, leadership formation,
social involvement, apostolate, and assistance to the university in carrying
out its programs for student welfare and does this to all students no
exemption.

WHEREAS​, that the very Preamble of the SSC Constitution enshrines the “Brotherhood
and Unity” among the Josenians and “Promote the general welfare and
perpetuate lasting rights and values” of the students.

WHEREAS​, the Supreme Student Council recognizes the excellence of every student,
regardless of sex, age, class, status, ethnicity, color, disability, religious and
political beliefs, sexual orientation or gender identity.

WHEREAS​, this resolution seeks to uplift, inspire, and raise the pride of each Josenians to
be an excellent and community oriented individual.

WHEREAS​, this shall serve as an avenue of excellence and recognition to all deserving
Josenian Students regardless of any personal biases.

RESOLVED THAT​, the Supreme Student Council shall organize an event that recognizes
and awards students who made a mark in line with the core values of
the university, I.N.S.P.I.R.E..

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT​, this event shall be named as JOSENIAN PRIDE.

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT​, this event shall be a whole day activity in which the
Supreme Student Council, together with the Vice-president of Academic Affairs and
Vice-president of Students Welfare, awards students with the INSPIRE core values;

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT, this event will not only encourage camaraderie but
support the LGBT community to excel;

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT, that the shall afternoon event will consist of a Rainbow
Olympics where the LGBT can participate and exhibit talent in sports;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that having this event will not only promote individuality but
also promote the school’s stand in Social, Political, and Economic Equality for all;

RESOLVED FINALLY THAT​, copies of this resolution be furnished to Rev. Fr. Cristopher C.
Maspara, OAR, University President; Rev. Fr. Nestor C. Raras, OAR, VP-Student Welfare;
Atty. Jesus D. Velez, Director of Student Affairs Office; Hon. Mark Roland A. Romas, SSC 36​th
Congress President; Hon. Fideles Rigel B. Samuya, SSC 36​th Congress Secretary; Hon.
Michael Benedict O. Tuba, SSC 36​th Congress Treasurer; and Hon. Cybelle Ginn A. Villegas,
SSC 36​th​ Congress House Speaker.
