It’s Not Too Late To Get Your Flu Shot

On December 13, 2017 New York State Department of Health declared flu prevalent
throughout the state. Locally there had been a rise in the number of cases of the flu. The most
prevalent strain of the flu virus currently circulating is flu A H3N2. This strain is included in this
year’s flu vaccine. Lewis County Public Health is strongly urging individuals who have not yet
received their flu vaccine to do so. Flu season typically peaks between December and February,
and can last until May, so it is certainly not too late to get your flu vaccine. Flu vaccine can be
obtained at Lewis County Public Health, your doctor’s office, or your pharmacy. Call Lewis
County Public Health at 315-376-5453 for any questions you may have regarding this year’s flu
season or the flu vaccine.
