The effect of technologies in Senior High School and College

student at Maila Rosario College

Introduction

Many of us are living with technologies, we all know that


many profound person invented technologies to make our daily
life easy. The evolution of technology has changed the
society in both positive and negative ways. People all over
the world use and benefit from modern technology. Technology
need in education, medicine, communication,transportation
and etc. Many people using technologies by doing their work
to make it easier and faster. But using too much
technologies is not good for us, especially in our
community. Today, technology influences and affects every
aspect of our life. However, we often forget that it
profoundly affected the lives of past generates dating back
to the beginning of civilization. Perhaps not to today’s
extent, but the impact was still dramatic. Technologies
changed the way people live, work and play. Many people do
not realize that technology has its bad effects especially
to the student. Because, many student prioritize the gadgets
instead of studying hard, because they are addicted in
gadgets.

“Technology” we all know that it has an important role in


our life, technology is one of the most brilliant invention
of mankind. As of now of 21st century us we can see
technology is one of the useful materials for communicating
with others especially to our family that do not too talk
much our activities, our relatives, and especially our
special someone in distant place to seek life and to supply
our need. Because of technology, our communication is easier
and more widely spread abroad. And also to make our life
better by the help of social media like [ Facebook,
messenger, twitter, instagram and etc]. And by the use of
this technology we can use our assignment, projects, and
also it is used to compute our grade faster and easy. There
are many technologies that are invented like gadgets,
machines, transportation and many more. All of that is made
for us.

We live in this world of modern technology not


surprisingly, our use of technology has two affects that are
both positive and negative ways. Its positive affect is that
it helps us, especially in the everyday life of our lives.
And because of technological well being we are communicating
with other people especially in other countries. Most of us
here are getting information and gathering data about what’s
happening in our society especially in our country. And its
negative impact, is the use of excessive social media
students and they are even more priority in using social
media than they go to school to educate his/her self. Not
only student are affected but also people, as well as our
health and our environment. With the use of technology we
need to be wise to avoid the effects of our study, our
health, and our environment.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION


This study has focused on the impact of technology in the
study of Senior High School and College student at Maila
Rosario College. Where it is limited and finite. Its turn
study only fifty [50] students of Maila Rosario College
where it is divided into Senior High School and College
student.

SIGNIFICANT OF STUDY
This study has provoke the impact of technology in the
study of SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and College student in Maila
Rosario College.It greatly helps in our lives especially in
the student, it guides them and to help us find ways to
improve her skill and improve the vision of proper use of
technology in Maila Rosario College.It will also help for
student to understand and reflect on the proper use of
social media us they develop them selves.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
1.Social media- websites, applications, or online channels
that enable users to create, co-create, discuss, modify, and
exchange user-generated content.
1.Facebook- uses a variety of service, tools and programming
languages to make up its core infrastructure. It is a
popular free social networking website that allows user to
share registered users create a profiles, upload photos and
video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family
and colleagues.
2.Twitter- is an online news and social networking service
where users post and interact with messages, known as
“tweets”.
3.Instagram- is a mobile,desktop, and internet-based photo-
sharing application and service that allows user to share
picture and videos either publicly or privately to pre-
approved followers.
4.Messenger- is a mobile tool that allows users to instantly
send chat messages to friends on Facebook.Messages are
received on their mobile phones and also enables users to
send chat messages to people who are logged onto their
Facebook.
5.Technology-the application of scientific knowledge for
practical purposes, especially in industry.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

POSITIVE AND NEGETAIVE EFFECT OF TECHNOLOGY TO THE STUDENT


In today’s world, there is no question that technology has
become a part of our everyday lives. According to MOBILE
TECHNOLOGY FACT SHEET-2015 Pew Research study, 58% of
American adults have a Smart phone,32% own an e- reader and
42% own a tablet. These statistic make it clear that adults
are adapting to new and emerging technologies.This study
focuses on secondary school students learning different
subjects using technology. According to Children and
Computer Technology- effects on Cognitive skills and
Academic performance, playing specific computer games has
been founded to have immediate positive effect on specific
cognitive skills, like thinking and knowing. Using Computers
at home has been linked mildly positive effects on Academic
performance.This will assist children to understand language
and numbers, to reason and problem solve, and to learn and
remember.The term “cognitive skills”include a wide
collection of competencies; research on effects of
technology use on cognitive skills has developed specific
set of visual intelligence skills to use computer
technology. Playing computer action games with fast movement
of metaphor and powerful interaction with multiple
activities occurring concurrently at different locations on
the screen, research indicates that children who play such
games can enhance their visual intelligence skill. THE
FUTURE OF THE CHILDREN [ FALL/ WINTER 200]. Such skills can
be used in the field of science and technology.Research has
shown using technology in classroom as a tool for establish
meaningful projects to engage students in critical thinking
and problem solving. Technology can be used restructure and
redesign the classroom to enable an environment that
promotes the development of high order thinking skills.

Technology also increases student collaboration.
Collaboration is highly effective tool to learning. Students
cooperatively works together to either create projects or
they can learn from each other by reading the work of their
peers.Studying mathematics using technology, the study shows
positive result on the student learning in mathematics.
Teacher noted that the internet provided math activities at
different levels. Its gave student an opportunity to choose
the level they are comfortable working. The result showed
that student were engaged during the math lesson using
technology and were able to discuss what they learned the
following day. Some students who participated in the lesson
believed that the computer helped them understand what the
teacher was saying about the lesson.Technology can be used
as a away to create
Hands-on and meaningful math lesson[Herron, 2010].
Technology for student with special learning needs.The
Etiwanda School District in California has implemented a
technology integration program district wide. Teachers
received technology training and then began integrating
technology into general education lesson on a daily basis.
This program also included a practical technology support
plan fr teachers working with student with special needs.
This plan enabled teachers to help these student by weaving
technology resources into instruction in meaningful ways.
The plan proved to be successful in the Etiwanda School
District. The students with especial learning needs are now
meeting their IEP[ Individualized Education Program] goals
more quickly due to this technology integration. They are
also improving their performance on district
benchmarks[ Courduff,2011]

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY


Internet usage in secondary school familiar, based on the
report on Children and Internet use: A comparative analysis

that the top five activities reported across countries
pointed to dominance interact of activities such as visiting
social network sites
And watching video clips across group of 11 to 16 years
old. This shown that rapid access to mobile devices tends to
lead to greater demand for uninterrupted connectivity,
involving communication, entertainment and knowledge
acquisition. From a point view of multimedia, children
interact not only with family and wider community through
these devices in the sense of public backgrounds express
ambivalent position to children. They indicate their
motivation to provide mobile devices to children as a tools
to enable parental control and opportunities for digital
inclusion. However they expressed the concern about their
accesses to content considered inappropriate, such as cyber
bullying, exposure to advertising and contact with
strangers.[Haddon and Vincent,2014]
Online study of EU kids,[Smahel and Wright,2014] many
children have come across sexual content on the internet. It
is mostly uncontrollably, appears or pops up on commonly
used platforms, such as Google,YouTube, Facebook, o gaming
sites. Of relevance to this report, children often encounter
sexual content on certain messaging and blogging apps on
mobile devices, like on be upsetting, children are much more
concerned about risk of sex ting. Exchanging sexual messages
and content , and sometimes showing these Smart phone’s, can
occur as part of sexual experimenting and/or joking between
peers, especially among boys, the practice of [girls]
sharing sexy pictures is generally disapproved,and seen as
asking for trouble, whether the pictures are posted on
social media or exchanged in private messages. With the
Smart phone it is also easy to react to this quickly,
similar to online bullying, children have the impression
that mobile devices facilitate taking and sharing pictures,
also sexy pictures that may be misused:
CONCLUSION
Technology plays a vital role in education sector to
enchance the learning potential for students. It has to
focus to be a supplement teaching tool to do interactive
presentation using, video clips, graphics and other audio
visual element to make student actively engage in lessons,
as well as to keep lesson alive. This will motivates student
to learn further. A fifth grade teacher was quoted in a U.S
Department of Education article saying,”Technology is the
ultimate carrot for student. Its something master they want
