PRESS RELEASE
A 17:51 hours on Monday, February 19, City Fire Units were
dispatched to a reported fire in a building on Newell Street. Upon
arrival, fire units encountered flames and smoke coming from a vacant
building addressed as 108 Newell Street. Due to the amount of fire and
unknown building contents, a defensive operation was initiated. Mutual
aid and fire department personnel were activated to assist
‘At approximately 19:44 hours, a portion of the fire building suddenly
collapsed, trapping 2 fire department members under the debris. Both
‘were immediately uncovered and treated at the scene by department
‘members and Guilfoyle ambulance paramedics. Both were transported
to SMC where one was treated and released, the second was transported
to University Hospital with possible hip fracture and intemal injuries.
Fire Investigators from NYS Division of Homeland Security were on
scene lastnight and will continue to work with Watertown Police
‘throughout today.

104 Paddock Street. The building is insured.

ambulance, National Grid and ICCI contracting.
