Reaction Rate

This essay will discuss about the factor of Reaction Rate. The reaction rate
is increasing the
amount of reaction products for each unit time. The measure amount of the
substance in a chemical reaction generally expressed as a molar concentration or
molarity (M), thus the reaction rate expressed as reduced concentration of reagents
or an increase in the concentration of the reaction products per unit of time
(seconds) .satuan reaction rate is expressed in units of moles dm det or mole / liter
seconds. The reaction rate is influenced by several factors .
The first factor influencing the rate of reaction is a concentration. Of high-
concentration so, semakin the more reactant molecules available. Thus the
possibility of colliding with the more well so that the reaction rate increases.
changes in the number of reagent molecules can affect the rate of a reaction
species. The number of moles of solute in 1 liter of solution is called the molar
concentration .When enlarged reagent concentration in a reaction, mean density
increased and will increase the possibility of a collision which will accelerate the
rate of reaction. when more and more particles, consequently more possibilities
collide particles that occur in a solution, thereby accelerating the reaction.
Example: zinc and hydrochloric acid in the laboratory, granular zinc reacts quite
slowly with a solution of hydrochloric acid, but would be faster when the
concentration of the acid increased .
Another factor affecting the rate of reaction is temperature. The magnitude
of the temperature causes the reaction rate increases. Her temperature will affect
the price of a reaction rate constants by raising the temperature. So, the kinetic
energy of the molecules of a substance will grow so that more molecules that have
the same energy .Example : speed of reaction rates as the effects of temperature,
can be seen from the manufacture of coffee. the sugar will dissolve faster if hot
water in the glass over contrast, the sugar will slowly dissolve when water in the
glass was still cold.
The last factor that affects the rate of reaction is the catalyst. Catalyst is a
substance that can speed up or slow down the reaction rate, without changing the
substance is kept or used by the reaction itself. A catalyst role in the reaction, but
not as a reactant or a product. Catalyst provides a path selection with lower
activation energy. Catalyst reduces the energy required for reacting. Catalysts can
be divided into two groups, namely; homogeneous and heterogeneous . Catalysts
homogeneous catalysts are in the same phase. Whereas, the heterogeneous catalyst
is a catalyst that is in a different phase to the reactants in the reaction in which her
catalyst. example; catalytic converter in the mob containing platinum, which serves
as a catalyst to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide which is toxic.
Based on the description above can be concluded that the reaction rate is
reduced number of reagents for a unit of time or increasing the amount of reaction
products for each unit of time. as well as the factors - factors that affect the rate of
reaction is concentration and temperature as well as the catalyst.
