TONY sald the lid of that was off. (03:57) TONY sald that typically doesn’t happen but if Maintenance was working on it and then had to go someplace for a tool the lid may be off. TONY called down into the box and there was no response. As part of his job TONY Is not allowed to go into that area. (05:27) Only mechanics are allowed to go into there, ‘That is when he called to Maintenance to ask them if they wanted TONY to see ifthe minf carpet would reset. ‘That is when they told him they are 2 seconds out so he told them he was standing by. Maintenance shows up and they start troubleshooting what could be the problem, ‘TONY was there before and the whale time the mechanics were there, (06:04) TONY was there through the whole thing including some of Adams extrication. When TONY got there the Mini Carpet was stopped. That was what prompted the original eall over the radio was that it read it had a malfunction. (06:35) The configuration of the Mint Carpet Is a Iittle bit beyond TONY but he sald there are rollers that drive it basically. When asked if the rollers were moving, TONY said that when it stops the motor stops so he would speculate that the rollers were also stopped. (07:16) TONY sald when the’ Min! Carpet is running itis pretty quiet. There Is a light electrical hum to It. He said it sound similar to the conveyor belt at the grocery store. ‘The time frame for the whole thing would have been long enough for the lift operator to walk to a phone when the lit stopped to cal Ski Patrol Dispatch who then airs that over the radio, TONY does not know the exact time that occurred but it would have been fairly quickly. From the time TONY heard it on the radio to the time the mechanies showed up was probably 3 to 5 minutes. ‘The mechanics reset the lift, When TONY says the lift he is referring to the Mini Carpet. ‘They then tried to restart it and it didn't start, (09:19) It showed a speed fault. TONY was asked to go get some of the wrenches that were needed. They then started to get into it and look at the tensioning system. That is out of TONY'S "scope" somewhere In there then Adam was discovered under the Carpet. TONY seid when the lift is reset he described It as a key based system and the center line Is operating, turn the key to the left is reset and to the right Is to start the carpet, (10:22) Shore is a brake but TONY is not sure ifits a friction brake or an interruption of electricity that just stops power to the lit. ‘ADAM was discovered very shortly, maybe 2 minutes into getting there. When they tried to restart the Mini Carpet the belt did move a little bit but not much, maybe & distance of 6 Inches maybe. TONY had never seen that before, he wouldn't say It was stuck but there was definitely 2 malfunction ‘of some kind. (11:37) ‘The belt did rolla little bit but not much. Six Inches is probably on the long side. There was very litte movement. ‘There was about one to two minutes between when they started to restart the machine to when they found ADAM. TONY did notice when he first got there that the door was open to the access to get down into thé area under the Mini Carpet. TONY did yell down there to see if anyone was down there no response, ( 12:28) TONY didn't see anyone else yell down into that area to see if anyone was there, TONY said he saw ADAM down there before they pulled him out, A lot of the view was obstructed by snow but he could see his glove and part of his face. He could only see a glove and doesn’t know If ADAM'S hand was in there or not, (13:29) He could only see part of his face because of the snow and the conveyor and the shadows.
