BEETHOVEN’S

CHAMBER MUSIC
Music Appreciation
Lectures
Monday Mornings
with
Matthew Taylor at
Blackheath Halls

Beethoven’s chamber music is as great as his orchestral music if not quite so much in popular
demand. Yet his writing for chamber ensemble spans an even longer period over his years and
divides in line with the three great periods to which each work belongs. Beethoven was the
great all rounder and his chamber works illustrate his versatility in all fields. Matthew will
explore the world of the cello sonatas, the violin sonatas, the string trios and the piano trios, the
sixteen string quartets and some chamber music for winds. Here is your chance to probe deep
into chamber music and follow Beethoven from the cradle to the grave.
