1 Introduction
Note: A defect in SQL Server 2008 (all editions) means that it returns too many rows when
providing a filter to the SQL statement. This can affect data returned into the grids in
AVEVA Instrumentation. This has been fixed in the SP3 release by Microsoft, hence
we support only the SP3 versions.
Hardware and Software Describes the hardware, operating systems and software
Requirements for Installing environments required for SQL Server installations.
SQL Server
2 Installation
If you intend creating and printing datasheets you are required to have Microsoft Excel
installed (Excel 2007 and 2010 supported).
Since AVEVA Instrumentation processes lots of information a faster computer with more
memory will perform better than a PC with less memory and a slower processor, particularly
when auto generating drawings and datasheets, and when loading large datasets for
equipment terminations and component layouts.
Note: If a workstation has less than 512Mb RAM or has a monitor less than 1024 x 768, the
installer will not install AVEVA Instrumentation. Furthermore, AVEVA Instrumentation
cannot be installed unless the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is already installed.
• The Welcome to this AVEVA DVD page will then be displayed in a browser window.
Click on the Click for contents link.
• A page will then be displayed listing the products on the disk. Select the AVEVA
Instrumentation option.
• The next page will provide access to the latest user documentation and release notes.
View these as required, and then select the INSTALL option.
• Alternatively, run the setup.exe file on the installation disk, located in a sub-folder of
the “int” folder, for example “\int\t10444\ainst120SP3”.
• The AVEVA Instrumentation Setup wizard is then started.
Note: If you are running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 right-click on the Setup.exe
file and click Run as Administrator.
If you are installing a partial (Fix) release the following steps will upgrade your current
installation to the new version:
• Start the installation wizard as described above. On the welcome screen click Next to
proceed.
• Click Install to install the product.
• Click Finish to complete the installation.
Note: Although the disk contains several AVEVA products, the user will only be able to use
the items that are licensed to them. The user will get an on-screen notification to
warn them when the license is due for renewal.
AVEVA Instrumentation is supported for use with Citrix for multi site working.
3 Project Setup
After installation you will either need to setup a new AVEVA Instrumentation project (and
database) or select an existing project Workgroup file. The Workgroup file is a data file that
holds the details of all AVEVA Instrumentation projects located on your system.
Run an AVEVA Instrumentation module. If this is the first time an AVEVA Instrumentation
application (or module) has been run on this specific workstation, the Browse For Folder
window will be displayed.
Note: If you intend to run a project using multiple AVEVA Instrumentation users then this
Workgroup file folder should be accessible on a common network drive.
The AVEVA Instrumentation Workgroup file is a Microsoft Access database that contains a
single table which holds the names and locations of all your AVEVA Instrumentation
projects.
Note: If you need to reset a workstation’s Workgroup file (e.g. if you select the wrong
folder) you should simply delete the file ‘Inst.ini’.
If Instrumentation is installed on XP, this file will located in:
Documents and Settings\<user name of installer>\Application Data
If Instrumentation is installed on Vista or Windows 7, this file will located in:
Users\<user name of installer>\AppData\Roaming
If this does not exist, AVEVA Instrumentation will ask for the Workgroup file once
again.
Note: You must have SQL Server Administration rights to create a SQL project database.
You will also need to know the Server Name.
Refer to Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server and SQL
Server Setup for more information.
SQL Server Name: Click the [...] button to display the SQL Server login window, used to
create the new project database on a selected SQL Server. Refer to SQL Server Setup for
details.
Instrument Tag Format: AVEVA Instrumentation supports many types of instrument tag
formats. The Tag Format must be set when a project is created. Click the button next to the
Instrument Tag Number field to display the Select a Tag Number for the Project Field
window.
The tag formats currently supported by AVEVA Instrumentation include/exclude plant area
numbers and delimiters (‘-‘). The Tag Format list above shows examples of a typical tag
numbers based on the specific Tag Format.
Different Tag formats can be selected for Instruments and Loops.
Note: If the project’s tag format is not included in this list refer to the AVEVA
Instrumentation Engineer Help documentation to for information on how to add and
edit tag formats.
Either click on a Tag Format in the list and click Select, or double-click on the required Tag
Format.
Project Fields: Populate the other project fields such as Project Description, Plant Name,
Client Name etc.
Project Folder: This is the ‘root’ project folder. By default, once entered (or browsed to), the
other project folder names are automatically completed using this root. These can
subsequently be edited if required (see below).
Note: AVEVA Instrumentation will create all the project folders if they do not already exist
when Save is clicked.
Note: If you intend to run a project using multiple AVEVA Instrumentation users then all
folders must be accessible on a common network drive for all users AND the
mapped drive letter must be the same for ALL users.
Other Folders: All other folder names are user definable but (logically) should reside under
the same root folder for ease of management. Although in theory everything could be
located in the same folder this would be difficult to manage as the number of files grows.
Therefore it is recommended that each group of files is located in a different sub-folder.
When you have completed the project details, click Save.
AVEVA Instrumentation will then create the new project database on the nominated Server.
AVEVA Instrumentation will also create all the project folders if they do not already exist.
Once created AVEVA Instrumentation will show the created project in the ‘Select a Project’
window.
When an AVEVA Instrumentation module is started, if only a single project has been created
(i.e. is listed in the Workgroup file), this project will be automatically selected and opened.
If more than one project has been created, then the Select a Project window is displayed,
from which the required project can be selected:
To create further projects, select the New button on the Select a Project window. The Create
a New Project window is then displayed, and should be completed as described above.
The Select a Project window can also be opened by selecting the Open Project option from
the Project tab of AVEVA Instrumentation modules.
Note: If you wish to remove a project from the list in the Select a Project window, open the
Projects.Mdb Access database located in the Workgroup folder and delete the
appropriate record. The SQL server database will not be affected on the database
server.
The project folders may be edited after the project is created from the ‘Project Edit’ option of
any AVEVA Instrumentation application (once a user has logged on to the project).
However, AVEVA Instrumentation will not move any existing files to any new folders. This
must be done manually after folder creation.
Note: Login information is not saved anywhere and is used once to connect to the Server
to create the database.
Note: Refer to Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server.
When setting up a new project, the SQL Server login window is displayed when the button
next to the SQL Server Name field is pressed (see Creating a New Project). This is used to
create the new project database on a selected SQL Server.
Test that the entered details are valid by clicking Test Connection.
Clicking OK will run a script to create the new AVEVA Instrumentation database.
account is used by AVEVA Instrumentation to enable future updates and upgrades for the
database.
Note: Once security is switched on, by default users will have no access until they are
added to a Security group.
The SQL Server Hardware and Software Requirements section describes the hardware,
operating systems and software environments required for 32-bit and 64-bit SQL Server
installations that AVEVA supports.
Please note that we ONLY support AVEVA Instrumentation running on the Enterprise,
Standard or Express versions of SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 and SQL Server 2012.

• On Windows Server 2003, SQL Server services can run under a domain account or a
local system account.
• You cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service
account or a network service account.
• After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a
domain member to a domain controller. You must uninstall SQL Server before you
change the host computer to a domain controller.
• After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a
domain controller to a domain member. You must uninstall SQL Server before you
change the host computer to a domain member.
• SQL Server failover cluster instances are not supported where cluster nodes are
domain controllers.
• SQL Server Setup cannot create security groups or provision SQL Server service
accounts on a read-only domain controller. In this scenario, Setup will fail.
Component Requirement
.NET Framework2 .NET 3.5 SP1 is a requirement for SQL Server 2012 when you
select Database Engine, Reporting Services, Master Data
Services, Data Quality Services, Replication, or SQL Server
Management Studio, and it is no longer installed by SQL Server
Setup.
• If you run Setup on a computer with the Windows Server
2008 SP2 operating system, and you do not have .NET 3.5
SP1, SQL Server Setup requires you to download and
install.NET 3.5 SP1 before you can continue with the SQL
Server installation. The error message includes a link to the
download centre, or you can download .NET 3.5 SP1 from
Windows Update. To avoid interruption during SQL Server
Setup, you can download and install .NET 3.5 SP1 before you
run SQL Server Setup.
• If you run Setup on a computer with the Windows Server
2008 R2 SP1 operating system, you must enable .NET
Framework 3.5 SP1 before you install SQL Server 2012.
• If you run Setup on a computer with the Windows Server
2012 or Windows 8 operating system, the SQL Server Setup
automatically downloads and installs the .NET Framework 3.5
SP1. This process requires internet access.
If there is no internet access, it is required to download and
install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 before you run Setup to
install any of the above mentioned components. For more
information about the recommendations and guidance on
how to acquire and enable .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows
Server 2012 or Windows 8, see Microsoft .NET Framework
3.5 Deployment Considerations at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/hardware/
hh975396.
.NET 4.0 is a requirement for SQL Server 2012. SQL Server
installs .NET 4.0 during the feature installation step.
• If you are installing the SQL Server Express editions, ensure
that an Internet connection is available on the computer. SQL
Server Setup downloads and installs the .NET Framework 4
because it is not included in the SQL Server Express media.
• SQL Server Express does not install .NET 4.0 on the Server
Core mode of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows
Server 2012. You must install .NET 4.0 before you install SQL
Server Express on a Server Core installation of Windows
Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows Server 2012.
Component Requirement
Windows SQL Server 2012 does not install or enable Windows PowerShell
PowerShell 2.0; however Windows PowerShell 2.0 is an installation
prerequisite for Database Engine components and SQL Server
Management Studio. If Setup reports that Windows PowerShell
2.0 is not present, you can install or enable it by following the
instructions on the Windows Management Framework page at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968929.
Network Software Supported operating systems for SQL Server 2012 have built-in
network software. Named and default instances of a stand-alone
installation support the following network protocols: Shared
memory, Named Pipes, TCP/IP and VIA.
Note:
Component Requirement
Virtualization For more information about the Hyper-V role, see the Windows
Server 2008 Web site at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/
windowsserver//default.aspx.
Important:
Guest failover clustering is supported in SQL Server 2012.
For more information about the supported versions of SQL
Server and operating systems for guest failover clustering,
and the support for virtualization, see Support policy for
Microsoft SQL Server products running in a hardware virtual
environment at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=956893.
Note 1
Running SQL Server 2012 on a virtual machine will be slower than running natively because
of the overhead of virtualization.
Component Requirement
Memory1 Minimum:
• Express Editions: 512 MB
• All other editions: 1 GB
Recommended:
• Express Editions: 1 GB
• All other editions: At least 4 GB and should be increased as
database size increases to ensure optimal performance.
Processor Type • x64 Processor: AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon 64, Intel Xeon
with Intel EM64T support, Intel Pentium IV with EM64T
support
• x86 Processor: Pentium III-compatible processor or faster
Note 1
The minimum memory required for installing the Data Quality Server component in Data
Quality Services (DQS) is 2 GB of RAM, which is different from the SQL Server 2012
minimum memory requirement. For information about installing DQS, see Install Data
Quality Services at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/486e4216-a946-4c6e-828c-
61bc905f7ec1.
WOW64 Support
WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit) is a feature of 64-bit editions of Windows that
enables 32-bit applications to run natively in 32-bit mode. Applications function in 32-bit
mode, even though the underlying operating system is a 64-bit operating system.
• On a supported 64-bit operating system, SQL Server 32-bit edition can be installed to
the WOW64 32-bit subsystem of a 64-bit server. WOW64 is supported only for stand-
alone instances of SQL Server. WOW64 is not supported for SQL Server failover
cluster installations.
• For SQL Server 64-bit edition installations on supported 64-bit operating systems,
Management Tools are supported in WOW64. For more information about supported
operating systems, select an edition of SQL Server 2012 from the sections below.
Note: SQL Server editions that are supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit x64
Standard edition are also supported on Windows Small Business Server 64-bit x64.

Note 1
The disk space requirement for downloaded books online content is 200 MB.
Important
SMB storage can be hosted by a Windows File Server or a third party SMB storage device.
If Windows File Server is used, the Windows File Server version should be 2008 or later.
For more information about installing SQL Server using SMB file share as a storage option,
see Install SQL Server with SMB fileshare as a storage option http://msdn.microsoft.com/
en-us/library/8b7810b2-637e-46a3-9fe1-d055898ba639.
Caution
SQL Server failover cluster installation supports Local Disk only for installing the tempdb
files. Ensure that the path specified for the tempdb data and log files is valid on all the
cluster nodes. During failover, if the tempdb directories are not available on the failover
target node, the SQL Server resource will fail to come online.
B.1 Prerequisites
The AVEVA Instrumentation design database version of the Access database being
upgraded must be that required by the tool (the required version is in the message
displayed when the tool is run - see below). If it is an older version, it must be updated to the
newest one before running the tool.
Note: You must have SQL Server Administration rights so that AVEVA Instrumentation can
create the SQL database. You will also need to know the Server Name.
Note: Login information is not saved anywhere and is used once to connect to the Server
to create the database.
Note: Refer to Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server.
Enter the required login details for the selected project and click OK.
The tool will then check that the project is at the required AVEVA Instrumentation design
database version. If it is not, the following message is displayed:
As explained in the message, the database must be upgraded to the latest 12.0.SP5 version
by opening it in the latest version of AVEVA Instrumentation 12.0.SP5. The tool can then be
run again to upgrade the database. Click OK to close the tool.
If the database is at the required version, the SQL Server Login dialog is displayed:
This dialog is used to select the SQL Server that will be used to create the new SQL
database.
Enter a valid Server Name.
Login using Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication. This login must be a
valid SQL Server Administrator account login.
Test that the entered details are valid by clicking Test Connection.
Click OK if the test is successful. The following dialog is then displayed:
Enter the name of the new database and click OK. The database creation process is then
started.
The contents of the Access database is then migrated to the new SQL database (see
Migration Procedure for details). A dialog is then displayed showing the progress of this
process:
Messages are displayed indicating the project number of the new database when the
procedure is complete:
Messages detailing any errors that occur during the procedure are also displayed.
The procedure will stop if an error is encountered. Further details of errors are displayed in
the Error Messages tab. See Migration Procedure for more information on errors and how to
resolve them.
Click Exit. A message displaying the name of the new database is displayed:
