NSTP 1 Immersion Activity

7:30 AM. I arrived at Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center for our immersion
activity in NSTP 1. I can’t help but reminisce since this is my second time going to the
place. The first time was for a field trip I had when i was in high school. I don’t
remember much of the place anymore though. Back to the present, after the assembly,
we went to our respective duties. Our section was assigned to do gardening so we went
to NAWPC’s nursery. It is my first time to do this activity. I really don’t do gardening
because I know I don’t have a green thumb and I am sure that I won’t be able to care for
them since I’m not that interested in plants. Anyway, I really don’t have much of a
choice since this is NSTP and I have to cooperate with my classmates. Our guide
started giving instructions as to what we’re going to do. As a result, separation of tasks
started. Most of the guys digged through what i think is a compost(not really sure, told
you I don’t know much about gardening) and started putting them into plastic pots.
While they are transferring the compost to the pots, some of us helped to put them into
their proper places. Several plants were given to us to plant on to the plastic pots which
was done by some of my classmates, mostly girls. Eventually, we found ourselves back
and forth carrying pots with compost, putting them to the instructed place, then planting
the leaves that were given to us. Interestingly, I actually found the fun in doing these
tasks. I planted for the first time in my life and I was actually surprised that it was just
easy. I carried more pots, planted in those pots and was surprised to see that the time
flashed by and it’s already time to go back because our worked is already finished. I
was feeling very satisfied and accomplished while looking at the pots that we have
planted. I was thinking that i should go back next time to visit these plants and check if
they have grown(that would definitely make me happy!)
