Conclusion
I’m doing an assignment on Nokia, and wondered what else Nokia make other than receivers and
mobile phones; the site is really useful, I just hope that I’ve covered all the products Nokia
manufacture, as this is a main bulk of the assignment. (Knowing what Nokia make) so I’m up to
date with the mobile phones, just the other products, if anyone could help, I would really appreciate
it. Two brains are better than one! Thank you

Nokia Mobile Phones - Nokia History - Nokia Mobile Phone Information - Nokia
Mobile Phone Data
Nokia began its life by a river of the same name in Finland when Fredrik Ides tam set up a wood-pulp
mill to manufacture paper in 1865. In 1898 a rubber company was established in the same
region although unconnected with the other business. Later, in 1912, a company that became
known as the Finnish Cable Works opened in the centre of Helsinki. Ten years on, the Finnish
Rubber Works bought majority shares in both Finnish Cable Works and Nokia Abs, the
ground wood producer. Thus the three independent companies began to pool their resources
and co-operate, evolving into a more cohesive group. Over time a community established
itself around the factories and became the town of Nokia. The companies continued to operate
under a single umbrella for some considerable time. In fact it was only as recently as 1966 that
the companies decided officially to merge and Nokia began functioning as the business that
we recognize today. When all of the Nokia divisions joined in the 1960's, electronics made up
about 3% of the overall company sales. By 1980, Nokia had begun focusing its energies
internationally on becoming a communications company. It was around this time that a
department called Dedicated Networks was set up to deal specifically with transmission
technology and Private Mobile Radio (PMR). Although initially based in Finland, Dedicated
Networks had a global sales base. The seeds of Nokia's eventual international success had
been planted.

Like the 1000 series, the 2000 series are entry-level phones. However, the 2000 series generally
contain more advanced features than the 1000 series; many new 2000 series phones feature color
screens and some feature cameras, Bluetooth and even A-GPS, such as in the case of the Nokia
2710. The 2000 series slot between the 1000 and 3000 series phones in terms of features.

Concept phones:
Nokia is working toward the future of phones and mobile communication devices with their new
concept phone, the Nokia "Sensory" such as Nokia Morph. This new mobile device uses the sense
of smell, sight, hearing, and touch to create a multiscensory environment for the caller. Sensory
would be able to detect, send, and emit smells, as well as radiate colors, lighting, and temperature
from the environment of the caller. Dual screens can be used for personal video messaging as well
as watching videos.
Sensory also includes features such as an LED touchpad, hidden camera, and folding "origami"
design, revolutionizing not only features previously foreign to the phone (or any other technical
device), but introducing a new physical design to the phone.

Best Place to Buy Nokia n97 Cell Phone
If you've come to this page then you're probably interested in Nokia N97 cell phone. Guess what?
You've come to the right place to buy the nokia n97...So, if you like this phone then read my
little review below and Buy Your Own Nokia N97 Cell phone right now!
Design
The Nokia N97 Cell Phone looks amazing! It's design looks like a cross between a lot of the latest
phones...In fact, it's not a cell phone, it is something better - mobile computer.
Basically it looks kind of like an i phone. It's 3.5 inch display dominates the whole front of the cell
phone, except for the little button which is the shortcut key to the multimedia applications. The
"call" and "end" buttons are touch sensitive and on the top of the phone there is a 3.5mm
headphone jack and a power button. As a whole, it looks very stylish – i bought mine in white
color, but you can buy it in black color as well!
The cell phone's interface is quick and responsive. It is very easy to navigate the controls and you
can easily find everything that you need. You can barely see any hiccup on the accelerometer
transition...The user interface is also quite new, but it's user friendly, so you don't have to worry
about anything. What i really liked about this phone is that it's touch optimized and that means you
can play with a lot of widgets. This is a luxury phone with a lot of great features...It supports TV
Out, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, and a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and
so much more!
The keyboard on this cell phone is nice, wide and very easy to use and for multimedia playback the
Nokia N97 Cell phone packs some serious hardware, plus it has some superior specs, including
massive storage, great connectivity, and a very long battery life.
Overview
To sum it all up, i just want to say that Nokia n97 is the best cell phone that i've ever bought and it's
definitely worth the money! It's a luxury phone with so many great features which allow you to do
almost everything. So if you really like this phone then go for it! I guarantee you will be more than
thrilled about this phone! :)
The Nokia vs. Apple legal battle over patents won’t be over anytime soon. It looks like the first
actual trials will start only in 2012, when a U.S. court should decide which company infringed
which patents.
According to Reuters and some unmentioned analysts, Nokia seeks damages in cash of up to $1.36
billion from Apple.
The Finnish phone maker filed a suit against Apple back in October last year, claiming that the
Cupertino company’s iPhone infringes 10 of its patents. Apple responded with a countersuit in
December, saying that it’s actually Nokia which infringes 13 of its patents. Apple later removed
four patents from the claiming, but this has not stopped Nokia to counter-countersuit the iPhone
maker with another complaint (also filed in December).
Meanwhile, Apple has also sued HTC, obviously also for alleged patent infringements.
Am I the only one who thinks all this is just a waste of money and time?

Segmentation
Camera Phones Plaza
Jun 25 2010
With any brand and company before launching a new product on the market there should be done a
market study and after analyzing the result, the segmentation of the market is the next step. When
the market has been classified after certain categories of consumers the marketing strategies must
be applied. For example if the market is receptive to the new product certain price or promotion
strategies must be put into application. And because Nokia is such an important and well-
corporation they can afford good publicity and higher prices as they focus on certain types of
consumers.
Take for example the Eastern Europe, where 20% mobile users are business people, and thus
generating more than 50% revenue than the usual consumers. This is because they spend more time
talking on the phone and in most cases they ask for multimedia phones to always stay connected
and have the best features and facilities. As there are users of Nokia phones, the attentions should
be focused on potential customers, and market segmentation strategies should be implemented to
attract new customers and create a new value of profit.
For example, the size of an organization is a factor that defines choosing certain type of mobile
services. Small company usually uses standard solutions including voice services but on the other
side, big enterprises will choose a full-option mobile solution including IT and telecommunication
services to all employees. And as most of them receive a contact phone from their place of work,
aiming at a business sector is aiming in fact towards multiple consumers even they want it or not.
It’s all about targeting the right type of clients.
Strategies regarding price might turn out to be vital marketing solutions in order to select mobile
voice users. Price differentiations allows the company to sell their products even if they are the
same or just similar to different organizations or enterprise customers. You probably saw that the
price is different in the majority of places or countries; it is unlikely to see the same price in two or
three countries. This is the price differentiation strategies that Nokia has implemented to gain and
take over the telecommunication market.
Other strategies might include bundling more services in the same package and at attractive prices.
For example, voice service with internet connectivity or free download for certain websites. These
multimedia features will attract the youth as they are always concerned of having the latest trends.
Nokia doesn’t aim only business sector but also to us, the usual users by offering products to suit
our needs if we have the certain amount of money. Maybe not everyone can afford the latest phone
from Nseries but there are other models which can satisfy out desires. It is no wonder why Nokia
has been in top on this market, and this is because it knows the types of consumers, where to aim
and what to offer for the market to get their products and for them to get the profits.
Targeting
IDG News Service (Bangalore Bureau) — Nokia will offer information services on mobile phones
targeted at users in rural or emerging markets.
Nokia Life Tools will be rolled out in select countries in Asia and Africa, starting with India in the
first half of next year, Nokia said on Tuesday.
The company also launched seven new phones, including the Nokia 1202 which it described as its
lowest cost handset. Priced at 25 euro (US$32), the 1202 is a designed specifically for people in
rural areas, and includes features like a flashlight, extended battery life, loud ring tones and address
books for up to five users. The phone, which has a monochrome display, will be available in India
from this month, a spokeswoman for the company said.
Indian mobile service providers such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are targeting
rural areas in India as the next big opportunity, as urban markets are getting saturated. But offering
locally relevant content in local languages is key to expansion among rural customers.
Cellular services revenue in India is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 18 percent between this year and 2012 to cross US$37 billion, according to Gartner. The growth
will come from a rapidly proliferating rural market, low handset costs, and lower tariffs, the market
research firm said in July.
The Life Tools package includes educational resources and agriculture information. It uses SMS
(short message service) to deliver information, and can work even in areas where GPRS (General
Packet Radio Service) coverage is not available, Nokia said.
Nokia plans to conduct a limited scale pilot of Nokia Life Tools in the Maharashtra state of India
before the end of this year. It is working on the pilot with Idea Cellular, a GSM (Global System for
Mobile Communications) service provider.
Reuters Market Light (RML) data is part of the pilot, providing farmers with information on
weather, prices and availability of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and prevailing market prices for
produce. The information is customized to the farmer's location and selection of crops, and will be
delivered directly to his Nokia mobile phone, Nokia said. The company will also be testing delivery
of education resources during the pilot, though it has not finalized a partner for these services, the
spokeswoman said.
The pilot will be run using the Nokia 2600 classic and the Nokia 1680 phones, and services will be
available in Marathi, Hindi and English. These are languages that are relevant in Maharashtra state,
the spokeswoman said. Extending the service to other states in other Indian languages will be easy
as Nokia phones already support nine Indian languages, she added.

Positioning
Being the best equipped handset ever Nokia N73 has managed to overrun the king of all mobiles -
the slider Nokia N80. It features Symbian OS, 3 megapixels backed up by the label of Carl Zeiss,
USB Mass Storage, and works with office documents. Nokia N73 has a brilliant phonebook and a
good time organizer as well as an exceptional Internet browser. The interest in this new Nokia
phone is overwhelming worldwide.
Key Features:
• High-class display
• Very good functional keys
• Symbian S60 3rd edition
• Active stand-by mode
• 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics
• A second VGA camera for video calls
• UMTS support
• Infrared
• Bluetooth
• USB Mass Storage
• Great web browser
Main Disadvantages:
• Loose camera cover
• Uncomfortable and cheap-looking numeric keypad
• No memory card included
• Slippery joystick
• No Wi-Fi
• Web browser does not work in landscape mode
• Alarm clock is not repeated
Nokia N73 is a smartphone. It features the latest version of the OS many used to blame for lack of
applications, namely, Symbian S60 3rd Edition. Well, there is no need to worry about its
compatibility anymore as there are already a sufficient number of new or adjusted programs for the
above mentioned Symbian version on the mobile market. If you appreciate constructional
extravagances, you'd rather turn your attention to the slider Nokia N80. The new Nokia N73 is
rigorously classical: its dimensions are 110 x 49 x 19 mm; weight is 116 g.
All-side view
According to our evaluation Nokia N73 is the best mobile phone on the market; it won the
competition with the queen Nokia N80 with a result of 93 %. It is clear that no evaluation could be
absolutely objective as one always implies their own preferences, but there is no doubt that Nokia
N73 has the best equipment among all 200 mobile models that have been tested in our office. It is
simply the new mobile king. What's more, it is by 130 euro cheaper than the former winner Nokia
N80. (Please note, that Mobilmania.cz takes different approach in evaluating the mobile devices
compared to GSMArena.com, their rates are set by the editorial staff, not by the visitors)
Nokia Company speaks about this phone as of a "multimedia computer" because of its extensive
functions: photo camera, simple video calls camera, Web browser, primitive game console, MP3
player etc. I myself prefer to stick to the standard denomination "mobile phone" or possibly
"smartphone". Any cons?
The front plastic cover is not made of stunning material. On the other hand, it does not look as
cheap as the material used for the numeric part of the keypad (comment still to come). The only
elements on the left side of the phone are the Infrared port and the eyelet, in which a wrist or a neck
strip can be inserted. The original package includes a wrist strip only.
On the right side you will see three buttons: a volume control button in the top and a camera release
button together with a key for instant access to the image and video gallery beneath. A longer press
on the release button activates the camera interface.
A smartphone of a conservative look, Nokia N73 has also been given a sport touch thanks to the
original color combinations applied on its covers and the perforated plates on its top and bottom,
whose material imitates metal. On the top you will find two stereo speakers, between which is
located the Switch On/Off button. A fine grid covering the microphone is located on the bottom
side of the device.
Above the grid you will find the Pop-Port connector and the charger slot. The type of charger
Nokia uses in its recent models is very easy to break due to its small diameter. Along with the
handset, in the original package you will also find a USB cable for connection to a PC and a pair of
stereo earphones with a remote control, which can also serve as handsfree. An adapter for a
standard charger is present, of course. The package also contains a cleaning cloth with a Nokia logo
and slogan, and a CD with PC Suite and drivers.
Accessories from the original box of Nokia N73
Nokia phones have rarely been spoken as of devices of ideal body construction or perfect part hold.
Yet, Nokia N73 appears to be an exception to this rule; its construction is very good; all parts stick
together the way they should but one - the sliding cover of the camera, whose looseness reminds
me of Nokia 6681. More details about this problem can be found in the chapter devoted to the
camera.
Battery and SIM card bed. Common use requires charging every second day; during the tests I had to charge the phone every night

Nokia N70 has been on the market for about a year now - a period considered necessary in the
mobile world for the replacement of one mobile generation with another. For some people the
successor of Nokia N70 is Nokia N80, but according to me it is rather Nokia N73. N73 looks like a
standard square, but looked from aside it has the shape of a trapezoid. I like its color variants as
well as the design of its body: its front side is thin, while both lateral sides together with the rear
cover are always elaborated in a different color. The model we were delivered for the tests has a
silver front plate and violet-brown back and sides. Another possible color combination is white &
red (emanates young and sport spirit).

Conclusion
Our Nokia was running firmware v3.0614.0.1, dated 31-03-2006.Nokia is a truly amazing mobile
phone that has a couple of flaws - one of them quite serious. While the lack of a good voice dialing
system is a shame, and the lack of a functional automatic keylock is annoying, it is the battery life
issue that is going to be the potential deal breaker for many people. The brilliant features like WiFi,
the web browser, the camera, and the music player will be of no use if the phone has no power. So
if you are a heavy voice user, especially one that spends a lot of time in or travels through poor
reception areas, the Nokia probably won't cut it for you. But if you are more like me, where a
charger is nearly always close by and the signal is always strong, you will be awed by the Nokia -
and forgive it its poor battery life.
If Nokia could have doubled the size of the Nokia battery, even at the cost of an additional 18g, I
would have had no qualms about giving the device a highly recommended rating. But as things
stand, the Nokia earns only a "Recommended" rating because of the tarnish that the poor battery
life puts on an otherwise shining example of mobile technology.
