I. The procedure of carrying out of the Contest Festival


1.1. The procedure of the Contest Festival includes:
− the opening ceremony;
− the audition;
− press conferences, round tables, creative meetings;
− the night festival for contestants on the territory of the Residence of
Metropolitans of Bukovina and Dalmatia;
− an awarding ceremony and the final concert of the winners of the Contest
Festival.

II. Nominations
2.1. Choirs (academic, folk, pop).
2.2. Vocal groups/companies (academic, folk, pop).
2.3. Academic solo singing.
2.4. Folk solo singing.
2.5. Variety solo singing.
2.6. «Vocal debut».

III. Age categories


3.1. Participants are divided by certain age categories:
"vocal debut"
− age 3-6 years.
choirs:
− I category – up to 11 years old;
− ІІ category – up to 14 years old;
− III category – up to 19 years old;
− ІV category – up to 27 years old;
− V category (for amateur groups) – from to 27 years old.
duets, trio, groups/companies (up to 12 people):
− I category – up to 11 years old;
− ІІ category – up to 14 years old;
− III category – up to 19 years old;
− ІV category – up to 27 years old;
− V category (for amateur groups) – from to 27 years old.
Solo performers:
− I category – up to 11 years old;
− ІІ category – up to 14 years old;
− III category – up to 19 years old;
− ІV category – up to 27 years old.

IV. Programme requirements


4.1. Choir
Category I – up to 11 years old; category II – up to 14 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 8 minutes):
− song of the country which the choir represents;
− song at the choir’s option.
Category III – up to 19 years old; category IV – up to 27 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 20 minutes):
− a sacred/religious song;
− a song of the country which the choir represents;
− a song of a modern composer;
− a song at the choir’s option.
Category V (for amateur groups) – from to 27 years old (duration of the performance –
up to 15 minutes):
− a song of the country which the choir represents;
− a song of a modern composer;
− a song at the choir’s option.
4.2. Vocal debut (2-6 years)
− 2 songs of different genres.
4.3. Vocal groups (duets, trio, quartets, companies (up to 12 people):
Category I – up to 11 years old; category II – up to 14 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 8 minutes):
− a song of the country which the group/company represents;
− a song at the group’s option.
Category III – up to 19 years old; category IV – up to 27 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 10 minutes):
− a song of the country which the group/company represents;
− a song at the group’s option.
Category V (for amateur groups) – from to 27 years old (duration of the performance –
up to 15 minutes):
− a song of the country which the group/company represents;
− a song at the group’s option.
4.4. Academic solo singing
Category I – up to 11 years old; category II – up to 14 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 8 minutes):
− a song of the country which the contestant represents;
− a song at the contestant’s option.
Category III – up to 19 years old; category IV – up to 27 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 15 minutes):
− a love song of a national or foreign composer;
− an aria of a national or foreign composer.
4.5. Folk solo singing
Category I – up to 11 years old; category II – up to 14 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 8 minutes)
− a song created by a composer of the country which the contestant represents;
− a song at the contestant’s option.
Category III – up to 19 years old; category IV – up to 27 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 15 minutes):
− a song created by a composer of the country which the contestant represents;
− a song at the contestant’s option.
Musical accompaniment is available at the contestant’s request: piano, button
accordion, accordion, instrumental group, orchestra.
4.6. Variety solo singing
Category I – up to 11 years old; category II – up to 14 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 8 minutes)
− a song created by a composer of the country which the contestant represents;
− a song at the contestant’s option.
Category III – up to 19 years old; category IV – up to 27 years old (duration of the
performance – up to 15 minutes):
− a song created by a composer of the country which the contestant represents;
− a world hit (source language).
Attention!!! There shouldn’t be more than 1 track per media. Availability of a
copy is mandatory!!!
− a sound track should be on a CD-ROM in an audio-CD format.
It’s necessary for each contestant to be able to perform a song “Хай пісня
скликає друзів” (music by G. Kovaleva, lyrics by Ya. Kushnir). A choral score is
presented on the site http://festchoral.luguniv.edu.ua/

V. Financial terms
5.1. Expenses related to the contestants’ arrival and departure, accommodation at the
hotel are covered by the sending party or by the contestant.
5.2. Contest-Festival participants will be accommodated in booked hotel rooms, hostels,
dormitories.
5.3. When preliminary agreed, the organizing committee provides the contestant with a
concertmaster (at the expense of the participant).
5.4. Participants can perform at their age group as well as in another age group if the
registration fee is paid for every age group.
5.5. Participants do not receive a fee for the performance at the competition, as well as
for the use of records and broadcasts of these performances.
5.6. Foreign citizens draw up travel documents independently: a passport, visas and a
health insurance.
5.7. In case of the participant’s refusal or failure to appear at the Contest Festival, the
charitable contribution and documents are not returned.
5.8. The charitable contribution will be used to cover the costs to organize the Contest-
Festival.
5.9. The work of the organizing committee of the Contest-Festival is on a voluntary
basis.
5.10. The Contest-Festival is founded by voluntary donations and sponsorship fees.
5.11. One must pay the charitable contribution for participation in the Festival. The size
of the charitable contribution for Ukraine:

• 2500 UAH – for the choral collective;


• 200 UAH – for the ensemble (for every participant);
• 450 UAH – for the solo singers.

For the participants from foreign countries:

• 250 EUR – for a choral collective;


• 50 EUR – for every participant of the ensemble;
• 100 EUR – for the solo singers.

VI. Documents
6.1. Documents that you need to apply for this contest-festival:
• application form (according to the sample);
• the list of participants (for teams);
• document (1st page) that certifies the participants’ age (for soloists);
• the biography (up to 1 page);
• the check’s copy about the charitable payment;
• photo of soloist (collective);
• scanned notes of competitive works;
• video for up to 2 minutes (for teams).

6.2. Photo
Black&white participant’s photo. Size jpeg (jpg).
For a portrait – size 1795х1205 рх (10х15 см), density 300 dpi.
For a group photo – size 2398х3602 рх (20х30 см), density 300 dpi.
Photos of high quality are also accepted.

6.3. Deadline – from January 1 to February 1, 2018 (participants, whose documents


were accepted, will be included in the leaflet of the contest-festival). After the 1th of
January 2018 the participants won’t be included in the leaflet.

The Organizing Committee has the right to refuse the application after February 1,
2018 or increase the charitable payment by 10%.

Attention!!! Documents are considered to be accepted in that case, if the whole


package of documents was received and the Organizing Committee send you the
answer about getting an application.

VII. Conditions of carrying out the Contest-Festival


7.1. The Festival “Hai Pisnya Sklykae Druziv” will be held in Chernivtsi on April 23-
27, 2018 at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
7.2. The Organizing committee does not return the documents, applied for the
participation in the contest-festival, and does not take any responsibility for the loss of
documents during the resending.
7.3. The order of performances corresponds to the order of applications.
7.4. The course of the Contest-Festival is a focus of mass media.
7.5. Organizing committee has a right to broadcast the video recordings of
performances.
7.6. Information of the participants and winners of the Contest-Festival will be put on
the official web-site.
7.7. The results of the contest will be put on the official web-site the next day after the
performance.
7.8. If the conditions and requirements are violated (unauthorized change of the
order of the performance), the jury may have a right to cancel the performance.
7.9. Obligatory condition: the winner of Grand Prix and I award laureates take part in
the Gala concert.
7.10. The participants, that became the laureates of the Contest-Festival, will be invited
by the Organizing Committee to take part in the festive events of Yuriy Fedkovych
Chernivtsi National University, Chernivtsi regional choral philharmonic society and
other regional artistic events.
