EXCHANGE INSTALLATION &SYSTEM FEATURES

Before installing STAR1 exchange, it is important to follow the following precautions, in order
to yield proper operation of your exchange.
SELECTION OF THE PLACE TO INSTALL THE EXCHANGE
The place chosen for the installation mush have the following conditions :
- The exchange must be installed to a place with no humidity, with no water leakage.
- The place must not be dirty, smoky.
- The place must not be near of the voltage generator, uninterrupted power supplies, high
voltage power lines.
- The exchange must not be installed above the radiator, or to the place where sun shines
directly.
- The exchange must be installed preferably 1.5 m above the ground with empty surrounding
to work easily.
- The installed place must be sufficiently lightened.
- The exchange must be installed in a place where not many people may reach to.
GROUNDING THE EXCHANGE
It is not necessary to have a good ground for the operation of STAR1 exchange. However to
protect the exchange against high voltages a good ground is a must.
The exchange plug is provided with ground connection. If the exchange is installed in a place
where there is no ground connection at all the exchange ground must be connected to a
radiator or to a water pipe with a thick cable. This is better than nothing for protection of the
system against high voltages.
DEFINITION OF A GOOD GROUND

To have a good ground one must measure less than 1.5V between the neutral line and the
ground line of the mains power cables.
To ground the exchange use a 5 mm² or thicker cable to connect the ground line to the
exchange.
Attention: If you connect the exchange ground to the phase of the mains power by
mistake you destroy the high voltage varistors of the exchange and give some harm to
your exchange and the Telecom lines .
INSTALLATION OF THE EXCHANGE
Installing the exchange :

Make two holes on the place where the exchange will be installed by using the

paper guide provided .Insert the fixings and screws and hang the exchange on the
wall. It is advisable to install the exchange about 1.5 meter above the ground.
Installation of the exchange cables :
Place a MDF box about 1 m near the exchange. Connect the cable between the exchange
and MDF in proper order. Similarly connect the telephone internal and external lines to the
other side of the MDF in order.
Connecting KTS300 Operator Console Set:
A five meter long ,two sides plugged cable is given with the KTS300 special key telephone
set (operator console set).One side of the cable is inserted to the socket on the exchange
and the other side to the telephone set.
Connecting the subscribers:

Considering the exchange problems occur %70 from the cabling, be sure to have proper
cabling. Before connecting the subscriber cables be sure no leakage of 220V AC exists on
the cables. Otherwise the exchange may be damaged.
Connecting 220V power line:

Connect 220V power wire of the exchange to the mains power socket. It is advisable not use
any extension power cable to power up the exchange.
Connecting batteries if exists:

The exchange uses 2 x 12V battery. Connect two batteries serial and connect +,- cables to
the exchange . Use 2mm² thick cables and be careful about the polarities. If it is wrong
connected the battery fuse is blown out.
Giving energy :
After you connect the power line of the exchange to the mains socket , press the power
switch located inside the cabinet . The exchange gets the power. 220v LED on the exchange
rectifier board becomes on and if the exchange properly working Active LED on the main
board stars blinking.

The STAR1 exchange has the following pcb board types:

The basic exchange has a main board and a rectifier board with a 220 VAC transformer. The
basic capacity of the exchange is 6 external and 16 internal terminals. The capacity of the
exchange may be increased by adding the subscriber or the external boards on top of each
other. The call attendant board is similarly inserted on to top of the other boards.

1.RECTIFIER BOARD(mpu0158)
220VAC transformer and the rectifier board generates the necessary voltages to the system.
It is connected to the main board of the exchange by a socket. The output voltages of the
rectifier board are;
75VAC (ring)
-24 VDC (line feeding)

+ 10 VDC (for consoles)
The STAR1 RECTIFIER BOARD shows the main diagram of the rectifier board.
220V TRANSFORMER SOCKET

It is the connection point to the feeding transformer.
RING BRIDGE
It connects the ring voltage to the system. If a battery module is connected the bridge
position must be changed.
COOLERS
They are the coolers of the voltage circuits.
BATTERY MODULE CONNECTOR

It is used to connect the battery module to the rectifier board.

It shows the main power exists.

It is the connection point to the main board of the system.
220 VAC FEEDING TRANSFORMER
It supplies the voltages to the rectifier board. The output voltages are 75 VAC,30 VAC and 10
VAC. The primary input of the transformer has a 1A/250V fuse for protection.

2.MAIN BOARD (mpu0161)
The main board of the system has all the necessary circuitry for microcontroler , RAM,FLASH
and the other circuits. The main board has also 16 internal subscriber and 6 external line
circuits. The figure shows the connection points of the main board.

It has 16 subscriber circuits and connection terminals. The exchange capacity may be up to
80 subscribers by adding the four subscriber boards to the system. The subscriber board is
manufactured as 8 or 16 subscribers.

The external board provides additional 6 external to the exchange. It has the 6 external line
circuits and their connection terminals. The board is manufactured as 3 or 6 external.

5. CALL ATTENDANT BOARD (mpu0162)
It answers the incoming calls coming to exchange by a greeting and allows to call the internal
lines. Therefore, it reduces the burden of the operators. The call attendant board is produced
as 4 or 8 call attendant channels.

6. BATTERY MODULE (mpu0170)
If the main power of the exchange (220VAC) is often broken down it is necessary to add the
Battery Module to the exchange to back up the system power. The battery module works with
two pieces of 12V maintenance free battery up to 12 Amper hours capacity. When the mains
power is off the battery module supplies the exchange energy and when the power is on the
battery module charges the batteries.
MT26,STAR2 and STAR1 use the some battery module circuit.2x12V battery is connected to
module with a pair of cable with minimum 2x0.75 mm2 thickness.
The module connection to the exchange is done by a cable with two sides plugged.
-It is recommended not to connect more than 12 Amper hour capacity batteries to the
system. The exchange may have trouble to charge the batteries.
-If the battery cables are connected wrong side the 3A fuse on the board is blown out.
-When the battery voltage becomes less than 18V the module separates the battery from the
exchange. So it prevents to dry out the batteries.
-Note that connection of any type of battery other than the maintenance free battery may
cause problem to the system.

STAR1 SYSTEM FEATURES
CAPACITY OF THE EXCHANGE

The capacity of STAR1 exchange as a standard starts from 6 external lines and 16 internal
lines. The external line capacity of the exchange may be increased to 9 or 12 externals .The
internal lines may be increased up to 80 by adding 8 or 16 internal lines board. The
maximum capacity of the exchange may be 9/64 and 6/80.
TYPE OF TERMINALS CONNECTED TO EXCHANGE

The terminals of the STAR1 exchanges may be DP or DTMF type of any standard telephone
or fax machine, modem, data terminal, telesecretary , cordless telephone and
announcement machine.
It is also possible to connect up to 20 pieces of MULTITEK KTS 300 special key telephone
set to the exchange.
PROGRAMMING THE SYSTEM PARAMETERS

The system parameter and subscriber class of services may be programmed locally only by
the system operator / terminal number 0. Customer data change ,programming the exchange
is also possible remotely through an external line by some one who knows the pass-word.
It is possible to lock the program by entering 7021xyzt* ( xyzt is a 1-4 digits password ) to
protect the system memory against unauthorised persons . By entering the same password
codes, the lock is opened.
POWER SUPPLY OF THE EXCHANGE

Exchange operates with 50/60 Hz and nominal main power of 220V –240 AC. If the mains
power is out of limits of 180 to 250V AC an external AC regulator must be used. STAR1
exchange needs maximum 40W for an average traffic.
MAINTENANCE FREE BATTERY CONNECTION

If the 220V mains power is brake - out very often it is advisable to connect 2x12V maximum
12 Amper / hour maintenance free battery to the exchange . The batteries may operate the
exchange a few hours ( in average 3-4 hours ) depending on the traffic load and the
capacity of the batteries.
When the power comes back the batteries are charged by the system.
CONNECTION OF THE BATTERY MODULE TO THE EXCHANGE

To connect the batteries to the exchange the system needs a circuit called ‘Battery Module’.
The battery module is placed in the upper left corner of the system cabinet and it is
connected to the exchange rectifier board with a 20cm long cable , two sides plugged.

The batteries are connected to the battery + - terminals on the battery module of the
exchange. The board has a 3A battery fuse. If the batteries are wrong connected the fuse is
blown - out.
The batteries feeds the exchange until the voltage drops to 18V. When the battery voltage
becomes less than 18 volts the battery is disconnected from the exchange automatically.
When the power comes back the batteries are charged by the system.
When the battery module is connected to the system RING BRIDGE position on the main
board should be changed otherwise the telephones do not ring.
CALL LOGGING - CONNECTION OF PRINTER/PC TO EXCHANGE

Any printer or PC with RS232C interface may be connected to the exchange for call logging.
All circuitry is ready on the exchange for this connection.
Serial printer or PC will be adjusted to ;
XON / XOFF 600 Baud 8 Data Bit No parity
(Please see the exchange –PC connection section for more details about the ET2000
PC call logging program )
Exchange and printer is connected by a pair of cable or three cables;
Exchange side PRa is connected to the printer connector pin 7

Exchange side PRb is connected to the printer connector pin 3
Exchange side DTR is connected to the printer connector pin 20.
Note : Exchange side DTR (Data Terminal Ready ) on the main board is connected to the
printer connector pin 20. This pin is used detect if the printer is connected and operating. If
the printer is not connected or its power is off the call logging data are stored in the
exchange memory and when the printer starts operating all stored data are transferred. If
DTR terminal is used it is necessary to enter the program 7447 964 .(To cancel enter 7447
965 )
The printer prints out external calls indicating calling, transferred internal lines, called number
date, start time and duration of the call pulse count and cost.

Each external line in the exchange has an optional charge detector of 12/16 KHZ.
If the charge pulses are received and if the unit fee of the charge pulse is entered the printer
prints out the pulse - count and cost of the call. If the charging signal is not received the
printer prints out all calls longer than 20 sec.
The exchange stores the charging data of last 70 calls. If it is required it is possible to print
the last 99 stored data to the printer by a program ( program 892 ).

PROTECTING SYSTEM MEMORY

In case of power failure to prevent losing the customer data entered to the system a 3V6
NiCd battery is used. Batteries lasts a few days under normal conditions and it is re-
chargeable.
TRANSFER OF EXTERNAL LINES TO INTERNAL TERMINALS IN CASE OF

POWER FAILURE :
When the mains power is brake out and there is no available battery the external numbers 1
and2 of STAR1 are connected directly to internal numbers 0 and 101.
MUSIC ON HOLD
When the external lines are on - hold the exchange gives music to the waiting side. STAR1
exchange has two types of music.
a) Standard built - in music in the circuit.

b) External music connection.
It is possible to connect radio / CD music to the exchange by a pair of wire on the system
MDF. If the music is not needed at all, or the external music connection is required the
internal built - in music is made off by programming ( program 7447 962 / 963 ).
Note: The external music is connected to the exchange at TEYP a and b terminals.
SPECIAL RELAY(DOOR OPENER)

The exchange has a special relay in order to activate some special functions such as door
opener. Two contact points of the relay is carried to system terminals. This feature, for
example, may be used to activate door opener. Dialling 71 closes the contacts of the special
relay about 1 seconds.
( Holding time is programmable as 1 or 2 sec by program code 957 / 858 ).
The connection point for the special relay is provided on the main board OZR a and b
terminals.
DP OR DTMF EXTERNAL LINES

If the external line of the exchange is DP the exchange will convert internally dialed DTMF
digits into DP digits. Therefore, it is possible to connect DP or DTMF external lines to the
exchange.

INTERNAL NUMBERING OF THE EXCHANGE
The subscribers on the exchange are numbered as 0, 101, 102 to 179 for STAR1.
GENERAL NIGHT SERVICE

The exchange may be put into the night service by entering program 7447 961 (or 7446).
When the exchange is in the night service;
- All subscriber are restricted to make out going call ( other than the subscribers allowed by
the program ).
- Incoming calls may ring up to four subscribers at the same time (subscribers defined by the
program 97. Default number 0 ).
Subscribers who do not have night service restriction will have the same authorization as
day. If he is fully restricted for day he will have the city call authorization for night. The
subscriber allowed to have night calls are programmed by the program 83 aaa 0.
HOOK - FLASH TIME

Hook - flash is an operation by pressing the hook - switch of the telephone for about 1 / 2 sec
for making transfer of the call or consultation hold. Some type of telephones have FLASH
button for the same purposes. The hook - flash time of the each subscribers is
programmable 80 ms or 600 ms by program codes 83aa4/5. Note that as a default
parameter the hook -flash time of the subscribers is set to 80 msec assuming * buttons of
DTMF telephones used for the transfer operation.
WARNING : If you connect DP telephones or telephones with long duration flash button it
is advisable to set the flash time 600 ms. Otherwise all conversations will be cut off during the
transfer.
FUNCTIONS OF * AND # BUTTONS ON DTMF TELEPHONES
* and # buttons of DTMF telephones has following functions;
* button:
A) Pressing * makes on hold the conversation as hook - flash. ( It may be used as hook -
flash function ).
B) Pressing * seizes the 1.th external line after the dial tone.
# button:
A) Pressing # functions as hook - on and then hook off the telephone ( to receive the dial
tone without playing the hook of the phone ).
B) Pressing # after the dial tone seizes 2.th external line.
C) # is also used to send hook-flash to the external line where an upper exchange terminal is
needed to be on hold and transfer.

not answered routed to the forwarded subscriber.(e.g. 742 15 directs the calls to the
number 15 if it is not answered in 4 seconds.)

- Dial 73 and seize the external line ( by dialling 9 or other access codes ).
- Dial the external number , make a conversation.
- Dial * ( or hook - flash ) and start to conference. If the second external is busy or not
reachable, hook - on your phone. The call waiting on you will be back. When you hook - on
the conference ends.
ANSWERING - INCOMING EXTERNAL CALLS

An external incoming call ring rings the operator telephone. You may answer this call from
your telephone set by;
- Hook - off your telephone.

- Dial 6.
- The call will be connected to you.
When you are making an external line conversation, if another call comes to your phone you
hear bip sounds on your earphone. To answer the second call you have to park the current
line and seize the other.(See the answering second call sections.)
CONSULTATION HOLD
When you are talking to an internal or external subscriber if you need to talk to another
internal subscriber;
- Dial * ( or make hook - flash ) and receive dial on hold tone.

- Dial the internal number and talk.
- * ( or hook - flash ) to return back your conversation.
CALL TRANSFERS (INTERNAL or EXTERNAL)

If you need to transfer a call to another internal subscriber when you are already talking;
- Dial * ( or make hook - flash ) and listen dial on hold tone.

- Dial the internal subscriber number.
- Talk to the subscriber and hook on.

Some notes for call transfer ;
- If the called number does not answer or if you want return back to the pervious call you
press * ( or hook - flash ).
- If the called number is busy ,if you hook - on your phone the call is parked on the busy
subscriber .The busy subscriber hears bip tone on his ear. When the phone become free it is
ringed.
- If the transferred external call is not answered in 1 minute the call is routed to the operator.
- If you make any mistake during the transfer operation or you hook - on, the call returns back
to you.
PARKING EXTERNAL LINES FREE ON HOLD

When you need to free your phone during a conversation you may park it .
- Dial * or ( hook - flash ) and hear dial tone on hold.

- Dial 55.
- Listen the dial tone.
The external line becomes parked for the duration of 1 minutes. If it is not seized back in one
minute, it returns back to you automatically. You may park as many external as you need.
SEIZING BACK PARKED EXTERNAL LINES

If you need to seize back a parked external line ;
- Hook - off the phone and receive the dial tone.
- Dial 56.
- You seize the first parked external line.
If you need to seize back a specific parked external line dial the external selection number
( e.g. 531 for the first external ).
If the parked external line is not seized back in one minute, it returns back to the subscriber.
ANSWERING A SECOND CALL DURING A CONVERSATION

When you are making an external conversation if a second call comes you hear bip tones. If
you want to answer;
- Park the call by dialling * ( or hook - flash ) and 55.

- And then dial 6. Or hook - on your phone it starts ring.
PARKING AN EXTERNAL CALL ON BUSY SUBSCRIBER

If the subscriber that the external call will be transferred is busy;
- After hearing the busy tone.

The subscriber that the call is parked on hears the bip tone. When he hooks on the telephone
rings and talks. If the call parked is not serviced in one minute it is routed to the operator.
CALL PICKUP
To answer a call ringing a telephone,
- Dial 72, and than the ringing subscriber number. if you are in a call group
( PBX ) to answer any ringing subscriber in the group you just dial 80.
For example, if 11 is ringing dial 72 11 to seize the call.
SPEED CALL FROM THE COMMON MEMORY

- Dial 86 and then, the common memory number 10 to 99.
- Wait for the exchange to call the number.
ENTERING NUMBER TO THE PRIVATE MEMORY FOR SPEED DIALING

- Dial 78, and then, the memory number 01-08.

- Make * ( or hook - flash ) to finalize the number being entered. You hear dial tone as
acceptance tone and continue to enter the other codes.
e.g. : Entering 4177971 into the memory number 02, you dial 780214177971*.
SPEED CALL FROM THE PRIVATE MEMORY

- Dial 86 and then , the private memory number 01-08.
- Wait for the exchange to call the number.
INTRUSION
If the called line is busy and if you want to make intrusion;
- After hearing the busy tone, dial 49. If your level of intrusion is higher than the called line
level you entered to the conversation of the called subscriber. The sides hear bip tones
(optional) . If your intrusion level is lower than the busy subscriber you hear congestion tone.
-You become out of conversation when you hook - on. The exchange allows three levels of
intrusion;
Fully restricted, half restricted, unrestricted. Same level authorized subscribers may not
intrude their conversations.

If the called subscriber is busy and you want to warn him;

- After hearing the busy tone dial 1. The busy subscriber hears bip tone on his earphone .
- When the called subscriber hooks-on his phone rings and you talk.
AUTOMATIC CALLING
- All subscribers of the exchange have the feature of the automatic calling. Automatic calling
is an useful feature when the called external number is busy or if you want the exchange to
call an external number automatically.
- If there are more than one automatic call request at a time the exchange puts them in
queue and serves in order.
- The exchange calls the numbers in maximum 15 times. When the called side rings it makes
the connection. If the called terminal is not reached in 15 times the request cancelled.
- When the call is established but the originating terminal is busy you hear a bip tone in your
earphone. You have to hook - on the phone immediately and answer the call.
A) AUTOMATIC CALL FOR A BUSY EXTERNAL SUBSCRIBER
- When you hear busy or congestion tone during an external call ,the first dial * (or hook -
flash) and then 77.
- Hear the acceptance tone (ring back) and hook on the phone.
- The exchange finds the external number for you and makes the connection.
B) AUTOMATIC CALL FROM THE SPEED DIALING MEMORY
- Hook - off the phone and receive the dial tone.

- Dial 79 and the memory number 01 -99.
- Hear acceptance tone and hook - on.
- The exchange calls the external number stored in the memory and makes the connection.
C) CANCELLING THE AUTOMATIC CALL
If the automatic call requested is to be cancelled;

- After receiving the dial tone, dial 77.
- Hear the acceptance tone and hook - on.
MAKING QUEUE ON BUSY TERMINAL( FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL

LINES )
If the called subscriber or the external line / external line group is busy it is possible to be in a
queue to seize the terminal when they become free.
- When you receive the busy tone, dial 48 and hear the acceptance tone.

SERIAL CALL – TRANSFERING AN EXTERNAL CALL IN SEQUENCE

If you want an external call you transferred to come back to you;
- After hold on the external line, dial 741 than the internal line number ad hook - on.
- When the subscriber that the call is transferred hooks - on the external line comes back to
you by ringing your phone.
- You may make as many serial call transfer as you wish.
WARNING / WAKE - UP SERVICE

If you want the exchange to warn you in a specified time;

- Dial 84 and enter the time as hour and minute and hear the acceptance tone.
e.g. : Enter 840905 to be warned at 905.
Cancelling the warning service ;

- Dial 85 and hear acceptance tone.
LOCKING YOUR PHONE FOR UNAUTHORISED USERS ( ENTERING

PASSWORD )
Some times it is required to lock the phone to prevent being used by an unauthorized person
for making external calls. When a telephone is locked the internal calls are allowed.
A) Entering the pass - word for locking your phone;

- Dial 745 and than the three digit ( 000-999 ) password and hear the acceptance tone.

- When someone dials the external access code the exchange gives a bip tone, requiring the
password. When the three digit correct password is entered the external line is seized and
Telecom dial tone is heard.
B) Unlocking your phone

- Enter 745 and your three digits password.
DON’T DISTURB
If you do not want to be disturbed by your ringing telephone;

- Dial 746, hear the acceptance tone and hook - on.
When someone calls you your telephone rings once and stops. You may answer the phone
any time as long as the calling party keeps ringing.
To cancel the don’t disturb feature;

- Dial 748, hear the acceptance tone and hook - on.
DOOR OPENER
If you want to open the door by your phone, dial 71 and hook – on the telephone. A special
relay in the exchange operates for 1 second ( or 2 sec by programming ).
(Be sure to connect your door opener to OZR a - b terminals of the exchange).
It is possible to restrict some subscribers to open the door.
(By program 82aa4 / 5).
CONNECTING TWO EXTERNAL LINES TOGETHER
If it is needed to connect two external lines together for a conversation;
- Establish a call with one external.

- Make hook - flash (or * ) and receive the dial-on hold tone.
- Dial 73.
- Seize another external and make a conversation. If the number you called is busy or not
reachable hook - on. The call waiting returns back to you.
- Make hook - flash (or * ) . Two external lines and you become in conversation.
- One more time make hook - flash (or * ) . You become out of conversation and two
externals are connected. Two connected externals may talk for 3 minutes. Before the time
expire of 3 minutes the sides hear a waning bip tone. If any party dials 9 by his MF telephone
the conversation prolongs one more 3 minutes.

HOT LINE SUBSCRIBER

It is possible to program a subscriber telephone so that when he hooks - off the telephone
the operator telephone starts ringing or an external number is called automatically.
A) Hot line to operator telephone

When the subscriber hooks - off, the operator telephone rings automatically and two sides
talks. This feature may be used for hotel / motel subscribers where no internal / external call
is not allowed (see the programming 80aa0 code in the programming section).
B) Hot line to an external line

(the subscriber receives the dial tone of the external)
When the subscriber hooks – off his telephone the exchange automatically seizes an
external line. Then the subscriber dials the number and makes a conversation ( see
programming code 80aa7 ).
C) Hot line to an external number
When the subscriber hooks – off his telephone the exchange starts dial automatically the
external number defined in the exchange speed dial memory 99.
For this feature the subscriber must be defined as hot line (see the programming code
80 aa 7) and the external number must be entered into the common memory 99.
SENDING ELECTRONIC MESSAGES TO KTS300 TELEPHONES

It is possible to send some pre-defined messages to the operator or other terminals that have
KTS300 type telephone set.
The following codes may be entered to send messages to the calling side with KTS300
telephones.

AUTHORISATION TRANSFER
(Making calls from a telephone as your telephone authorization)
It is possible to use any internal telephone of the exchange as your telephone with the same
authorization. For example, if the telephone where you are has no access to the external
lines you may change its authorization to your telephone level. When the telephone is
hooked-off the authorization level of the telephone returns to the old values.
To use that feature:

-Enter a personal password to your telephone by using the code 745xyz (where
xyz is your pass word).Your password for carrying authorization becomes
xyz.
Note that if you do not want to use the locking feature of your telephone
you have to re-enter 745 xyz to cancel the locking feature.
If you want to change your password you have to follow the similar steps.
-If you hook off a telephone in a place where you are ,enter 7443 code and then
your password .The authorization level of that telephone becomes as yours.
You may make calls up to your authorization level of your internal line. To make the serial
calls you have to re-fresh the dial tone by # button.
-All cost of the calls you made is invoiced to your telephone.
(The detailed call logging information shows the call as “your internal number Y the internal
number that you talked).

- Enter the external number.
- Enter * (or hook - flash ) .
- You receive the dial tone as the acceptance tone. You may enter the others numbers in
sequence .
Example: If you want to enter 4203838 to memory 25, dial 78 25 1 4203838*.
NIGHT SERVICE OF THE EXCHANGE

If it is required to restrict all or many internal numbers to make external calls do the following
programs:
- Dial 7446
Exchange becomes in night service restricting all out going calls.
- If there are some internal numbers allowed making outgoing calls during the night service,
define them with the program code 7447 and the code 83aa 0.
- Define the internal subscribers who will answer the incoming calls during the night service.
( By program 7447 and code 97aabb….. Maximum 4 subscribers may be defined to be
ringed at the same time when there is an incoming call.)
Therefore when the exchange is in night service;
- Only subscribers allowed may make external outgoing calls. They will have the same class
of service as day. If they are restricted for day they are allowed to make only city calls in the
night service.
- Incoming calls ring the subscribers defined by the program. Maximum four internal terminals
may be ringed at the same time. One answers the call when he hooks off.
The night service is cancelled by entering 7448 from the operator telephone.
PBX FEATURE
When your telephone is busy or you are absent if you want to re-route the call to another
subscriber you have to use PBX feature of the exchange. PBX feature is activated by the
programming codes 860 or 862. It is possible to make a PBX group for the internal or
external calls by the program 860 or a PBX group for only external calls by the program 862.
Maximum 10 subscribers may be in a PBX group and it is allowed to make 9 different PBX
groups.

KEY SYSTEM FEATURE

A few subscribers in the exchange may be put in a group so that they may act like a small
exchange in the exchange. Each subscriber in the group may call each other directly but the
calls coming out side of the group is routed to the assigned secretary telephone.
- Make a group of subscribers that will be in the key system by programming and code
861..... (see the programming section code 861 )
- All subscribers except the secretary telephone make follow me to the secretary telephone
( dial 740 and secretary number ).
When you make a key system group;
- All subscribers in the group may call the others directly.

- All coming calls to the subscribers in the group will be routed to the secretary number.
Cancelling the feature;
- Cancel all follow me features.

- Cancel key system group feature by not entering any subscriber number
( e.g. to cancel the first key system group enter 74478611* ).
ASSIGNMENT OF DIRECT LINE

It is possible to assign one or more external lines to be used by only some internal terminals.
It is also possible to direct incoming calls of those externals to be answered by those
subscribers.
Using these features in the exchange it is possible to make an external line connected to the
exchange as the subscribers private line.
- By program code 94 assign one (or more) external to make a group of externals.
- By program code 85 define the subscriber which group he uses.
- By program code 92 redirect the incoming calls coming from the external to his phone.
INTERNAL LINES WITHOUT DIAL TONE

Some of the internal lines ( such as operator using head-set ) do not need the dial tone. Use
program 82 aaa 2/3 to remove the dial tone ( or to give back ). When the subscriber without
dial tone is called, automatically answers the call if it is in free position.
RESTRICTION ON EXTERNAL CONVERSATION DURATION

It is possible to restrict the duration of the external conversation time to some subscribers.
Use program code 99 to restrict the duration of the external call to 2,3,5 minutes or limitless.
The restriction applies to both incoming and outgoing calls.

EXTERNAL LINE OPEN TO ONLY INCOMING CALLS

It is possible to program the external lines to be used for only incoming calls but not for
outgoing calls. Use program code 846 to make the externals out of service.
If the external is out of service it is not possible to make an outgoing call but the incoming
calls may be answered.
ENTERING THE CLASS OF SERVICES OF THE SUBSCRIBER

The operator by entering the program code 80 may program following class of services for
the subscribers.
- Operator hot line subscriber.

(Only callable and he may call only the operator)
- May call only internal numbers.
- May call only city numbers.
- May call only area code numbers.
- May call only international numbers.
- May call only numbers defined in common memory.
- May call only numbers defined in common memory and city numbers.
- May call only city numbers and the numbers starting with 021(special for some applications)
- External hot line subscriber. (When the subscriber hooks off he is connected to the external
line automatically or it is connected to the external number defined in memory 99).
-May call only the numbers defined in memory 90 - 99.
(Guard feature for the factories)
-May call only numbers defined in common memory and the numbers starting with 021
(special for some applications)
ENTERING THE INTRUSION CLASS OF SERVICE

By programming code 81 the following intrusion class of services may be given to the
subscribers;
- Not allowed to make intrusion.

- Semi - allowed making intrusion.
- Fully authorized to make intrusion.
Note that the high level intrusion subscribers may enter the conversation of the lower level
intrusion subscribers. Same level subscribers may not intrude their calls.
MAKING EXTERNALS LINES OUT OF SERVICE

If the exchange has unused external lines it is necessary to make those externals out of
service. Note that initially all externals are open to the service.
The externals may be put out of service by entering the program code 846 e 1.

MAKING GROUP OF EXTERNALS AND RESTRICTING SUBSCRIBERS

It is possible to make some group of externals so that some subscribers may only use those
externals lines allowed.
The group of externals are defined by the program code 94. The exchange allows making six
different groups of externals.
The external groups may be assigned to the subscribers by the program code 85.
Note that it is possible to allow a subscriber to use more than one external group.
ROUTING AN EXTERNAL CALL TO A SUBSCRIBER
The exchange allows the calls coming from an external line to be routed to any internal line. It
is possible to route each external coming call one by one to the different subscribers.
Program code 92 is used for routing the external calls to the subscribers. Initially all calls are
directed to the operator number 0.
CLEARING THE FOLLOW - ME SUBSCRIBERS

By entering program code 954 you may clear all follow – me and follow - me if absent
subscribers .
ENTERING DATE AND TIME

By programming code 87,88 you may enter the date and time of the exchange. E.g. to enter
April 05,2005 the operator dials 7447 87 05 04 05 e.g. to enter 18 09 the operator dials 7447
88 18 09.
MAKING EXTERNAL LINES DP or DTMF

By programming code 93 the operator may program the external lines DTMF or DP.
Note if you make the external DTMF both DTMF and DP telephones work. If the external
is DP type the DTMF digits received is transferred as DP digits to the network.
ENTERING UNIT CHARGE FEE

It is important to enter the unit charge fee in places where the call charge is calculated and
12/16 KHZ charging pulses are counted.
If 12 KHZ / 16 KHZ charging signal does not come the exchange can not print the charge
pulse count and the cost unless the charge fiction feature is applied.
Unit change fee is entered by the program code 98 as maximum 6 digits.
e.g. if the call costs 10 cents per charge pulse enter 7447 98 000010 as a charge fee.
PROGRAMMING HOOK - FLASH TIME
It is possible to program the hook - flash duration of the each terminal one by one by program
code 83. The hook - flash time may be programmed as 80,150,250, 600,800

or 1000 milisecond .
WARNING : 80 msecond hook - flash time is the default value of the exchange. If the
exchange has the DP telephone sets or the telephones with flash button, it is advisable to
make 600 ms hook - flash time for those telephones.
CLEARING THE PASSWORD

It very often happens that the subscribers entering the password forget their pass words. You
may clear all pass words by the program code 955.
PRINTING CALL CHARGE INFORMATION

If the exchange has a printer or PC it is possible to print various types of data related with
the externals calls. Those are;
Program code 890 Prints the last 10 calls details.
Program code 891 Feeds the paper.
Program code 892 Prints the last 70 calls.
Program code 893 Prints the total charge count of the externals.
Program code 894 Prints all external calls longer than 20 sec.
Program code 895 Prints only external calls where 12/16 KHz signal comes.
Program code 896 Prints only international calls.
Program code 897 Prints only area + international calls.
Program code 898 Prints messages in condensed mode (no space between messages).
Program code 899 Prints messages leaving some free space .
Program code 81aaa 3 Subscriber whose calls is printed ( DEFAULT ).

Program code 82aaa 4 Subscriber whose calls is not printed .
Program 964 or 965 DTR is used by Printer or PC .

(If DTR is used all information is sent to the terminal immediately.
Otherwise it means the terminal is not ready or power is off .So the
data is saved .When available all data is dumped.)
SENDING HOOK - FLASH TO AN UPPER EXCHANGE

If the exchange externals are connected to some internals of another PBX it is very often
necessary to send hook - flash to the other exchange to make hold the call by the other
exchange side.
This feature is possible by entering program code 956. When the program is entered #
button of the DTMF telephones is used for sending 200m sec flash to the externals. For
cancelling, use again same code 956.
TELEPHONES USING *,#,A,B,C,D BUTTONS

Some times where Telecom uses *, # , A,B,C,D buttons of the telephones for activating some
Telecom features it is necessary to program the internal terminals not to allow using

*,#,A,B,C,D buttons for the exchange features. ( see programming code 83aaa2/3 ). Initially
all internal numbers are allowed to use *, # , A,B,C,D buttons.
TURNING OFF THE BUILD IN INTEGRATED MUSIC

Where no hold on music is needed or an external music is connected it is necessary to
turn off the exchange built in music. Use programmed 962/963 for making on/off the internal
music.
RESTRICTION ON EXTERNALLY DIALED NUMBERS

Some times it is necessary to restrict some subscribers to make calls to some numbers.
( e.g. number 150 may not be allowed to call the external numbers staring with code 271 ).
It is possible to enter to the exchange 20 restriction code each having maximum 4 digits.
Those restriction codes are defined in the exchange as;

Each 5 codes in order makes a restriction code group.

The restriction is applied by the operator as followings;

* ( or hook - flash ) : if the code less than 4 digits it is the terminator.
Note that the programming code 7447 is not needed for entering the codes .
( If 75 ss* is entered the previously entered code is erased ).
B) By programming code 85 define the restriction code group to the subscribers. See the
programming section for the code restriction table.

DISA (Direct Inward Station Access)

It is possible to program some of the external lines of the exchange so that the externals may
answer automatically to the incoming calls by giving a special dial tone and wait for the digits
to be dial by the calling subscriber DTMF telephone and make connection to the internal
subscribers without the help of the operator.
Use program code 93 to define the DISA featured externals.
If an external line has a DISA feature it is also possible to place voice operator (call
attendant) module to the exchange. In that case when the call comes the voice operator
answers the call, gives information and the caller dials the internal number or waits for the
operator.
When DISA feature is activated;
- If there is an incoming call the exchange answers it automatically by giving a special dial
tone or message.
- It receives the dial digits from the calling subscriber and rings the internal terminal
telephone.
- If the digits are not dial or if the dial digits are wrong the call is routed to the operator.
- Using that future it is possible to access directly to the internal lines without help of the
operator ( see the call attendant module features ).
CHANGING THE EXTERNAL ACCESS CODE ( 0 TO 9 )

Some times the customer requires changing the external selection code 9
(default) to 0. Use program code 968/969 for changing the access code 9 to 0.
Note that when change happens the operator number becomes 9.
PROGRAMMING THE DOORPHONE SUBSCRIBER
It is possible to connect as many as required door phone device to the system. The door
phones are called for talking with their terminal numbers. The door phones are the special
design devices as the followings;
a-) DYF02 (Door phone with a call button)

It is used for only talking and calling an internal number from the door.

b-) DYF04 (Door phone with a camera and a call button)

It is used for talking and calling an internal number from the door.
It is also possible to see the place where the door phone is connected. The video
telephone called TS702T must be connected to the exchange.
Any internal terminal (s) is defined as door phone terminal by program 82 aa 6/7.
It is also possible to define the internal number that will ring when the call button on the door
phone is pressed by the program 82 aaa 8.
CHANGING THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RING CADENCE
The ring durations of the internal and external rings may be changed vice versa. The
program 953 is used for that purpose.
CHANGING THE FUNCTIONS OF * AND # BUTTONS ON THE PHONE
As a default * button may be used to hold on the conversation and # button is used to refresh
the dial tone. Program 966 and 967 changes the functions of * and # vice versa.
SUBSCRIBER LISTENING MUSIC
If the subscriber has the hand free telephone and if a radio/CD player is connected to the
exchange for the hold on music it is possible to program the subscriber to listen music when
he is free. For that feature;
-Subscriber hooks of the telephone and receives the dial tone. If he does not
dial any number in 6 seconds the subscriber is connected to the music source
of the exchange.
-To call a number he must hook off the telephone.
-When there is a call to him the music stops and he hears the ringing
tone. When he hooks on and off the telephone he answers the call.
Programming code 81 aa 5/6 makes the music subscriber.
SPECIAL RELAY (DOOR OPENER) OPERATING TIME

Programming code 957/958 makes the special relay operating time as 1 or 2 seconds.
SUBSCRIBER USING SPECIAL RELAY (DOOR OPENER )

Not all subscribers may operate the special relay (door opener).The subscribers who
may not use the special relay is programmed by 82 aa 4/5 .As a default all subscribers
may use the special relay.
RESET THE EXCHANGE NOT DESTROYING THE CUSTOMER DATA

PREVIOUSLY ENTERED
Programming code 952 resets the exchange not destroying previously entered data.

RESET THE EXCHANGE BY CLEARING BY ALL DATA ENTERED (AS OUT

OF FACTORY)
Programming code 959 resets the exchange clearing all data entered, making the exchange
as out of factory. Note that this program does not destroy the previously entered speed
dialling memories ,time and date and restriction table.
AN EXTERNAL CALL RINGS MANY SUBSCRIBERS
It is possible to program the exchange so that an external calls may ring up to 4 subscribers
at the same time. The ringing subscribers is defined by the program 97 as the night service
subscribers. The program for ringing the subscribers for an external call is 851078/851079.
As a default an external call may ring the operator.
SELECTING EXTERNALS AS DAISY CHAIN OR FROM THE BEGINNING
It is possible to select the externals in a group in the following forms:

-Daisy chain (default): The first free external is selected after the last used one.
-The first external is always selected.
The program is 851080 / 851081.
AUTOMATIC TESTING OF EXTERNALS IN SERVICE
The exchange may test the externals automatically to detect if some of them are broken. The
test may be performed when it is required or periodically at hours 07 00 and 19 00. See the
programs 851082 , 851083 and 851084.
FICTIVE CHARGING
If the externals of the exchange do not have the 12/16 KHz charging signal the exchange
may perform fictive charging for each call. (It is also possible to make fictive charging for
some externals while the others use 12/16 KHz charging pulse.)
-Program 93h 4/5 programs externals for fictive charging.
-Program 88 3-5 xxx enters the charging duration for local, area and International
calls.

LCR (Least Cost Routing) FEATURE

If the number of the operators in a telephone network is more than one because of the
competition the route call price may vary from one operator to another.
To make calls from the cheapest route is named LCR “Least Cost Routing ”.For example ;
calls from GSM to GSM is cheaper than a call from fix line to GSM. The telephone exchange
analysis the digits and according to the defined route tables ,it finds the cheapest way to
make a call.

digits that will be analysed (up to 4) and end it with * (star) key.
Example: If numbers starting with 056 is needed to direct a new route 9, enter
7447 9513 23 9 056*

or for example 055 is not any more needed enter the following :

When you create a new LCR table please be careful about the followings;
- The digit analysis may be maximum four digits as 0049

- Route is found with the defined minimum digits.
For example :If 0049 is defined for the route 6, and 004 for the route 7, the route 7 is
always selected whether 004 or 0049 is dialled.
- Please be careful to define all numbers possible to dial when you create the new LCR
routes.
- After you enter the route table , define the routes that each external may use by the

5. LCR Features for Long Distance Operators

(Long Distance Operator Dialler Feature)
Some countries has more than one operator for making area and international calls. Those
are called Long Distance Operators.
The Long Distance Operators is usually accessed by special access number such as 08xx
xxxxxxx . The long distance call is charged by the operator either prepaid or post paid
method . For this reason ,the customer must enter a PIN code before dialling the number.
As explained above to make a call through the Long Distance Operator network the customer
must dial around 30 digits. This is very disturbing and prone to make mistakes. The
exchange together with the LCR feature may dial the operator access number and then the
PIN number automatically and the user makes his call as making standard calls.
5.1 Entering the Access and PIN Number to The Exchange :

It is possible to enter the operator access and customer PIN number to the exchange.
5.1.1 Entering PIN number:

Entering PIN number is the same as entering speed call numbers to the special memory of

e.g. If you select route 6 dial 7805.

- Enter * or flash. You hear the dial tone.
Note1:You may enter also # for the PIN number.

5.3 Example Application for A Long Distance Operator:

Let us assume a company makes the international calls through a Long Distance Operators.
Access code of the operator is 0811 1234567 , PIN code of the customer is 9876543210 .

When the number starting with 00 (international call) is dialled the exchange first dials the
access number of the operator and then the PIN number and then the dialled number. The
user ,off course ,will not be aware of those actions. He only keeps dialling his number.

Some long distance operators require # tone to recognise the end of the digit string to speed
up the connection. So the exchange may add # to the end of the dialled digit string.

5.5 LCR Hot Line Subscriber

Some internal lines may call only the externals so they don’t have to dial 9 access code. This
feature is important if the exchange will be used as multi line dialler.
For that case, enter the following program;

VOICE ATTENDANT
( ROBOT OPERATOR ) FEATURES
STAR1 exchange has a voice attendant (robot operator) board. Voice attendant module
answers the incoming calls, reads the recorded message and gives appropriate voice
messages to the calling side about the internal number that the calling party wishes to talk.
When the voice attendant answers the calling party may dial the internal number directly,
without the help of operator.
NECESSARY EQUIPMENT
The exchange has a voice attendant board which may be placed in the sockets at the top of
the boards. The voice attendant board may be four or eight channels. The four channel voice
attendant is ready to use as default .If eight channel board is used the channels must be
given to the service by the program 85 100 6x where x is the channel number.
ACTIVATING/DEACTIVATING THE VOICE ATTENDANT
The program 7447 918 activate the voice attendant feature.

The externals that will be answered by the voice attendant is programmed by 7447 93 ee 3
as a DISA line one by one. ( ee shows the external number 01-12 .)
The program 7447 919 deactivates the voice attendant feature by clearing all DISA lines.
( So to re-activate don’t forget to program 7447 918 and 7447 93 ee 3 ).

The externals without DISA feature is routed directly to the operator .
ANSWERING THE CALLS BY THE VOICE ATTENDANT
The calls may be answered by the voice attendant if the call came from the external with the
DISA feature. DISA feature for an external line is entered by the program 93 ee 3 where ee
corresponds to the external number. To cancel it one must enter 93 ee 2 .
The call from an external without DISA feature is routed to the operator.
SOME PRECAUTION DURING RECORDING MESSAGES
- Message must be recorded in a quite place before the exchange is given to the service.
- After entering the message code, 4 second dial tone is given for the preparation. You start
reading the message immediately after the tone stops.
- The message must be terminated before the maximum duration reached. The message is
terminated by hooking on the cradle of the phone by hand ( otherwise the noise is also
recorded).
- If the message you read is longer than the maximum duration you hear the congestion
tone. You must re-record.
- If you want to leave silence time at the end of the message you just wait and hook-on the
phone.

When the exchange in the night service the voice attendant may serve the calls.

7447 8510075 (default) The first ten subscribers is called with the directory number.
MAKING VOICE CHANNEL OUT OF SERVICE
It is possible to make voice channel out of service for maintenance purposes or in case
failure of some channels for STAR1. To make the voice channels out of service
7447 100 5 x Voice channels out of service ( x is channel number 1 to 8 )

7447 100 6 x Voice channels in service ( x is the channel number 1 to 8 )
HEAVY TRAFFIC CASE
If the voice attendant can not serve to all incoming calls because of the heavy
traffic the calls are routed to the operator telephone.

It may be needed to restrict some internal terminals not to be called by the outside calls ;

DOORPHONE AND VIDEODOORPHONE CONNECTION
DYF02 DOORPHONE
DYF04 AND TS702T VIDEODOORPHONE
It is possible to connected as many as required number of door phone to the exchange. The
door phones are connected to the exchange as the telephone with two wire .The door phone
terminals are programmed with 82 aaa 7/6 codes. The door phone is called by its terminal
number.
The calls can not be transferred to the door phones. But it is possible to call door phones
from outside with DISA or Voice Attendant feature. In that case, the call duration is limited to
3 minutes.
The door phones that may be connected to the exchange are following types:
DYF02 Door phone with call button

DYF04 Door phone with call button an camera.
Those door phones need a 12 VDC adaptor to power up the device.(Don’t forget to connect
grounds of the exchange and the adaptor together.)
DYF02 and DYF04 door phones have call buttons so when it is pressed a defined internal
line rings. The internal line that will ring is defined by the program 82 aaa 8 (aaa is the
terminal).
When the call button is pressed the internal line rings and when answered it talks.
DYF04 door phone has also a built in camera so a videophone called TS702T may be
connected to the exchange to see the place where the door phone is located.
TS702T Videophone
TS702T videophone is an ordinary telephone with a 4 inches CRT tube. It is powered by 220
VAC. The telephone a-b wires is connected to the exchange ,and a pair cable is connected to
the DYF04 door phone camera inputs to receive the video signal. So, when the door phone
calls or if the monitor button on TS702T is pressed the monitor is turned on and the screen
shows the place of the camera.
If the distance between the TS702T and camera is more than 20 meters a RG59 type coaxial
cable must be used for connecting two devices.

MPR648 MINI PRINTER
Mini printer is a serial printer to down load the call information to the exchange. It works
with 220VAC power and it is connected to the exchange with two cables.
EXCHANGE PRINTER CONNECTION
Exchange side P - Printer side lower connection point.

Exchange side R - Printer side upper connection point.
( Note : Polarity of wires is important. If it is wrong connected, the printer does not work ).
Connect the mains power to the printer. If the connection is correct printer starts working.
Enter the related programs to the exchange for printing various type of call data.
SELF - TESTING THE PRINTER:

- Disconnect the mains power.
- Make short the bridge inside of the printer.
- Connect mains power.
- Printer starts to print ABCD ... ABCD...
- If it is does not print at all the printer is faulty.

ET2000 CALL DETAILS PROGRAM FOR PC

It is possible to send the call details such as called number , date, time, cost e.t.c. information
to a PC leaded with ET2000 program. The PC must have Windows operating system with
minimum 32 K RAM and 1 Mbyte free space of hard disk RS232C COM port of PC is
connected to the Pra-b and DTR terminals of the exchange.
-ET200 comes with a CD and a dangle.

Connect the dangle to one of COM ports of the computer

CID01 CALLER ID CIRCUIT

STAR1 exchange has the built in the caller id circuit to see the calling numbers and to store
them into the exchange memory.
KTS 300 set must be connected to the exchange for this purpose.
The circuit serves two external calls at the same time. To see the calling numbers it is
necessary to demand the CID service from the Telecom operator in the place where the
exchange is located. The module is designed according to FSK ETSI and Bell standards.
How does CID01 circuit work?

When there is a call from the external line with the CID feature the module receives the caller
ID data and shows them on the screen of KTS 300 set.
- The calling number stays on the LCD until the call is answered and hooked-on.
- If the call is transferred to another KTS 300 set the calling number is seen on the
other screen.
- If the call is not answered the calling line information stays until the next call.
- If the calling line number is hidden you see PRIVATE NUMBER ,if the calling line is
from an area without the CID service you see UNAVAILABLE information on the
screen.
STAR1 exchanges have 50 caller ID memories.
Reviewing and calling back the calling numbers

The subscribers with KTS 300 set may review 50 last calling numbers and call back them by
a single touch. After hook-off the KTS 300 telephone if you dial 7444 code you see the last
calling number info on the screen as follows;

1.General :
KTS-300 key telephone set may be connected to the exchanges as an operator console set.
It may also be used as a key telephone set connected to the internal lines of the exchange.
The number of KTS-300 set that may be connected to the exchanges is twenty .
2.Parts of KTS-300 set:

-The handset
-Spiral cord

3.Preparation of KTS-300 :
-Connect one side of the spiral cord to the handset and the other side to the handset jack
located at the button of the telephone cabinet.
-Adjust the desired ring level to L (low) or H (high) .
After those adjustments the telephone is ready to be connected to the exchange.

4.Connection of KTS-300 to the exchange

a-)Connecting KTS-300 as an Operator Console Set:
Connect the cable with the plugs between the line jack of phone and the KTS300 CONSOLE
jack of the exchange. KTS-300 is ready to operate.
If the distance between the exchange and the place where the telephone is installed is more
than 5 meter either you ask for a longer line cable from the company or prepare an extension
cable by yourself. 6xAWG26/7FLAT cable plugged with 6P/6C plugs on two sides is used for
connecting the exchange and KTS-300 telephone.
b-) Connecting multiple KTS-300 telephones to the exchange:

It is possible to connect more than one KTS-300 set to the exchange.
It is possible to connect up to 20 set of KTS-300 to the exchange.
If more than one KTS-300 will be connected to the exchange a KTS-300 CONNECTION
BOX is provided for easy cable connection.

It is recommended to use 6 wire flat cable (6xAWG26/7FLAT) between the connection boxes
and telephones. After installing the cable between the two set , 6P/6C type plugs are inserted
to the ends of the cable. The cables used must be in the same order for two sides.
Definition of KTS-300 set to the exchange:

As a factory default the KTS-300 set is defined as the operator console set (internal number
0).
If multiple number of KTS-300 set is connected to the exchange it is necessary to define to
which internal number KTS-300 set is connected. If it is not defined the messages related
with that telephone will not be seen on the screen and the buttons on the set will not operate.
- Connect the data line and voice line of the KTS-300 set to the Connection Box. And then
connect KTS-300 to the connection box.
- Hook off the phone (or press HF button).
Press OTOCALL and M4 buttons at the same time. You see the following screen:

6.Functions of The Buttons

The buttons on KTS-300 set are used for easy activation of the widely used features of the
exchange without need to remember the codes.
Some buttons may function immediately without hooking-off the hand-set or activating HF.
Just pressing that button is enough to activate the related feature (e.g. press T1 button to
seize the T1 line immediately).
For some cases , such as when HANG-UP , LINE SEIZED messages appear on the
telephone , the device is turned-off automatically in three seconds.
T1,T2,T3,T4 buttons
Default: They are used to seize the external lines1 to 4.
If you press another Tx button when you are in conversation with an external line the new
external is seized and the other is released. When you are in conversation with an external
line if you press M1-M4internal line call buttons the external is hold on and the internal is
called automatically. If you hook on the phone the call is transferred to the called internal line.
Programming T1-T4 buttons (see also the Programming Buttons section)

a) By programming the T1-T4 buttons it is possible to use those buttons for selecting the
group of externals rather than only one specific external (e.g. by programming the T3 button
it is possible to use T3 for seizing the free external in the external group of code 9. ) For
example, T1 may be used for seizing POTS lines,T2 for GSM FCT lines,T3 is used for
special lines.

b) T1-T4 may also be used for seizing the other external lines by programming. For example,
it is possible to program T1 button for seizing the external 6.
OTO CALL
If a called external number is busy and you press the OTO CALL button you see on the
screen WILL CONNECT message. You hook-on the phone. The wandering arrows are seen
on the screen , indicating that the exchange keeps calling the number. When the called party
starts ringing your telephone rings and you talk.
MEM CALL
To call a number recorded inside of the special or common memory of the exchange ,press
MEM CALL button and the dial the memory number. The exchange calls that number and
you talk.
OTO MEM
If you want the exchange to connect you a number recorded inside of the exchange memory
you press OTO MEM and dial the memory number. You see WILL CONNECT message on
the screen . You hook-on the phone The exchange calls the number and connects it. The
wandering arrows seen on the screen indicates that the exchange keeps calling the number.
M1,M2,M3,M4 buttons
Default values:
M1 to M4 buttons are initially used for calling the internal numbers as following table.

a) Programming M1-M4 buttons to call some other internal numbers:

It is possible to program M1-M4 to call some other internal numbers other than the default
values. (see the button programming section)
b) Programming M1-M4 buttons to call the numbers recorded inside the exchange
memory:
It is possible to program M1-M4 buttons to call the numbers recorded inside of the special or
common memory of the exchange.
Thus, you may call an external number by a single touch. For example, if M1 is programmed
for memory 56,when M1 is pressed the number in memory 56 called and talked.
PARK
During a conversation with an external line if you press PARK button the external line
becomes on hold and your telephone becomes free for other tasks by giving you the dial
tone. In that case ,for example, you may dial 6 to seize the another external line calling.

PARK S
It is used to re-seize the external lines parked before.
CONF
This button is used to make conference call with the internal or external lines .If you are
talking to an external or internal line and you want to add another internal or external line to
the conversation, press CONF, call the third party and re-press CONF button. You are in
conference.
FLASH
FLASH may be used to hold on the conversation.
(NOTE: If FLASH will be used to transfer the calls instead of * the flash feature of the
subscriber must be programmed at the exchange (program 7447 83 aaa /5)).
If the flash feature (600 ms) is not programmed the flash button cuts the conversation by
giving the dial tone.
REDIAL
To call the last external number that you dialled, press REDIAL and hold on .
HF (Hand free)
You can make calls or activate some features by pressing HF button without hooking-off the
handset. Some features of the telephone turns on the HF automatically when the related
button is pressed. (e.g. press T1 to seize the external T1 without hooking-off the handset)
WARN (Key 1)
If the called internal number is busy and you press WARN button , you inject a tone to the
earphone of the busy subscriber.
PICK UP (Key 6 )
If there is an incoming external call you may answer that by pressing PICK UP button.(To
use that feature, the telephone must be either hooked-off or HF pressed).
HOLD (Key *)
You may hold on a conversation by pressing * button.
Note that * pressing duration must be longer than the other digits.
HOOK-OFF (Key # )
When your phone is hook-off, pressing this button gives you dial tone.
Note that # pressing duration must be longer than the other digits.

playing up and down (T1,T2 keys ) select the key that will be programmed and make ENTER

BATTERY MODULE
If the main power of the exchange (220VAC) is often broken down it is necessary to add the
Battery Module to the exchange to back up the system power. The battery module works with
two pieces of 12V maintenance free battery up to 12 Amper hours capacity. When the mains
power is off the battery module supplies the exchange energy and when the power is on the
battery module charges the batteries.
MT26,STAR2 and STAR1 use the some battery module circuit.2x12V battery is connected to
module with a pair of cable with minimum 2x0.75 mm2 thickness.
The module connection to the exchange is done by a cable with two sides plugged.
-It is recommended not to connect more than 12 Amper hour capacity batteries to the
system. The exchange may have trouble to charge the batteries.
-If the battery cables are connected wrong side the 3A fuse on the board is blown out.
-When the battery voltage becomes less than 18V the module separates the battery from the
exchange. So it prevents to dry out the batteries.
-Note that connection of any type of battery other than the maintenance free battery may
cause problem to the system.

PROGRAMMING THE EXCHANGE

After installation,user may desire to alter system parameters or subscriber
authorization status .The system enables user to alter the parameters either by using
subscriber number 0 or employing external lines for remote programming.
Modified system / terminal parameters is retained in the system memory.
At power breakdowns,3.6V NiCd alkaline battery supplies the memory and they
last about a week.
If it is desired to make the system with initial factory parameters program 959 is
dialled from the operator set.
PROGRAMMING THE SYSTEM BY SUBSCRIBER 0 (OPERATOR)
- Hook off the micro telephone and receive the dial tone.( “DIAL” is shown on the
display of the operator console.
- Dial programming code 7447.(“PROGRAM” is shown on the display.)
- And then, dial the codes which are given below in programming section.
- As long as you keep the telephone hook off you will be in programming mode;
no matter entered data is valid or not. If the entered data is valid the exchange
will give the ring-back tone. If not ,the busy tone will be given.
- After hearing the tone ( whether ring-back or busy ) you may go on next programming
procedures.
REMOTE PROGRAMMING OFF THE SYSTEM
It is possible to program the system remotely. All is needed to make an external

conversation and to enter the programming codes.
-One makes an external conversation.

-The remote side dials 341*and a four digit password from a DTMF telephone.
(IF A PASSWORD IS NOT GIVEN, DIAL 1234)
Example: During an external conversation dial 341*1234.System enters to programming

mode (NOTE: YOU MUST NOT DIAL 7447 AS LOCAL PROGRAMMING).
-After that, during your conversation, you may enter the programming codes
given below. Ring-back (or busy tone) will be heard after each valid (or unvalid ) code.
NOTE: *key corresponds hook-flash or transfer button action in remote programming.
LOCKING THE PROGRAM
If you dial 7521 xytz * from the operator telephone the programming is locked
( xytz is the password given by you ). To enable the program one must re-enter 7521xytz*
When the exchange is locked , no one may enter the programming.

Some times it is necessary to restrict some subscriber use of some external
lines. For that, the external lines are grouped as follows for STAR1 and program 85 (see
program 85 ) is used to restrict subscribers.

ee : All external lines assigned to be in group ( 1-6 ).
* : Transfer or hook flash operation.
Default groups is as follows :
1.st group consist of all external lines, 1-12.
2.nd group consist none external lines.
3.rd group consist none external lines.

To access those groups one should dial the following codes:
If the subscriber has been authorized to only one group he may dial 9 to
access to any group.
9 for group 1
81 for group 2
82 for group 3
83 for group 4
88 for group 5
89 for group 6
NOTE: External lines in a group is selected sequentially as default.
21.GENERAL NIGHT SERVICE ( code 96 )
960 System in normal operation (DEFAULT ).

The same feature may be applied by dialling 7446 and 7448 from the operator (no need to
enter the programming)
When the system is in general night service:

incoming calls.(Default number is 0. )

25. ENTERING CHARGING COUNTER FEE ( code 98 )

If Telecom lines send 12/16 KHz charging tone the exchange receives and
prints out the pulse count and other call data .If charging unit fee is entered
the exchange automatically calculates the cost of the call and prints out.
98 xxxxxx where xxxxxx is counter fee (6 Digits ).
Example: If one counter fee is 20 cents you enter 98002000.Please note that last
two digits has no meaning.
26. RESTRICTION OF EXTERNAL CONVERSATION DURATION FOR

INCOMING AND OUTGOING ( code 99 )
99 aaa 0 Infinite (DEFAULT ).

99 aaa 1 Conversation limited to 3 minutes.
99 aaa 4 Incoming external call duration is restricted. The duration is defined by 99 aa 0-3.

29. CANCELLING FOLLOW-ME SUBSCRIBER ( code 954 )
954 Cancel all entered follow-me subscribers.

955 is entered.
Some times subscribers enter the pass – words to lock their telephones but latter
forget the pass-word .This program cancels all passwords entered by the sub-
scribers.
31. CHANGING THE * AND # FUNCTIONS ( code 966 )
966 * for hold on # refresh of dial tone ( DEFAULT ).

967 * for refresh of dial tone # for hold on
32. SENDING HOOK-FLASH TO AN UPPER EXCHANGE
956 is entered.( For cancelling enter 956 ).

If the exchange is connected to another exchange some times it is required to
transfer call inside of the other exchanges. After this program , pressing # button
of DTMF telephones makes hook-flash through the external line and makes hold
the upper exchanges line.
33. OPERATING TIME OF SPECIAL RELAY
957 operating time of the special relay is 0.8 sec.

958 operating time of the special relay is 2 sec.
34. CLEARING COMPLETE MEMORY OF THE EXCHANGE
959 in entered.
All data entered related to the customer is cleared. (Exchanges becomes as out
of factory.)

35. RESTRICTION OF EXTERNAL CALLABLE NUMBERS

It is possible to restrict some external numbers to be called by some subscribers.
The numbers are entered by 70sskkk* (see restriction codes entrance.) The
restricted number of group are assigned as follows;

85 aaa 31 1.Group ( entered codes in 01-05 ).

HOTEL/MOTEL FEATURES
OPERATOR WAKE – UP SERVICE
Operator dials 7441 then room number and then and then wake – up time from his
telephone set.
Example : Room 105 will be woken up at 7:30.
The operator enters 7441 105 0730.The printer prints the information for the
verification.
When the time enters becomes 07:30the telephone of the room 105 rings and when it is
hooked – off it gives a special warning tone. The wake – up service time is printed
out whether the room answer or not for the purpose of the verification.
Cancel the wake – up service :
The operator dial 7442 and the room number.
CHECK – IN AND CHECK – OUT

It is used to find the total charge of the room customer that the calls are
originated from his room .
When a room is assigned to the customer the operator clears the customer
counter by dialling 744781 aaa 8 ( check in ).
Where aaa is the real exchange number corresponding to the room number. This
action is printed to the printer.
Example : Room number 255 corresponds to the exchange no 135.Then the

operator dials 7447811358 to clear the charge counter of that subscriber.
When the customer leaves his room the operator by dialling 744781 aaa 7 prints
out the total of the charge counter ( check – out ).If a new customer moves to the
room the CHECK – IN is done again.
ROOM WITH CREDIT CALL

It is possible to assign some amount of credit to the room by the operator
entering ;
7474 90 aaaa xxxx
where aaaa is the exchange number of the room

xxxx is the credit counter value.
The operation is printed out for verification.

Example : If room number 255 corresponds to the exchange number 135 and the
customer quires 100 counter fee 7447 90 135 0100 is dialled and the result is
printed.
During each conversation of the customer the credit value is decreased. When the
credit ends the room telephone is restricted to the outside calls.
When the customer leaves the hotel the operator dials 7447 81 aaa 7 to make
CHECK – OUT. The printer prints our all relevant data including total counter and
credit value used.
FLEXIBLE NUMBERING
It is often required to change the exchange numbers according to the room
numbers of the hotel / motels. It is possible to use the flexible numbering feature
of the exchange to change terminal numbers.
It is possible to assign the following numbers to any terminal
- Numbers starting 1,2,3,4 ( up to 4 digits )
e.g 1 or 11 or 111 or 1111.
- Numbers 50,51,52,501-529.
- Numbers 61-65,67,68,69,601-619.
- Numbers 70,71,701-719.
NOTE :If you assign 11 to a room you may not assign 111 to any other place.
The flexible numbering program is entered as ;
7447 91 aaa xytz*
Where aaa is the exchange number

xytz is the room number.
NOTE1: The initial numbers are as 0,101,102,103...

NOTE2: It is possible to erase the room number by entering 7447 91 * to return back to
default values .In this case the terminal numbers become the initial numbers as 0,102,102....
NOTE3: By the program 7447899 it is possible to print the flexible numbers to the
printer.
NOTE4:It is advisable to write the flexible numbers to the tables provided to you.
