MEMORANDUM FOR THE SUPREME ALLIED COMMANDER, EUROPE

SUBJECT: ACE responses to an intervention in Poland (NC)

Reference: SACEUR Letter of 30 June 1981

(NS) Thank you for your letter concerning military response options in the
Polish context which was considered by the Military Committee on Thursday,
2 July. I have suggested to the Secretary General that the Council con-
sider the matter at their meeting on Wednesday, 8 July, by which time we
shall have a Military Committee position incorporating the military ele-
ment of the consideration by nations which you requested.
