Most of the Humanities electives require you to attend classes in order to get good grades. You need to take a minimu

Review

This course teaches about the specific psychology found in an industrial organisation. It is a lot like Introductory Psychology,
although is a slightly more advanced course. While Intro to Psych is not a pre-requisite, it is recommended .Rajneesh
Choubisa .Teacher is good . Attend classes or get notes from your friends . Three quizes (all announced , 30% wtg )
consisting of objective questions . Attendance not required . Easy course content , not lengthy . Instructor is very cool. If you
are interested in the subject, you can learn a lot from him. If not, no problem. You can still score well even if you don't go to
class. There are MCQ quizzes which are very scoring. In mid sem & compres, the format of the questions asked is long
answer/ essay type. You are given situation based questions and you have to apply org psy concepts to the situations. . The
grading is very tough if you want A or A- while B or B- ranges are very large. There are 3 tests and this is where you must
score, although he asks only "very" factual stuff and you will have to read line by line to get any mark.

Copywriting is all about advertisements and lectures are interesting and engaging. G.S Chauhan takes the course and is the
best in business. .

20
PAVA same as copywiting. Instructor nice, informative about print media, 4 assignments ..need to attend classes...
but you'll get to know many things about G.S. Chauhan is an expert of advertising concepts and applications.
Worth attending classes. Would suggest to go to these classes even if you don't get this course. It's fun. You will
prepare different type of Ads and apply your creativity and understanding in those. Mid sems and compres were
also nice. Grading moderate. . compre(it was mostly theoretical)..no need to attend classes. Really fun course.
There are 5 evaluatives and all of them are really fun. The course is also very lite. Just study one day b4 midsem n
compre and you will score way above average.

:Report write for media has hectic evaluation scheme...Content is very good. It has 7-8 fun assignments of 55% wtg of course.
Instructor is G.S.Chauhan ,very helpful prof. Classes are very interactive.
You will eagerly wait for next class as soon as you complete one. Grading was tough. Only top 5 got A and A- collectively. 33
students were there in class.

Introductory philosophy is purely theoretical. Take only if you can learn things by heart and questions are direct. Grading is
moderate.

Professional Ethics is also theoretical purely. In answers expand all the points taught by him in the class. Grading is moderate.

Awesome course.. one should take a course under Hari Nair...

have to study a lot but it is all worth it...

21
The instructor is very lite. Just attend the classes and get an A..Class notes a must ,no matter how you arrange it, No need to
attend classes.Teacher is very polite, more importantly extremely lite, very less evaluatives, Those from CS background who
have done logic in computer science will find it easy.

This course focuses on the relation between various countries ,the culture followed in those countries and the economic
conditions in those countries.
Globalisation course was good. You will find the teacher not so interesting. But if u attend 60% of his classes. He will give you
A or A-. It`s open laptop both midsem and compree.Instructor is lenient on you if you attend classes. Course structure is not
so good and not as you'd expect from the name. He gave B till av+2. so good grading. The prof appears a bit sadistic at first
but actually is very good. Just need to study one day before exams and you will get an A- provided you attend all classes.
Also the evaluative components are very less. Just a midsem, a project report, a GD based on report and Compre.

Teaches you how to manage and develop Human Resource in an organization. What all factors to keep in mind and how to
work upon them.
HRD course seems quite easy. Teacher is nice. You can easily get 20 in 2 quiz.t. The instructor gives the same previous year
compree and midsem paper. But he does strict checking. For getting marks in compree you will have to understand the course
to get above B.without classes you can get B-..Better if u take in 2-2.
Don't need to attend classes apart from the ones in which he conducts quizzes Compre and midsems are open laptops and
generally he gives the last year paper as such without changing an alphabet.

You will learn about the details of policies, their origins, how they shaped today's government and how they affect us
People generally take it to understand the things. How actually things happen. But every time teacher used to ask same type
of questions who gave this theory . which year he gave. She could pick any line and ask you to fill the blanks.

22
Amazing course..Interesting, easy and highly engaging. All exams focus on higher order thinking skills and are great. Dr.
Sangeeta Sharma is one of the best professors in Pilani.Instructor is really enthusiastic and makes the classes
interesting.Creative Thinking is the best humanities elective. . Grading is good. Attendance is not compulsory but attend all
classes because every class is interesting. You don't even have to prepare for exams.
You just have to attend all clases where you would be doing randon activities. The classes are held at various locations like
sac, temple, gliders, etc"

Linguistics is offered in both the semesters. S.K.Choudhary is the IC of the course. The course is about the grammatical and
phonetic aspects of languages (English in particular). The course isn't too interesting, but the grading surely is. I hardly
attended 6 classes the entire semester and I ended up with an A- with av + 7. The course content is lite too. One of the
easiest course and an interesting one at that too.. You won't feel bored to attend the classes, though the instructor isn't strict
about attendance. . He was usually lite. Make sure you attend the important lectures because he covers many things in
lectures which are not there in book or slides.
Even the questions in exams are simple questions you faced in your school english grammar course.
Grading is lite too.

This course covers various government policis and their implementations.A lot of interesting topics like Bureaucracy, powers of
the president,CAG,financial administration etc are covered.Evaluation components are very les-a course quiz and a report..
Only people interested in going for civil services can focus on the content. Attendance is very lite and the entire course could
be studied inside an hour ( ultra lite) . the grading is good too. Out of 50 students I was ranked 7th and ended up with an A-.
So opt for if you have the knack to write lengthy answers to whatever is asked in the paper (the same content you know could
be twisted and you could write anything from the knowledge you have).. there is no need to submit assignment on time.Only
read from the previous notes. and grading was lenient(avg and got B). 3 questions in the midsem (10 markers) with no option.
If you don't know even one question, your grade is screwed, since the instructor is pretty strict about giving marks in general
(the avg for mid sem was 11). The overall course content is good though so if you're thinking of a Govt. job,do try.

Instructor Pushp Lara.. Theoretical quizzes. Content is fine. But don't expect anything from classes. Assignments are time
pass tool for instructor.Grading is very linient.(more than 20 Students get A in a course of 90 students).Teacher is very
enthusiastic. Many evaluatives....but easy for those who are good writing crap long stories in your answer sheet.

23
Prof. Pushp Lata. Good course. Better marks if the teacher knows you by name. Good grading. Two units only. Worth it if you
want to fill a slot.Mass .Grading is very linient.(more than 20 Students get A in a course of 90 students).

The papers(Mid Sem and Compre) are based on the slides and previous year question paper and the grading was easy.
( avg- and got B).. MMCD is not what you think. No WebD, Photoshop. Nirban Sir is good. Attendance not necessary and
gading is moderate.his is a course in which people got B at Avg.-5, many assignments and a surprise test though.

Bhagvad Gita has so much knowledge and wisdom that it cannot be delivered in 40 lectures. This course covers Bhagvad Gita
briefly and tries to deliver us the message of Lord Krishna. Not a phisophical course as many would expect, but you will truly
feel the need to apply it in your daily life.Don't opt for this course if you are not interested, because then it would just be
another information ladent course for,and you will not enjoy it the way you should.
take this course if you can attend all the classes and can learn from them.Grading was ok(avg- and got B-).awesome course
not only in academic view but also in personal feel for subject,Must do course. One of the few courses you can actually relate
to - attending classes is kinda important in this one so skip this if you don't plan on attending them. The instructor for this
course is not Dr. Kannan though he grades the papers. Best part is that the syllabus isn't really much and the papers are open
ended in general.

Take if you are interested in movies, camera angles etc.No need to attend every class. 4 Assignments. Instructor is very SAC
(Devika). Went for like 5 classes in the semester. Course structure is fairly lite too, couple of assignments which are easy to
write. Don't have a strict anti plagiarism policy. Attendance is super lite. You could go for 0 classes and do well if your
assignments and exams go fine. Only problem is, there are like 100 people in this class. It's a little hard to make an A, butA-
and B is completely doable.

24
This course deals with the causes and repercussions of the n number of of wars that have taken place till date ,the
establishment and functions of the UN,various theories of World Politics--realism,liberalism etc, international law, world
economic crisis and the like. The subject pretty much deals with the international law from the 1900s..
.LITE. 2 Assignments which are lengthy. Attending classes is not compulsory, During exams, its bit mportant to write from book
as the IC may cut marks for using own words.
Hari Nair is a brilliant professor. Classes are very interesting. Course material as well. But it's quite a lot of work, you have
one very long assignment which will include a prelim draft and oral presentation as well. It will be a lot of research. And he is
quite strict about plagiarism. Also you have to keep up with all the reading material he sends after every class. But it's not
tedious, since the material is interesting to read. If you like history or reading, definitely take this course. He's not very strict
about attendance but attending classes is a good idea. Grading is ok, if you do 50% of what he expects you can make an
A-/B. A little more effort and you can make an A.This Elective is taken by Hari Nair. The guy is an excellent teacher. He takes
great care in explaining the concepts. I didnt like history much but wanted to learn and Hari Nair is the right person to ignite
your interest.
It will help a lot if you attend classes, if not remember to take notes from someone(you will need it). He will mail you some lite
readings. You will have to make an assignment but he is not much strict about the rules.
Grading is tough because not many people take up this class but if u go to classes u will get through finely. The course takes
you on a tour of modern history, using interesting study material like movies, interviews and snippets from popular history
books. It's great fun, but keep in mind that Hari Nair sir puts in a lot of effort into each class and expects you to do the same. I
found the assignment very tough, but it's a new sort of experience. Attendance doesn't count, but you lose track if you miss a
bunch of classes in the middle and the tests depend heavily on what's taught in class. Grading is tough.
Kumar Bhattacharya is also a brilliant prof. If you're interested in films/reading, take this course. It's also very much related to
politics, economics and culture of South Asian countries (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, etc.) so if you like reading about that
kind of stuff it's a good course to take. Course structure is very simple. One assignment and one test, apart from
midsem/compre. But again, very strict about plagiarism. And he expects a well-researched, original assignment. He can be
strict about attendance sometimes. But overall I'd definitely recommend this course, it was very interesting. Nothing special
about grading. In a class of 30, around 10-13 get As and A-s.

DySoc - Grading is somewhat strict and Mam is also following rules.(You will have to attend the lectures) teacher is very
interactive in class ready to listen to your opinions.

Took this course in 2nd sem. Instructor was Pushp Lata. Extremely good course for people who want to improve their
speaking skills. Instructor was awesome, had many assignments which included JAM sessions, speeches, GD, debates, and
even personal interviews :) . Probably one of the best productive courses in BITS. Grading was fine got B with av+4-5.

25
Cinematic art-interested in cinema then opt for this

Performance design-should attend classes regularly and those who are interested in painting only should opt for this course

If you are music enthusiast then a great one

CURRENT AFFAIRS IS ONE OF THE BEST COURSE OFFERED BY DEPT. OF HUM. AT BITS. . TO PUT THE CHERRY ON
THE TOP OF THE CAKE THE INSTRUCTOR IS SKC AND THERE IS NO BOOK FOR COURSE, JUST READ NEWSPAPER
DAILY, GRADING IS ALSO LITE. Very easy course if you are used to following day to day news. Most of the questions asked
are from the topics in mainstream media. No need to study anything before exams if you are following the news regularly.
Questions asked in mid sems and compres are mostly long answer/ essay type and you just have to write your opinions on
current issues. No need to go to class .He discusses everything in class so u if u attend classes no need to read newspapers
avg +3 and got A- n Bon avg
Assignments are very easy. Test will be announced and It is important that u get good marks here because mark distribution is
not very wide in exams. Mid-sem and compre questions have predictable topics .

This course teaches you the basics involved in making a short film or documentaries. One will have to do small assignments
and complete one video assignment- a 5-7m film. take it if you are interested madly in video production and will be able to do
all by urself ( can't depend upon the instructor). Grading was lenient last sem but the instructor has left the campus and don't
know who is gonna be the new instructor.

26
course is lite....no mid-sems and compre.... 2 assignments( 1 for midsem & 1 for compre) .. yet grading is very bad only 1-2
people get A/A- .. you can get C very easily...If u want to relax whole semester not caring about grade you can take it...

course taken by devika....take the course only if interested... mid-sem and compre include writing poems, story, articles on
your own imagination using patch of data... grading ok in class of 25-30 I got A- for rank 9....average grade B-

This course deals with basic elements of Literature and Cinema taking some specific examples of them. The course is
excellent if you are interested.Attend classes to get marks. Nothing more to study .Read comics, novels, watch
movies. However,it`s hard to score higher than B.Need good writing skills to score A or A-, you have to be good with literature
to score .

No need to attend classes.Submit all assignments on Time .Get B/B-.

The instructor is Umesh Dhyani,The course talks about various methods used in resolving the conflict.Evaluation
components:there are two assignments .Midsem and compre are mostly lite .you need to write long answers. Moreover the
questions are mostly moral value based,And are easy to answer .Assignment deadlines are lite .Grading is very lenient

27
This course deals with ancient indian history .It descrides India's contribution to world civilization and asimmilation of different
cultures to indian heritage.

Acting exercises in SAC, 1 play to be analysed throughout semester, a performance in the end, no written compre

It deals about various incidents and groups formed after world war 1&2.

Deals with various saints like sankara,Ramanuja,Mandan, etc. and gives a basic understanding about philosophical point of
views.

This course is about south east asian literature and poetry. You will have to read short stories and poems every week, but they
are quite short and very interesting. It covers topics like feminist movement, indian independence, caste system, social
inequalities and litrary structures such as structuralism, post structuralim. You lean aboout freud and other intersting people in
the world of literature.

28
This course covers the basics of psychology - touching upon the various historical schools of thought, freudian
theories, consciousness, perception and personality.

OPEN AND DISCIPLINARY ELECTIVES

.This is the best course I have taken in BITS so far. The instructor was Tapomay Guha Sarkar. He is a very good instructor.
We even watched Interstellar in LTC! Attendance is not compulsory but the classes are so interesting that I never missed
any.The course structure is also good. It starts with Special Relativity and takes General Relativity to the introductory level.
There are no prerequisites.
Grading is not exactly lite but it's not very strict either. Overall, a very good course.

The best course I've attended so far. It has engaging labs, new experiments and a perfect instructor in Prof. Manoj Kannan.
Sets you up for future lab work.

I thought this course as a substitute to OOP ,which I couldn't get bcoz of my pr no. It is a higher degree elective course in co

29
Instructor Dr Sailaja is super-lite.You really do enjoy the course as there is lot of interaction going in the course. There is
nothing to study and the evaluation components are dead easy . She will ask only from the material which she provides , but
the questions she ask are mind-blowing . The questions are basically those which engineers basically omit and arts students
focus on.Remeber each and every stupid date possible in the course material and every important name and their writings
along with year of publication(if given in the material) . Basically you have to write a lot in mid-sems and compres , repeating
the same answer multiple times in the answer script.Grading is ultra lite.

Instructor is lenient, first do image processing and then go for it

. Instructor is lenient, attendance not required, grading moderate.Image processing is a decent course.Though the course
structure and evaluation components are not that effectively designed.A good course. The instructor is decent, course content
is apt, a bit too much math which wasn't taught in the best possible way. The exams were easy (mid sem and compree) if you
attend the classes and prepare well. Very high scoring. You need 265/300 for an A.Raj Kumar Gupta sir teaches pretty well,
and it's interesting because you learn how elementary math can be applied to create the most useful and interesting
techniques. And it's rather relevant - you figure out how Snapchat filters work. The course might give you a slight headstart for
any project/internship you might want to take up in the area, but it's extremely basic and involves almost no hands-on work.
It's a very simple course, attendance doesn't matter and evaluatives and grading are pretty sac

If you want to start your own company sometime, or if you want to lead one. Teaches you the basics of entrepreneurship, how
to write business plan. You will also write one! A book by Arya Kumar Sir is referred. Classes would be quite lively if Arya
Kumar Sir takes that. Checks your creativity and innovation.Instructor- JYOTI TIKORIA - Kind, Lenient, Supportive, Good
adviser,Course Structure - Basically a course to prepare aspirants for NVC. Lots and lots of quizzes, But you will enjoy classes
if you will go regularly.

Prof. Madhushree Sarkar Very good teacher. Easy to understand course material. Easy to score. Attend her classes as she
asks compre questions from notes.and she's very good and helpful.
Grading is very lite, attendance is not an issue but its always better to attend the classes as she asks most of the questions
from class notes only. Course structure is fine and it will help mechanical and chemical dualites.

30
Awesome course if taken by Dr N N Sharma, course is well planned and gives you a while new insight on what new is being
done in the world of mech other than cliché fields.

Same as MEMS

Not good enough, just a repetition of prob stats. Course shows some practical aspects of prob stats.

-Rajan Pandey-very good courses and very good lecturer.Announced Quizzes.Accounting, ratios, balance sheets, P/L
statements, cash budgeting, capital budgeting. (Highly recommended for people interested in finance). This one is actually
related to corporate finance. But only a brief of it.Good grading

- One of best and hardest disciplinary electives . There will be 10 weekly assignments and 2 major assignments . The course
consists of programming of OS concepts (processes ,semaphores etc) .Major part of the course is about programing of
Networking concepts. Grading is moderate .(10% students got A) .Average is always low in this course . Hari Babu's teaching
and evaluation is appreciable . This course will be helpful for Computer Networks CDC. You wont get marks unless you attend
classes.

31
Machine Learning/ Data mining - at least one of them is a must course for every cs guy . Both instructors mukesh kumar rohil
and navneet goyal lack teaching abilities for this particular course . Grading is moderate . Don't take this course if it is taken by
Rohil. NaGo not good, didn't learn much, Haphazard structure, Attendance not required, Grading is lenient.

The major part is of accounts. Much needed course for Finance Professionals. Compulsory course for Finance minors.
Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cashflow statement. Analysis of Financial Ratios etc. Av remains low especially in mid
sems. Book is highly imperative. Most basic finance course . Effortless and undemanding course. Grading is lenient . Attending
1-2 classes/week could still fetch you an A .I think the course structure varies with the teacher. Krishna Muniyoor sir followed
the very-well-written textbook closely, and gave us pretty much what you'd expect from the course name - an intro to how the
finances of a firm are managed and documented. It's pretty useful stuff to know, even if you don't plan to work in the area. I
don't think the attendance counted for anything. There are surprise tests, but you can figure out when they're going to be. For
any evaluative, the textbook has everything you need to know and it's easy to read too. I've heard Rajan Pandey sir teaches it
really well too.

-Grading is linient but Scoring of all people is High in the Course.

Instructor doesn't take his attendance seriously, course structure is good and emphasise on application of applied
thermodynamics.

32
srinivasan you can take any course he is teaching, must take course

ppc, very bad, can't remember anything I learnt from this course, although it seemed course has many applications

DRM is a really nice course. Very lite teacher. Very little portion, and very less to study.I got an A without attending a single
class.

Data Mining under Prof. Navneet Goyal. The course is a pretty decent introduction to machine learning techniques. It's not too
technical and would recommend it as a first course. If you'd like to choose between the ML course and this course, I'd say
take data mining. You'll better of taking coursera ML. There were no quizes. The content was interesting and the teaching was
decent (could have been better). There is NO programming involved. The labs need you to model the algorithms in IBM
SPSS. Also, there's a difference in the course content when taught by Poonam maam.

This is a fabulous course. Rajan Sir has an amazing way of teaching and his experience in industry enriches the experience in
class. The content might be tough but if you make some effort and attend each and every lecture, you'll definitely learn
something very useful. It'll also make you understand how the financial world works. There were 3 quizes, midsem and
compre. Plus a big project to be modeled in excel. The difficulty of midsem and compre can be overwhelming. But the
checking is done in a very flexible manner. Rajan sir is quite approachable and open for discussion. Would definitely
recommend this, if you are even slightly into finance.

33
Boring course, involves a lot of matrix operations and similar mathematics. A7 people can take it up in the even semester
when there are no C6 people as it is their CDC in the odd sem. So the strength is quite low and hence the tough grading.

Valuation , financial analysis. Good if looking forward to value businesses in future. You can take clues how to value startups
too. Can help you if aspiring for Venture firms, Investment banking etc.
very important and interesting

great course

taught by ravi inder singh.. teaches monotonously... grading fine B- on average.. course good but teacher lite.. 10-12 people
attend class of 140

One of the best course for budding entrepreneurs. You literally start-up in this. Combined class for Goa,Pilani and Hyderabad.
Classes can take place anytime after 5PM or morning during Sundays. Started by two BITS Alumni Abhinav Khushraj and
Rachit Parekh. Participation in a team. They do the final evaluation along with Arya Kumar Sir. Business canvas, Elevator
Pitch, Lectures by great entrepreneurs. Mentor allotment to each team. You have to complete a course on Udacity and then
based upon your marks in the test + presentation of your idea, you get enrolled into the course. No MidSem, No Compre.
MVP is the final evaluation.

34
Tell you about basics of Stock market. Do not forget to refer old examination papers while preparing for your mid sem or
compres. Looks interesting in the beginning. Good for you if you are trading live along. Nothing is difficult in the course.A book
is prescribed which was never used during the entire course. However it is recommended. Assignment apart from Midsem and
Compres is ultra lite.

Some insights of Quantitative Finance. Time value of money, valuation, derivative pricing, Capital budgeting. All in all a good
course + very lite. 100% attendance recommended. Do not miss any quizzes.

FinE is another great course but only if you are really interested in finance and have done SAPM earlier. Its a relatively
advanced course and even though Vaish sir will explain everything very nicely it would be difficult to follow if you don't have a
good background(read:done SAPM). Starts with bonds, synthetics, then goes onto hedging, greeks, repos, and a couple more
topics. You will have to go to class regularly because I highly doubt you would be able to anything on your own a day before
the exam.

Teaches you how various economic principles are validated. To learn how to make one, you may refer Applied econometrics
course. Highly useful. Test in every Tut sometimes in regular lectures too. Regression Analysis and depth of it.

It teaches you about principles of banking and finance which is prevalent in India. Book is highly baffling. No need to go
through the entire book. Just go to classes. Listen to the teacher and a sure shot A, A- is promised. Exams are very ver easy!
