Module Description: The module is designed to give a broad range of skills and knowledge with respect to theoretical concepts
and practices in relation to business communications and professional development. Learners will develop
their capacity to engage and communicate with intended audiences in a range of corporate settings, as well
as enhancing their personal career skills and candidacy regarding employment prospects
Learning Outcomes
LO1 Define the communications process, identifying relevant audiences, acknowledging their expectations and approaches for
effective communication exchanges
LO2 Demonstrate knowledge of academic and contemporary business writing principles. This will involve comprehension of
relevant writing methodologies, structure and applicable styles and tonality
LO3 Devise and deliver comprehensive and engaging presentations, utilising applicable software programmes and visual aids
LO4 Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary principles of personal and group management in a modern business context
LO5 Illustrate current theories and practice in relation to time management and managing stressful workloads and situations
LO6 Demonstrate contemporary thinking with regards to recruitment practices, application letters and CV preparation as well as
interview skills and practice
