TITLE: “CLIMATE CHANGE’ (2 seconds)

If you, or anyone you know are confused about climate change…

STICK MAN WITH “?” ABOVE HIS HEAD (3.75 seconds)

Think of it like taking a hot shower.

RUNNING SHOWER WITH TAP ON “HOT” (2 seconds)

When taking a hot shower, it is a good and easy way to wash your body.

STICK MAN WITH BAR OF SOAP IN HIS HAND (4 seconds)

And while showering, you want to stay in the warm water for longer, even after you are clean.

CLOCK WITH MOVING HANDS (5 seconds)

And when you take long showers, steam builds up making the room very warm.

BATHROOM WITH STICK MAN SLOWLY GETTING BLURRY AND FOGGY (5 seconds)

And the warmth and the steam in the air causes condensation.

WATER DROPLETS ON THE WALL (3.5 seconds)

And condensation over time will cause mold.

MOLDY CHEESE (2.75 seconds)

Which can make you sick.

SICK STICKMAN (2 seconds)

This is what it is like for climate change.

CLIMATE CHANGE ACROSS SCREEN (3 seconds)

The hot shower, is the use of fossil fuels for things like energy production, which is needed.

COAL FACTORY CREATING ENERGY (6 seconds)

And after generating energy easily, more energy demands need to be met.

ENERGY LEVEL “BARS” LABELED “BEFORE AND AFTER” GOING LOW TO HIGH (5 seconds)

Then you become reliant on fossil fuels, like in the oil economy or in energy production.

OIL BARRELS, MONEY SIGNS (5.5 seconds)

And when fossil fuels are used for so long, the atmosphere fills up with greenhouse gases like carbon
dioxide and methane.
DRAWING OF EARTH PLUS ATMOSPHERE LAYER WITH FILLING WITH GASES, LABELED CO2 AND
METHANE (7 seconds)

And when the gases build up, it causes the earth, its oceans and its atmosphere to warm up.

EARTH WITH A THERMOMETER GOING UP (5.5 seconds)

Overtime it causes flooding, heat waves, melting ice caps, hurricanes, wildfires, and other things which
can all kill you.

HIGH WATERS IN A CITY, DESERTS, MELTING ICE CAPS, HURRICANES, WILDFIRES. (9 seconds)

Now, you can say, “Well why don’t you just open the window and let the steam out?”

STICKMAN MOUTHING THE WORDS (4 seconds)

The window equivalent for earth is our ozone layer, which protects us from harmful UV rays, and your
neighbours from hearing your singing.

EARTH SKETCH WHERE THE SUN RAYS GO THROUGH A HOLE IN THE ATMOSPHERE. OTHERS
REFLECTNG OFF (7.25 seconds)

The steam will go away after a while, it always does after my showers!

STICKMAN MOUTHING THE WORDS (4 seconds)

Yes, but your showers aren’t decades long, like how we’ve been using fossil fuels. Meeting our energy
needs means leaving on that shower 24/7 and the steam lasting millions of times longer. This means
that, even if we stop using fossil fuels now, that it would take a very very long time for the earth to heal.

SKETCH OF EARTH WITH GAS, DATE GOING FROM PRESENT DAY TO CENTURIES IN THE FUTURE, GAS
SLOWLY FADING AWAY. (19 seconds)

Well, if it’s so warm in my bathroom, why does it always feel cold getting out?

STICKMAN MOUTHING THE WORDS (5.5 seconds)

While you may feel cold, it doesn’t mean the air around you is cold and that nothing is happening. This is
called Polar Vortex, where the warming of the earth and its atmosphere cause the weakening of certain
jet streams which then allow cool air to flow, causing colder temperatures.

SKETCH OF EARTH WITH BLUE AREA SURROUNDED BY ARROWS, THEN IT LEAKING OUT COLD AIR
(15.5 seconds)

So what can I do then?

STICKMAN MOUTHING WORDS (2 seconds)

Have a cold shower. By having a cold shower, you still meet your hygienic needs, but you don’t create
steam. By switching to greener energy, you will meet your energy needs and will not create harmful
greenhouse gases.

SCENE WITH COAL POWER PLANT, PUT A RED CIRCLE WITH LINE THROUGH IT, AND GREEN CIRCLE
AROUND SOLAR ENERGY. (12 seconds) (6.5)(6)

While you may have to get used to the cold water and sacrifice a few things like warmth and comfort,
saving the planet is pretty worth it.

STICKMAN SHIVERING BUT SMILING. (7.25 seconds)

So if we can understand showers, why can’t we understand climate change?
