REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

A vacuum and mop cleaner makes it possible to concurrently cleaning a normal

floor and a wide range other than the floor such as a table, a shelf, audio furniture, a TV

set, etc. Since the dust and dirt adhering to the cleaning portion is collected into the dust

collection bag by means of the suction force of a motor blower in a state where the

cleaning portion is housed in the vacuum cleaner main body, it is possible to always

clean the cleaning portion and keep the cleaning portion in a sanitary condition.

According to (Kawamura et al 2011). The following quote was obtained by the

news editors from the background information supplied by the inventors: "A mop using

extrafine fiber of resin is used as a tool for cleaning a place with a complexly uneven

surface, a place which is too narrow for a suction unit of a vacuum cleaner to get in, and

a place where dust sticks to a surface to be cleaned.

"By cleaning with the mop, a considerable amount of dust adheres to the extra

fine fiber of the mop. When cleaning is continued in such a state, there is concern that

the adhering dust is scattered from the mop as well as that the surface to be cleaned is

scratched because the extra fine fiber of the mop collects not only dust but also

something hard such as sand and metal fragments while cleaning with the mop. In order

to suppress the dust from being scattered from the mop and suppress the surface to be

cleaned from being scratched, it is necessary, in each case where the dust, sand, metal

fragments, and the like have adhered to the mop, to suction them with equipment

having a suction function such as a vacuum cleaner.

"As a way to suction the dust on the mop, a vacuum cleaner has been devised in

which a cleaning portion of the mop can be housed in a vacuum cleaner main body and,

while the cleaning portion is housed in the vacuum cleaner main body, dust and dirt

adhering to the cleaning portion can be collected into a dust collection bag by means of

suction force of the vacuum cleaner and also floor cleaning can be performed. Such a

vacuum cleaner makes it possible to concurrently cleaning a normal floor and a wide

range other than the floor such as a table, a shelf, audio furniture, a TV set, and the like.

Moreover, since the dust and dirt adhering to the cleaning portion is collected into the

dust collection bag by means of the suction force of a motor blower in a state where the

cleaning portion is housed in the vacuum cleaner main body, it is possible to always

clean the cleaning portion and keep the cleaning portion in a sanitary condition."

How to clean floors

According to Vancouver, B.C. (1995). Some simple steps can lengthen the life

and save the shine of your resilient flooring, such as sheet vinyl flooring, vinyl- asphalt

or all-vinyl tiles.

Know what type of floor you're maintaining before buying cleaning and waxing products

for it. If you can't tell at a glance, ask your home's previous owner or a flooring expert.

8

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

Keep the maintenance pamphlet for a new floor-covering in a special file. Or write the

instructions on an index card and tape it inside the door of your cleaning-supplies

cabinet.

Dust-mopping or vacuuming floors daily gets rid of the fine grit that grinds the shine off

both waxed and no-wax floor-covering.

Dust mops are especially suited to the smooth, glassy finishes of no-wax floors. For any

floors, wool or synthetic mop heads are best; their static cling attracts dust.

To make the work go faster, buy a commercial dust mop.

Just lifting the dust mop head from the floor scatters dust. Plot a course that lets you

wipe the mop across the entire area, pulling dust along as you go. Then shake the mop

into a paper bag.

Don't use an oil-treated mop. It can turn a waxed surface gummy.

Wash a soiled mop head by hand in mild detergent, or tie it in a net bag and put it in the

washing machine. When dry, store the mop with the head up.

In addition to daily dust-mopping, most resilient floors can be kept clean by periodic

damp-mopping with clear, lukewarm water.

9

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

First, sweep or vacuum to remove loose debris. Dip your mop into the water, wring out

the excess and wipe sections of the floor. More floors are washed away than worn

away, so wring out your mop until it's almost dry.

Don't mop too often (once a week is good) and dry each section promptly. Water can

eventually make resilient floors brittle. Excess water will penetrate the seams of sheet

flooring or tiles and may dissolve protective coatings.

To clean more thoroughly, mop with water and a cleaning solution designed for your

floor.

Be sure to read the label when choosing a product. Abrasives or alkaline cleaners can

damage all-vinyl, vinyl-asphalt and other resilient floors.

Keep one mop just for rinsing; it's almost impossible to get all cleaning solution out of a

mop. Also use a second bucket filled with clear water. Wet a section of the floor with the

cleaning solution, let it stand, then mop to remove dirt. Rinse with clear water, then

damp-mop dry.

If you have a no-wax floor, applying a special vinyl dressing, available from flooring

dealers, will make it look better.

Most other resilient floors can benefit from the protection of wax.

10

Notre Dame of Marbel University
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

A waxed floor is easier to clean with occasional damp-mopping than one that's

unwaxed.

But remember: Too little wax is better than too much. Vancouver( 1995)

According to Edmonton, A. ( 2001). You could sweep or vacuum daily if you

prefer, but the point is to pick up as much as possible to avoid a layer of dirt, grit, or

sand accumulating and scarring a hard or resilient floor.

If you have already allowed soil and debris to settle on your new floor, sweep it first or

vacuum and allow the dust mop to collect the finer, smaller dust particles.

Go to a large hardware store or a grocery store.

Look at what is new in affordable dust mops.

They now make mops with handles of wood, fiberglass, aluminum and even colourful,

vinyl coated aluminum.

It is the other end that will give you the most decision-making options.

Some dust mop heads are quite large (up to 60 inches wide) and others are small for

those hard to get to confined areas (up to 12 inches).

11

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

They come in different colours so that you can use them for different purposes and

treatments and remember which is for what. They also come in types that can be

laundered or thrown away.

The looped-end construction should help eliminate linting and fraying and give the mop

a longer life, help withstand laundering and they don't tangle in the laundry as badly.

The cut end mops are more traditional and work well but do tangle and don't really

stand up to rigorous use because they fray, leave lint, have a shorter life and less

valuable performance.

Cotton fibers are still the most effective material for collecting and retaining the dust and

soil and are better at wicking and absorbing.

There are many treatments and spray-ons to make them even more effective in certain

situations or to make them attract soil better.

Synthetic fibers attract the dust and soil naturally, which means you won't need so many

dust mop treatments and spray-ons.

Commercial treatments make dust mops twice as effective and offer convenience

because they save time and give you a relatively dependable capability consistently.

If, however, chemical treatment is not an option for your home, a synthetic mop using

static attraction would be best to use.

12

Notre Dame of Marbel University
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
City of Koronadal, South Cotabato

When using an enhancer, treat the mop at least 8-10 hours before using.

Get the new mop, spray it after dinner and use the next morning. After each use shake

the mop and/or vacuum it.

The washable mops are made to go through many washings, but that doesn't mean you

should not apply some care.

A friend who had wood floors throughout his home found a zippered nylon mesh laundry

bag to wash his in that produces less tangling and degeneration of the mop.

The cotton dust mops can hold far more soil that you could imagine so launder the dust

mop head when it no longer picks up soil, smells sour or gets wet.

The key to efficient dust mopping is to select the right dust mop head for the job, a dust

mop you like well enough to use, to keep the dust mop head on the floor at all times to

pick up the soil, and vacuum and launder frequently.

FPGA programs

According to Soundarajan et al (2007). Industrial controllers such as

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are industrial devices that are frequently used in

process automation. Internally, they use microprocessors to execute programs

written using different programming language techniques such as Ladder Logic

Diagrams, Function Block Diagrams and others. Since the microprocessor executes

13
JMJ Marist Brothers
Notre Dame of Marbel University
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

instructions sequentially, the time to execute the programs increases as the number of

computationally intensive control algorithms is increased. Industrial controllers are

increasingly being used in networked environments to reduce cost and for better asset

management. The networking protocols used for networking in these environments

often change to introduce new features and enhance existing features. These changes

are primarily accomplished by adding communication modules to the PLC. The

problems of increased execution time and increase in the cost of the overall control

system caused by the addition of the new modules can be reduced

by using programmable logic devices such

as Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). Since FPGAs are highly configurable,

multiple communication/control modules can be implemented on a single device. The

cost of FPGA-based systems is usually low because of the lower non-recurring

engineering costs. This paper presents details of a project in which a Xilinx FPGA was

used to implement a control algorithm and a serial communication protocol. The paper

brings out the advantages of using a FPGA in conjunction with an industrial controller.
