Let’s have a short conversation with a classmate about what he or she did last
Saturday. Which tense is used to talk about what you did one time on a particular
day?

Ask a classmate if he or she did the following things last Saturday.

Have you ever celebrated your birthday by trying something new? These people did.
Nuria, for example, never used to eat snails. But she did eat snails on her last
birthday! Use the imperfect to indicate what the people below used to do in the past.
Use the preterite to indicate what they did on a specific day in the past. That specific
day was their last birthday. Follow the model.

dialog on their worksheets and fill in the blanks with the past tense verbs
in either the preterite or the imperfect. (See page 33 for the
