This time, PLASTINDIA 2018 has received tremendous response from the
exhibitors as well as visitors, both from India and overseas resulting in
surpassing of the records of all previous editions. This has been possible
due to tireless voluntary efforts for promotions and preparations by NEC
team comprising of the plastics industry captains, coupled with successful
implementation of automation processes for the various exhibition services.
Apart from regular concurrent events like PROPLAST, International Conference,
PLASTICON Awards function and Exhibitors’ Gala Nite being held with the
PLASTINDIA exhibitions, a unique B2B connect programme viz. Meet-2-Trade:
The Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) has been organized, for the first time,
for hosting international buyers to meet the exhibitors during PLASTINDIA
2018 and do mutually rewarding business deals. The challenging task to
conduct this B2B connect programme has been undertaken by one of our
Founder Members, The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) with
the proactive support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government
of India. The objective of this initiative is to bring 600 specially selected
international buyers to interact with exhibitors directly, thereby creating a
strong bond for business, networking, tie-up, and bilateral understanding
that would help both to extract maximum value.
Special industry pavilions are also being organised on medical and healthcare,
sports and fitness equipment, composites, automobile and robotics, transport
and infrastructure, and 3D printing to facilitate business collaboration and
trade alliances, as these sectors are direct consumers of plastics and allied
products and contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.
There is a special pavilion on the education activity undertaken by Plastindia

concepts such as ‘Smart Start’ mean a very easy and extremely
labour-saving operation. Due to a high degree of automation, many
central process steps can run automatically; technology advances
further save energy costs.
The rising demand and growing production of HDPE and PP woven
sacks, fabric and big bags inspire producers to recycle their own
production waste. The strategic decision relies on the capability to
recycle generated inhouse waste in the most optimum way that
can pay for itself by maximum reutilisation back in production
at the lowest conversion cost or even by selling highest quality
recycled granules.
With the quantum of daily production and the associated inhouse
waste, an efficient recycling machine simply makes meaningful
sense. Solutions offered today, help customers produce recycled
granules, close to virgin, and facilitate better admix ratio or fetch a
handsome selling price.

Q. Your expectations of the Union
Budget 2018.
Besides furthering incentives for ‘ease
of doing business’, Government should
increase the limits of SMEs by 3 - 4
times, which is Rs. 10 crore now. There is
really no big advantage to SMEs now in
manufacturing, marketing, finance and
many other spheres.
If the banks are allowed to take little
more risk in lending to MSME, where
less possibility of NPAs is there from
MSME, than one big corporate failure.
Say Rs. 1000 crore is given to one
corporate; in case of failure of one
corporate, Rs. 1000 crore would be lost
or should we say difficult to recovery.
In comparison, if the same Rs. 1000
crore is given to 100 MSMEs, 90 to
95% recovery from MSME is possible,
leading to a recovery of Rs. 900 crore
which will lead to higher productivity
and more employment.
Q. What is the global sentiment
towards the Indian plastics
industry? For what reason?
Indian plastics industry is now well
recognised, globally. There are world scale
polymer producers in the country now.
The converting industry also has quality
and branded players. Consumption
potential of India is significant now.
‘Make in India’ initiatives will also
attract more and more global players in
the field. The country’s manufacturing
sector is expected to jump from being
12th largest in the world to a forecasted
7th position by 2025.
India’s plastics export is poised to cross
USD 8 billion due to its positive growth
trend. The industry / Plexconcil is working
with the government on a strategy to
increase plastics export multifold from
the above figure. The plastics export market
is a USD 800 billion market globally.

with POLYMERS Communiqué. of the additives business?
ll C9 Regulations regarding recycling would impact polymer additives market,
Hall 2, Sta while attempting to protect the environment. Such regulations would
significantly impact the growth of plastics. Additives that could help in
degradation of plastics, therefore, find tremendous growth in future.
Also, there is a huge shift in the way industrial activity is being scrutinised
from the point of view of pollution. New guidelines for effluent treatment -
liquid, soil, gaseous and occupational are being set by CPCB, being strictly
monitored and punitive action taken where there in violation. This will set
new standards of governance and will bring about a certain maturity and
responsibility to the industry at large. The industry will now have to start
investing heavily in ensuring compliance towards all aspects of the business
and assume a more responsible approach towards the environment and
Umesh Anand society, at large.
Joint Managing Director
HPL Additives Ltd. Q. What kind of consolidation do you see happening in
this space?
Plastic additives market, while on the increase, will also see a lot of
consolidation and activity in terms of mergers and acquisitions. Smaller
players will be marginalised and innovation will be the differentiating factor
in the years to come. Some amount of consolidation has already started
and we are seeing some mergers and acquisitions both, domestically and
internationally. Some international companies in their ambition to establish
a footprint in India are looking for ways to enter the market. This presents
some opportunity as well as some threats.
