Ocean Beauty Completes Seattle-Area Expansion

Seattle, WA – Ocean Beauty Seafoods has completed the expansion of its Seattle
Distribution and Hot-Smoked Salmon manufacturing divisions. The new facilities, located
in Renton, Washington, just south of Seattle, are significantly larger than the old ones, and
incorporate new state-of-the-art processing capabilities. Ocean Beauty’s corporate
headquarters will remain at the Ewing Street location in Seattle, where Distribution and
Hot-Smoked were previously located.

Both operations have seen strong growth in the past several years, and the current location
could no longer support continued growth. The Renton site provides over 65,000 square
feet of production space, along with substantial office space, a secure refrigerated loading
dock with eleven bay doors, and easy access to all major freeways as well as Seattle-Tacoma
international airport. State of the art 10K skin-packing manufacturing capability, for fresh,
frozen fish and smoked salmon, is a major component of the new facility.

Explosive growth in the South Lake Union area has dramatically increased transit time
from the plant to the major highways, increasing costs and jeopardizing the service levels
Ocean Beauty’s customers have come to rely on.

“We could have remodeled the Ewing Street building, but if we did that we’d still be in a
location that is very difficult to move trucks in and out of,” said Tom Sunderland, Ocean
Beauty’s Vice President of Marketing. “The location on the Lake Washington Ship Canal is
a scenic and historic location, and we’ve been here since 1978, but it’s become a major
undertaking just to get on the freeway from here.”
