[ STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE / NARRATIVE ]

On 1/25/2018 I was dispatched to 5755 East Milton Rd (main Sheriff's Office) in reference to a battery
complaint. The battery occurred at 8401 Sierra Echo Lane.

April Melvin and her live in boyfriend of two years, Jay Owens, got into a verbal argument approximately 30
minutes prior to her arrival. The argument was over Jay's hat getting peed on by the dog. During the argument, Jay
became irate and began screaming in her face, and with his right hand, grabbed that back of her neck and forced her to
the ground. He pressed a finger into the center of the back of her neck. He held her head down to the floor and yelled in
her ear. He yelled profanities and insults for several minutes. After the argument was over he asked for her to drive him
to the Harold Store. She dropped him off, and went to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's office to file a report. She
completed a sworn witness statement that will be submitted into Records.

I observed her neck to be red, and to have a bruise in the center of her neck with the approximate size of a
thumb. Digital photos were taken of April and will be uploaded to case management.

A domestic violence victim notification and a domestic violence questionnaire were completed; Melvin was
supplied with a victim's rights and remedies packet. EMS arrived on scene and transported her to Santa Rosa Hospital
for her injuries. Dispatch advised there were no active DVI's between either party.
