My Perspective in the Ecology of the Philippines

If there is a paradise on Earth that is full of treasures, that place is known as the Philippines. Located at the
Pacific, Philippines is dubbed as the ‘Pearl of the Orient Seas’. The country’s natural resources are as rich as its
colorful history. Ever before the colonizers conquered this beautiful archipelago, Philippines was already blessed with
so much wealth. Moreover, the beautiful and untouched environment and topography created an impression of the
archipelago’s virginity. As of the present, the Philippines is still surrounded by different natural resources that capture
the tourists all over the world. With 7,100 islands and islets in the Philippines, some are currently no names and
probably contain 99% of various kind of undiscovered animals, trees, flowers, and plants. However, the country still
let these islands or islets to live away from people to secure welfare. Additionally, these certain places said too far
and in the middle of the seas find really find hard to go. Philippines is contented of the nature it has; the same as the
people who serve as the motivator and responsible in implementing security laws for it.

Current environmental laws consist of P.D No.984 entitled pollution control law that declaring policy to
prevent, abate and control pollution of water, air and land for the more effective utilization of the resources of this
country. The government was the one in charge to determine the location, magnitude, extent, severity, causes, effects
and other pertinent information regarding pollution of the water, air and land resources of the country, and to issue
orders or decisions to compel compliance with the provisions of the decree. For Presidential Decree 984 otherwise
known as the Pollution Control Decree of 1978 is a national policy aimed to prevent, abate and control pollution of
water, air and land for the more effective utilization of the resources of this country. In this Decree of 1978, the
commission may conduct scientific experiments, investigations and research to discover economical and practical
methods of preventing water, air and land pollution. Under the P.D 1152 this is the policy for the various aspects of
environmental management such as air and water quality management, natural source development, land and waste
management. It provides a program to environmental protection and management, with reference to policies and
standards of noise, air quality, water quality, classification of water and waste management.

Moreover, I noticed how nature is gradually destroyed in the Philippines, how green turns into silver. What I
mean is the decreasing of trees in aiming to build buildings and other infrastructures. That's Philippines now. While
years up, there are big changes happened in the economy and whole society. Many things are existed because of
science and it affects nature. Filipinos become quite observant with the reality and they have found that Philippines
is late in the level of modernization. It is the reason why the government abruptly conducted possible ways to come
up with discovering and inventing through the important uses of nature. That, perhaps, the mistake they have decided.
Consequently, they used it in wrong way and as a result, many are lost-their lives and their jobs. Philippines suffered
from flood, landslide, earthquakes, and other natural disaster. Although the country is rich in natural resources, it also
rich in producing a catastrophe. The country, even it has a modern living, still incapable on how to prevent wrath of
the nature. Nature is a great source of man's necessities. But man becomes abusive resulting into having of nature
crisis.
