These notes explain how to install RightAngle (RA) software in stand-alone mode or how to configure Modeva and
RightAngle to talk to each other, on a PC or on a ModEva NC.

The described procedure is valid also for a PC running Win 7. However, you must have Administrator rights not only
to install but also to run RightAngle.

A. Install frameworks and run-time libraries

Assuming we start with a Windows XP SP3 machine, install these pre-requisite by running RA2012PreSetup.exe.

B. Install RightAngle software

Install the last version of RA software by running RASetup.71.exe (or later if this document is not up to date).
Unless you change the destination directory, this will create directory C:\RA2012.
Inside this you will find C:\RA2012\MetaCAM and C:\RA2012\RightAngle.

C. Install RightAngle data (machine and tool models)

Select the data set consistent with the target machine.
Currently, RAData.57.Acme.exe installs a “neutral” machine, corresponding to no particular customer.
Unless you change the destination directory, this will create directory C:\RA2012\RAData.
Instead of or after RAData.57.Acme.exe, you can rune the data install for any other customer or press-brake model.

D. Running as a PC or as stand-alone software on DNC.

Preceding steps A to C are sufficient to run RightAngle alone as demonstration software.
In this case, there is no communication with any ModEva software running on the same system.
The following steps E to J are only necessary if a communication with ModEva is required.

E. Install latest ModEva software (both DNC and ENC, if necessary).

This step is not necessary if RightAngle is to be run alone in demo mode.
Run SSBFFR_build_4.exe if you have a 3D dongle, otherwise, run SSBFHR_build_4.exe.
Select either PC or DNC installation, depending on the target system.
Recall that a PC installation can be performed also when the target is a NC, but not vice versa.
If on NC, install also the newest ENC firmware, e.g. SHBFAR_build_14.enc or later.

Some software patches might be necessary.

Just copy the files contained in …..\PatchesToSSBF_R_build_4 over those installed by the above mentioned installers
of R_build_4 versions.

Run ModEva software.

If some machine parameters and tools specific for the target machine are available, go to page TRANSFER and import
them.
In any case, make sure to have a copy of all dies and punches. RightAngle will generate a fresh list containing only the
necessary tools for each part program. For instance, goto page PERIPHERAL in MACHINE PARAMETERS and create a
new peripheral COPY, e.g. in C:\COPY. Then on TRANSFER page, transfer from INTERNAL to COPY.

F. Configure RA software for communication with ModEva.
Edit C:\RA2012\RAData\RA.INI in order to obtain one of the followings:

On a NC, with ModEva communicating with RA:

[Settings]
TouchScreen=1
DemoMode=0
CrashBehavior=2
[Modeva]
Enabled=1
MessageDir=Z:\
DataDir=C:\RAM\DATA\
UseCwmLink=1
IgnoreDepthCollision=1
IgnoreAllCollision=1

On a PC, with ModEva communicating with RA:

[Settings]
TouchScreen=0
DemoMode=0
CrashBehavior=2
[Modeva]
Enabled=1
MessageDir=C:\CYB\SSBFHR4\Ram; or some more recent version.
DataDir= C:\CYB\SSBFHR4\Ram\Data ; or some more recent version.
UseCwmLink=1
IgnoreDepthCollision=1
IgnoreAllCollision=1

On a PC or on a NC, with RA in standalone mode:

[Settings]
TouchScreen=0
DemoMode=1
CrashBehavior=2
[Modeva] ; doesn’t matter

G. Save original tool list in ModEva, if any.

Run ModEva software. If any, import some standard data for ModEva (machine parameters, tools).
Create an additional “peripheral”, e.g. named Original. Copy from INTERNAL to Original all punches and dies you
would like to use when working as under “pure Modeva”. In fact, RA will generate a fresh list containing only the
necessary tools for each part program. In case you want to switch back to “pure ModEva”, you will copy the tool lists
from Original to INTERNAL before starting working.

H. Import data from ModEva to RA (on NC only).

Run RightAngle software. Navigate to Settings/Other Settings/Read Machine data from Modeva . Check if data
consistent. If so, click on Import Data into RightAngle.

I. Prepare RightAngle tool inventory and machine valencies
Navigate to Settings/Other Settings/Read Machine data from Modeva . Click on Tool catalogs. Add those you need. Click
on Done.
Now, among the available tool catalogs, you must select those tool profiles you actually have or intend to have in your
workshop inventory. RightAngle will only allow mounting tools that have at least one segment (length) declared in
inventory.
Navigate to Settings/Tool Inventory. Click on Full Catalog. Now you will see all possible tools for the selected catalogs.
Navigate in the Die, Die Holder, Punch and Punch Holder trees. Examine the listed tools. For the interesting ones, make sure
there are enough segments. To add a segment, just click(touch) on the pertinent length. To delete a segment, click (touch) it
and hold: the counter will decrement. You can also add inexistent lengths.
For testing or demo purposes, it is useless to create huge inventories. Just select some reasonable, realistic tool set.
When finished, click again on Full Catalog. Now you will only see those tools for which you have “bought” at least one
segment.
Some of these tools might have their Valency field highlighted in yellow, with the mention “Toole cannot be mounted
directly on machine (Valency mismatch)”. Valecy is just a number that defines the kind of “connection” between a tool and a
tool holder or a machine. For example, to mount a punch with valency 42, the machine must also have punch valency 42.
Alternatively, there must be at least one punch holder with bottom valency B42 and top valency the same as the machine.
Take note of the actual valencies needed by your tools that are marked in yellow. Make sure this is correct and that those
tools can really be mounted on your machine. If so, navigate to Settings/Other Settings/Machine Valencies. Enter the
necessary valencies. If more than one, enter valencies separated by space or comma.
Now, by visiting again the tool inventory, the yellow texts should have disappeared.

J. Conclusion

Now you are set to run RightAngle under the proper conditions.

For further details, see User Manual (under preparation).
